Chapter 10: 10
Warning all readers, Alice is not stronger than Yami at almost any point other than swordsmanship, she only won this fight because Yami was holding back so as not to destroy the whole place.

"I was about to surpass my limits, I didn't need to have saved myself." Yami grumbled to Julius who continued to laugh out loud at the situation and with a wave of his hand released Alice from her prison making her stagger forward with her hand on her head, "This is still quite painful." Alice grumbled as she took a steadying breath to lessen the headache she was having as a side effect.
Applause! Applause!
"It was a good fight, miss." Julius congratulated Alice who didn't even look at him going straight to Yami and lowering his head, "I apologize for my irrational behavior sir captain, I was very excited to face someone stronger than me." She said and without waiting for Yami to digest all the words she started walking back towards the crowd that was all wide eyed and mouthed.
A space was opened in the crowd for her and no one dared approach for a moment but soon a small figure ran out of the crowd and went to Alice, "Sister you were so cool!!!" Asta screamed with stars in his eyes and Alice remained impassive on the outside but gave a small smile mentally.
"Be silent Asta, the test will begin!" She scolded the little dwarf who stood beside her with his eyes shining, he imagined that Alice would be strong and the image of her sister's almost invincible only solidified more in her head.
Julius who was ignored was a little hurt for a moment before teleporting him and Yami to the platform where the magic captains were who started giving small teasing smiles at Yami who was black in the face but just sat down too.
"I see we have great candidates this year Yami." Willian provoked Yami who just clicked his tongue and soon the captain of the golden dawn stood up and made his announcement speech, but of course everyone's eyes weren't focused on him but on the mage king who decided to attend an entrance exam for the first time .
"Sorry for the wait young candidates, I will now start the exam for magic knights, I wish you good luck!" He said and cast a spell from his grimoire, "This mana, it's very dense." Alice who was on the ground noticed that William had lots, lots of mana enough to conjure a tree from the sky out of thin air.
"However this is strange, I feel the presence of another type of energy in him, what is it?" She wondered but decided to leave that subject for another time, it was none of her business what each captain had or did.
Soon the branches of the world tree stretched out and formed brooms for all the candidates on the spot before retreating to the skies, "A broom?" Alice looked at that stick and instinctively was offended, "Am I going to have to use this to fly?" She thought and soon a feeling of displeasure came over her along with a certain shame.
In her past life memories the only ones who flew on broomsticks were the wizards from Harry Potter and even then it was extremely embarrassing to see almost adult teenagers climbing on brooms.
"Very well, let's start the Magic Knights Exam!" William declared as he closed his book and started to give a brief explanation of how to fly but Alice didn't pay him any attention as she looked at the broom, "Well, let the test begin!" He declared and soon the candidates started trying to fly.
Charlotte watching the candidates started to reflect a bit seeing the test, "Just by watching them fly we know what kind of mages they are, however why isn't the girl who fought Yami trying to fly? Is it because of the dwarf on the side of her who can't either?" She fixed her eyes on Alice with a bit of curiosity and anger, she naturally saw the previous confrontation and if it wasn't for the Wizard King stopping them she could have decided and helped Yami to contain Alice.
Alice who was on the floor stood there for a moment looking at the broom before letting out a sigh of displeasure and moving her arm, "There, let's see what kind of mage you are." all the magic captains thought internally and turned their focus to Alice who surprised everyone with her next action.
Crack! BAM!
"DID SHE CRUSH THE BROOM?!!" Everyone almost internally screamed when they saw Alice crush the broom handle with one hand and throw both parts to the ground as if she wasn't going to use them, "What is she doing? If she doesn't have a broom she can't fly and so she failed the test!" Charlotte thought and to everyone's surprise Alice closed her eyes for a moment.
"What bullshit, I don't need a broom to fly!" She thought and immediately covered her body with mana by casting some adjustment spells right after that, the basis for mages to fly a broom is to simply put magic power into it so they can control it the way they want.
So all Alie had to do was use her own body as leverage, soon Alice's feet left the ground and she started flying higher and higher without any support and moving freely in the air.
"She, is she flying without a broom?" Charlotte thought a little surprised, until today she only saw the Wizard King fly without any support so it was a real surprise for her to see Alice flying without any support but not just for her, all the candidates and even captains were surprised by her performance.
"I'm getting the hang of it." Alice replayed Tanya's memories of aerial combat and flew freely in the air passing at high speeds all the candidates including Yuno who was proudly flying high, "Sister Alice remains as capable as ever." He thought and decided to train more when he had time.
After flying for a bit Alice landed next to Asta who was trying to fly with her broom and touched her with a finger injecting her mana, right after that the broom started to float and Asta almost fell off of it unprepared.
" Thank you sister!" He yelled and Alice just let out a sigh and stayed on the floor waiting for the next test.
