Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Pasrit Swamp
The mission that Reif accepted required him to defeat magic beasts. Most of the time, missions like this have the highest level of danger
In order for Reif to train his body, he needs to frequently accept quests like this. If his body was trained to react even just a single second faster, that was already enough to dictate life and death
Since Reif already accepted the mission, he didn't waste any time and started heading towards the mission location
However, the three coveting his money were still following him. While thinking that they are troublesome, Reif exited the Town to deal with them
In the Spring Rise Kingdom, most of the lands that weren't habited by humans were mostly consist of forests. It was a land truly blessed with Eternal Spring
That was another reason why the Spring Royal Family was very famous. Their magical talents aligned with their territory as if they are the Clan made by the heavens to be rulers of this land
The world outside human inhabitants was filled with endless greenery. This kind of place was perfect for killing someone without anyone noticing
Killing might be prohibited inside the city but that is not the case outside it. As long as no one sees or reported you, no harm would arrive even if you kill a person
In fact, if the killer came from powerful families or organizations, who would even be able to touch them even if they act in the evilest way possible?
When Reif thought that this place was far enough, he suddenly runs surprising his followers
They thought that Reif noticed them and decided to run away. They gave chase to Reif but after he went behind a tree that prevented his followers from seeing him, he suddenly vanished
The three men gathered around the tree where they last saw Reif. One of them is a 3rd circle magician and the others are all 2nd circle ones
This kind of line-up is already considered as an elite from their town. Their strength was above average but they actually lost a brat that is just a 2nd circle magician
"Fuck, where did that kid go to?" One of the three cursed before turning his head to one of his accomplices
"Use your magic to search" the second man nodded his head at that. Out of the three, he was the one that is more skillful at sensing enemies or traps. He is what people can consider as a ranger mage
The second man kneeled in the ground and put his palms on it
"[Search!]" The man muttered and magical ripples spread around. As long as the ripples make any contact with Reif, he would be found with this magic
However, to the second man's surprise, he didn't manage to sense Reif at all. His search magic might not be omnipotent but generally, only mages that have a higher level than him can escape his senses
Reif is just a young kid. It was amazing that he is already a 2nd circle mage at his age but the man won't believe that he was skillful enough to avoid detection
"I-I didn't find him" the man said honestly with an ashen face. He felt like he loses a lot of face because of this
How can a grown-up like him fail to search for a small kid?
The other two with him furrowed their brows. If their ranger can't even find Reif, then they don't have a chance finding that kid
They felt that this was a wasted trip and they can't help but be angry for being tricked by a kid
However, before they can even let loose of their anger, thorny vines suddenly appeared from the tree they had surrounded
The vines didn't directly kill their targets but only scratch the calves of the three men
The three were also living as adventurers for a long time already and they jumped away from the vines
Only a small wound was inflicted in their body but that was enough to raise their guards. They didn't even sense where the enemy comes from and they are already injured although it was the kind of injury that won't affect them in the slightest
"Damn coward! Where are you?" The strongest man among the three shouted in rage. Completely forgetting the fact that they planned to kill a young kid to get his money
The senses of the three worked to their fullest but even after doing their best, they still didn't sense where the enemy is
That is until Reif decided to show himself. From the tree that these vile men surrounded earlier, Reif's head pokes out. It was like he came from the tree itself
At first, it was only his head before it was followed by his whole body. He just came out from the tree as if it was the most natural thing to do in the world
This is another power passed down by the Spring Clan to their offsprings - Nature Assimilation!
Even the untalented descendants can at least blend in with trees and finding them is not something that can easily be done. Any of these three doesn't have hope of sensing Reif's location at all
"I-it's you!" The 3rd circle mage said in shock before his enrage face turned even more savage. "Heh ... if you just quietly hide you might have been able to keep your life but you just have to show yourself. Prepare to die!"
The mage was about to use his magic before his eyes widened in pain. It's not just him but also the other two with him
When the three lowered their heads, they saw their veins became visible to the naked eye. It starts from the wound they got from the vines and traveled upwards their body
After a month, Reif learned quite a bit of information about his constitution. His blood only contained raw and pure poisonous energy and it was up to him to alter it in every use
His blood can basically be used into any type of poison as long as he ingested or injected it in the past
His blood can theoretically produce any kind of poison possible. Reif's constitution is something that any mage who specializes in poisonous arts will covet
After all, even the poison users are not 100% safe from their own poison. They gained powers that are lethal but they are also poisoning themselves
Compared to Reif that has poisonous energy in his blood that won't negatively affect him, they indeed look pitiful
It's just that to be able to make good use of his poison even after Reif recovered a lot of his power, he needs to strengthen his body
To do that, Reif needs a lot of resources that will increase the quality of his body especially his blood. Utilizing the poison in his body required the use of his vital energy
It will drain Reif's vitality if he uses too much poison with a weak body
The thorny vines Reif uses to scratch the three men from before contained his blood poison

"Y-you ... what did you do to us?!" The 3rd circle mage asked aggressively amidst the pain
The poison in their body sucked all of their strength and they were even forced to their knees

Reif didn't bother replying to them and clicked his fingers together. The pouch containing the money of the three floated towards Reif and he stored them inside his spatial ring
He only got money's worth of a few gold coins but it can be considered as a small payment for the trouble these three had made for him
After getting what he wants, Reif indifferently walks away. Their death was inevitable and he doesn't care about them anymore
"W-wait! I-if you kill us m-my brother won't Aahh !! L-let you go !!" The strongest of the three threatened but it only entered Reif's right ear just to come out to his left ear
In Reif's life, he already encountered thousands of people that threatened him using their relatives and backing. But in the end, it was him that continued living while the others were sent into hell by his own hands
This matter was concluded in such a simple way. For Reif, this is just a small thing, and he threw it at the back of his mind already
Reif uses magic on himself as he jumped from one tree to another. He didn't hire or bought any mount as this is another way to train his body
Not only would it train his magical skills but his body would also get used to his movements
It took Reif almost a week to arrive at his destination since he was traveling on foot
The location for Reif's mission is called the Pasrit Swamp. It was a swamp that not many people dared to enter
This swamp is the habitat of many poisonous and venomous creatures. 9 out of 10 living creatures here can use poisons. Even the remaining 1 would at least have strong poison resistance to stay alive in this swamp
Not everyone was like Reif that is immune and unafraid to poison. As a result, the number of adventurers entering this place was too low compared to other places
Thus, the commission fee for missions that required entering this swamp was generally higher. After all, most adventurers didn't dare enter this kind of place
Another way for Reif to continue increasing his poison power was intaking all sorts of poison again
The more poison he uses in himself, the stronger his poison would be and his poison resistance will also increase

Although the water in the swamp was not enough to kill, it still wasn't a comfortable feeling when making contact with them

The deeper Reif went into the swamp the darker the place becomes. The sounds that the insects made also becomes louder and louder
Suddenly, Reif sensed danger above him and he quickly formed a magic barrier to protect himself
When Reif raises his head, he saw around 7 small green leeches that fell to his magic barrier. These leeches were one of the things people would want to get from this swamp
It was one of the rare monsters in the swamp that didn't use poison. But after living in an environment filled with poisonous creatures, these leeches poison immunities were developed
Some mages use them to test the poison they had made. The stronger the poison resistance of their test subject, the more time and money they can save
However, since the leeches need to be brought back alive, it was not easy to get ahold of them making their price a bit high than normal test subjects
If Reif can, it also wouldn't be bad to sell them but he currently doesn't have the ability to take them back alive unless he departed into this forest right away
