Chapter 14: Felon Savior
As she struggled in the maw, the fleshy inside contradicted the metal body of the Ukonvasara. Erina crawled upon the lower jaw, trying to keep from falling into the throat.
Saliva excreting from every pore, constantly hindering her progress.
"(I can get out. I can get out. I can get out. I can get out.)" Erina thought constantly clinging to every mass of flesh she could find.
Through the darkness, she waded through mounds of flesh desperately trying to escape.
"AAAGGH!" she let out a scream as she was turned over and slid back down the gullet. She tried over and over again to get back up, but it only served to increase her frustration.
Erina could feel a wall of flesh push her back and she found herself stuck on the mounds. Rank air filled the maw. As she tossed and turned a piece of the gboro-gboro came into view.
Erina felt powerless as she watched it disappear into the darkness below.
She could no longer move at this point. The sensation of being closed in was only increased by the smell of the crocodile's innards.
As her fear increased, Erina's tried to shout.
DAD!...
KOTA!....
EMIL!!...
...ERIC...
This is what he went through, isn't it?
He died in this exact same way?
...Well....I"ll ask him...
The girl's eyes began to close, waiting for death.
In that moment light filled the throat.
"(Eric...?)" Erina thought faintly.
As she began to lose consciousness, she felt a tug.
Then a harder tug, moving her just out the walls of flesh.
In one rush she was flung out the Ukon's jaw.
Sano stood inside the Ukon's mouth using one arm to hold its upper jaw up and flinging Erina out with the other.
On instinct, she breathed in the clean air as she landed with a thud.
Sano held out his free hand and over Erina came flying his god-arc.
It flew past Sano into the throat and he jumped out of the Ukonvasara..
Tightening the muscles in his left hand, Sano waved his arm to the left.
The crocodile felt a bulge in their right side and felt something force him to hop to the right in pain.
"And here I thought I'd have to sneak around to go get your core, lucky me!" Sano said with a sinister smile.
He waved his hand again to the right, and the Ukonvasara. was forced again to the side.
It howled in pain and attempted to retreat.
It would find no escape as blue bullets hit its limbs, sticking it in place.
"YOU STAY RIGHT-THERE!" Kanon shouted as Kota comforted Erina.
"Erina, speak to me!" Kota shouted, as he lightly shook her to get a response.
The beast could not struggle out of the ice, as Sano continued to direct his god-arc inside its body.
With a few more swipes Sano raised his hand and the Ukon felt something push its way up to its turbine.
The claymore's blade erupted out of its back, breaking the turbine. The Ukon barely had the strength to struggle at this point.
The blade rotated so the edge was facing Sano. The blade tore through the machine croc's upper half through its face, like a saw.
It floated for a moment before it turned to face its blade to the beast.
With a fierce thrust, it jammed itself into the turbine. Sano followed after and split the back half of its body in two.
He wrenched the exposed core, crushing it, ensuring the end for the beast.
Kota and Kanon were frantically looking over Erina. She was still unresponsive, but conscious.
"Erina I'm gonna hit with you a healing bullet okay?" Kanon said softly hoisting her blaster above her head.
A lush green dew covered Erina, bringing some color back to her cheeks. But she remained still.
"Erina? Hey, you're safe." Kota said trying to comfort her. Kota tried to touch her shoulder, but Erina hid her eyes behind her hair when he did.
"Hey, I didn't break this." Sano said bluntly, holding up Erina's phone.
The moment Sano got near, Erina clung to his leg.
Erina shook, as she let out a whimper, clinging to his pant leg.
And then another, putting off Sano. Then she constantly shook, as she slowly looked at him with her blue eyes. The tears built up with every sniffle, and Sano's stoic expression softened up.
He lowered himself dropping the phone. Using his free hand, he gently caressed her head and rested his chin upon it.
"It's okay." Sano whispered, surprising Kota and Kanon. Those two words alone held such compassion.
"I won't let anything hurt you, I promise." he said.
Erina let her head fall into his chest and wailed with nothing holding her back.
God-Arc still in hand, Sano put both arms around Erina.
And so all of them just stood there, letting her cry as much as she needed.
He didn't know how much time had passed, but once Sano felt Erina go limp in his arms, he saw she was no longer conscious.
Erina let out tiny breaths as she slept.
"She cried herself to sleep." Kota said.
Kanon was close to balling her eyes out, as well, but kept herself composed for the girl.
Sano tucked her legs over his free arm and lifted with her head still in his chest.
"I've got her." he said, softly. Yet it felt like a command.
Kota was taken aback at seeing the once wolf-like eyes show so much care now.
"I've got her god-arc." Kota said, giving the inmate a nod before shifting his focus to the decaying Ukon.
"I'll call extraction." Kanon said, bring out her own phone. So far all she had felt towards ppSano's accomplishments were admiration. But as soon as she saw him force open that Ukonvasara.'s jaw and whisk out Erina, it was pure respect.
