Chapter 2: Tanya Rogers

"What do you mean, you haven't found her yet?" Alice Rogers was furious. It's been days since her beloved daughter went missing, but the police had no lead on her whatsoever.

"Ma'am, please remain calm. We're trying our best here. We'll find your daughter as…" An officer tried to calm her down before another one named Billy placed his hand over his shoulder.

"You know what Luke? I'll take over." Billy pushed Luke aside to face Alice. "Look, Mrs. Rogers. Yours is not the first missing case that came through those doors. If you aren't living under a rock, you might have noticed the startling amount of missing cases these days on TV. And your daughter is just one among them. We'll put just the effort in finding her as we put in finding others. We, however, do believe that these missing cases are connected. Therefore, if we're to find one, the others would be simple to get to as well. But we can't fully ensure everyone's safety, including your daughter—that would just be giving false hope, wouldn't it? Now, this might've made me sound like an asshole, but do I look like I care?" Billy shrugged his shoulders as he showed her some of their missing people's case files. He placed her daughter's one right in the midst of these files and gave it to Luke and walked away.

"Not much of a sugar coating, is there?" Alice followed Billy around. "You know, that's fine—but I feel like I can't just sit around trusting you lot to do the job. I might as well hire a private investigator! And I do know a good one from around here." Billy stopped on his tracks as he heard her words and so did Alice.

"Well, it's your choice anyway. But before you go meet the good PI that you know, how about you meet this woman?" Billy took out a card from his pocket and placed it on Alice's hands. "She's a bit wacky, you know, with some supernatural shit and all—but let me tell you, and she is one of the best I've ever seen in her field. She'll help you out." Billy shook her hand and left the premises.

"You just might be right about this one thing," Alice muttered as she glanced towards the card.

Elsewhere, in TR Supernatural Investigations regional office, which was one among its kind, Tanya was busy sleeping. She recently shifted to her office, since the money from her current job was not enough to cover her expenses—and the fact that her landlord kicked her out, so it was not much of a shift but a forceful release of unwanted material. Anyways, she did settle in her office very comfortably—so comfortably that her office looked just like every other home she lived in-messy and untidy.

"Wake up, Tanya! It's morning and you've got work." A tiny mass of gas called out to her. It did have a barely recognizable face which was difficult to see since it was just a colorful gas ball.

"Shut up, Chuck! No one ever visits this place." She swatted away the tiny ghost that she called Chuck. He was barely able to hold himself in position, but he was determined.

"Well, that may be the case—but there is another one of those missing cases, or so I've heard from someone." Chuck tried his might at turning on the television but failed. But he did succeed in getting Tanya off of the guest sofa in which she spent the last night.

"That might have some truth to it. But still, there are plenty of other private investigators around here. However, we could still hope!" She walked across to the fridge in her very comfortable t-shirt and panties, which she was pretty sure until yesterday that it was torn—the t-shirt, that is. But today, it magically got repaired back into its initial state. Pretty mysterious events happened around her. But the crazier thing was the fact that she took a can of beer from the fridge, first thing in the morning—or not so much crazy per se, but incredibly unhealthy.

Few hours passed; Tanya tidied herself and tried doing that to the office. as well But no matter how many times she tried it, the office remained untidy. It was the embodiment of Tanya's lifestyle. On top of that, she cracked open the sixth can of beer for the day and it wasn't even afternoon yet. Tanya's sense of balance was so supreme that even the sixth can didn't give her enough kick for the day. She drank beer like other people drank caffeine, which would also be unhealthy if you drank the way that Tanya drinks her beer. It was fascinating that she was alive and safe.

"Hey, Chuck! What are we even going to do now?" Tanya was bored. She regretted getting up.

"Well, we could get that ad done—the one you were talking about posting on MeTube," Chuck suggested. Lately, the customer number had been at an all-time low, so they had to boost up the numbers.

"I did that already. Look!" Tanya showed him the footage. It had more colors than the one hitting up an LSD could ever fathom. Chuck had no idea how she managed to do that.

For the next few hours, they put their heart and soul into fixing the video; but just like the office, no matter how much they fixed it, it still looked like a rainbow mix of colors and not an ad. However, they decided to post it, since weird and wacky seemed to do the trick on MeTube. But what followed was a barrage of hate comments and dislikes. However, it did get to the trending tab and they were able to make money out of a shitty video—which gave Tanya the idea of being a MeTuber, which Chuck strongly opposed.

"All these years and you still post these shitty videos on MeTube. You haven't changed a bit, have you? By the way, may I get in?" Enter Alice Rogers out of nowhere.
