Chapter 38: "I will fucking kill him."

"I'm sorry, I can't," I say backing away from Luca last minute. I can't kiss him. I almost want to, but can't. Because I know I shouldn't.

Confusion is written all over his face and I try to hide from it knowing I'm the cause of that look on his face. I try to sit back down in the booth near us and almost end up falling over. I'm out of breath and my head is spinning.

I must be really drunk.

"Emerald? Is there something wrong?" Luca sits in the seat that's opposite to mine in the same booth and massages his temples.

"Yeah. I mean I guess so." Luca stares at me. "No. I'm not fine." My head is spinning like crazy.

A man who looks to be in his late 20s is at the door smirking and an uneasy feeling flips in the bottom of my stomach. I try to ignore the man and reach for a paper towel to dry my hands but he grabs at me. I feel his fingernail pull off a piece of my flesh and wince.
