Chapter 5: Chapter-5 Laura's Suspicion on Oliver

"Oh Lydia, my eyes did not turn red. They have been black since I was born and they still are black. I think you are still tired from the party. That is why you are seeing things. See they are black", Oliver said leaning forward towards Lydia. I immediately tried to read his mind but he was not thinking anything.

Lydia said, " No I am not that tired. I am sure that your eyes glowed for a second and they even turned red for a second before you covered Taylor's hand."

We all looked at Oliver, then suddenly Eliza started laughing and said, " Lydia dear, you are very tired. You are imagining things. It's not like Oliver is a lizard or a vampire. How can his eyes turn red." Everyone started laughing ignoring Lydia's protests in which she kept on insisting that she was right. No one gave heed to her words but I saw that Oliver's laughter felt fake. As if he was trying to show others that he is laughing. It felt weird.

After breakfast, Dad left for office. Eliza, Taylor and Oliver left to get ready for school. I and Lydia were going back to our rooms and at that time I asked Lydia to follow me to my room. After shutting the door of my room I asked Lydia, " Tell me Lydia, what were you saying about Oliver's eyes? "

Lydia said with admiration in her eyes, " Do you trust me sis. I thought that no one believes me".

"Of course I trust you. You are my one and only sister. How can I not trust you. Now tell me what did you see, in detail" .

Lydia hugged me and said, " Thank you sis. So, Taylor always gets hurt whenever he plays with me so a small cut was not a big deal to me. When I saw that the cut wasn't even deep just a scratch and the faces you all made were funny to me. I was looking at every one's faces and the first one whose face I saw was Oliver. The moment Oliver saw Taylor's cut, his eyes turned red but the next second they were back to black. Oliver seemed stressed with Taylor's cut. He quickly covered it and then gave a sign of relief. It was as if it was Oliver who was hurt instead of Taylor."

I heard everything and then told Lydia, " Ok I will ask Oliver about it. Now don't worry and go get ready for school. We are leaving in half an hour."

After Lydia left I tried to think of the reason because Lydia never lies and she could not be seeing things. I could not find a proper answer to this question even though I kept on thinking about the reason. I don't think that eyes can change colour in just seconds. People have different eye colours because they wear contact lenses but Oliver was not wearing any. So what is the reason that Oliver's eyes changed colour. I do not have enough time to think about all this. We will be late for school,if we don't hurry up.

I hurriedly got ready, took my bag, keys and hurried to school and we were late. I reached class five minutes late and I met Taylor and Eliza in the lobby. All three of us were late. Our teacher commented that the three Musketeers were late together. We have been together since a very young age so together we were called 'The Three Musketeers'.

Teacher asked us to take our seats then said, " Students, we now have a new student who will join our class. Be good to him", and then Oliver walks in our class. All three of us were surprised. The teacher asked Oliver to introduce himself. After introduction, the teacher asked Oliver to sit between Taylor and Eliza. I was sitting with Eliza and Taylor was sitting beside her. When Oliver sat down I asked him," Oliver, you didn't tell us that you are transferred to our school and that too in our class".

Oliver replied, " I forgot to mention that and I didn't know that this was your class but I did tell Taylor that I will be going to this school."

" What? Me? ", Taylor asked surprised, " When? When did you tell me? ".

Oliver looked at Taylor in his eyes and said, " I told you buddy. You must have forgotten." and then Taylor immediately said, " Oh yes, now I remember. You told me. I had forgotten, girls. He told me."

I was surprised. Taylor has always been energetic to make new friends and introduce them to us. He will never forget to mention that his new friend will go to our school.The teacher interrupted us and told us to focus in class. After classes I sent a message in our group chat to ask Eliza and Taylor to meet me in my house. We planned to meet at 4:00pm and I asked Taylor not to bring Oliver with him.

When we met I immediately asked them, " Don't you guys find Oliver weird? "

Eliza replied, " Yes, he is".

Taylor immediately favoured him and said, " What is weird about him? He is a nice guy. He is helpful and I feels like he is interested in you, Laura."

" What? Me? In what way?", I asked Taylor.

He replied, " Since he met you at the party, he has been asking questions about you like: your birthday, your likes, dislikes, friends, accquaintence, etc. He even accepted your birthday party invitation when I told him that today is my best friend, Laura's birthday."

I asked "What? So he came to my birthday because of me not because his friend invited him to a party."

Eliza said, " This is suspicious. He didn't even meet you but accepted the invitation just by the mention of your name, Laura "

I said, " He is suspicious in many aspects and Taylor how can you forget to mention that he will go to our school."

" I swear I had no idea but I think he mentioned it. It is as if he never told me but also like he told me. I am not able to understand", Taylor replied.

Eliza said, " Taylor, how did you even meet him? "

" I was going to buy a birthday present for Laura when I heard my phone ringing. I did not notice that I was standing at a crosswalk and a car was zooming in front of me. It was about to hit me but then suddenly, out of nowhere Oliver came and saved me. I was thankful to him so I invited him for a drink as a token of my gratitude. We became friends quickly and I invited him to your party. Rest all you both already know."

Eliza, instead of focusing on the main thing said, " Taylor, you drank in day and that too on Laura's birthday."

He replied, "I only had one drink and it was not that big of a deal."

I interfered them because a fight was about to break out between them and said, " Guys focus. Oliver saved Taylor from an accident. Then they became friends. Oliver accepted my birthday party invitation just by the mention of my name. He was inquiring about me. He is in our class but we didn't know. His eyes even changed colour on seeing Taylor's cut. All of this is suspicious."

Taylor said, "Oliver was not inquiring about you. He was just asking to get to know you and maybe I myself forgot to mention that Oliver is in our class and his eyes did not change colour. You are just overthinking." Eliza said, " Yes Laura, aren't you exaggerating it. Maybe he just likes you and that is why he was asking about you. But why did he come to your party just by the mention of your name." I then told them what I heard when I read his mind. Taylor finally said, " Now that was suspicious.... "

Taylor was about to say something but we heard a doorbell. Mom answered the door and said, " Laura, Oliver has come to visit you." We were all shocked and unable to do anything. I was making notes of everything and did not know what to do now.
