Chapter 12: Unexplained Tears
Master Egon and his friend Master Leo had earlier planned to leave for Tolaria as early as possible to meet with King Erikson to inform him about his son's disappearance and what has happened before they disappeared but later in the night an information was passed to all the tutors and trainers in the caves of Mako to assemble for a meeting that the Grand head incharge will be coming to see and speak to them the next morning so they had to stay back for the meeting instead of leaving very early as they had planned. They had to wait till after the meeting before they leave because no one is allowed to miss such an important meeting. Now after the meeting while they were about leaving a message was brought to master Egon to inform him that he had a visitor, someone wanted to see him outside the gates of the caves. He wondered who the person was because he was not expecting any visitor to come see him without prior notice and especially not at that time that he wanted to go out. His mind went to King Erikson's family because it's only that family that are always at the gate and never enters inside for fear of been attacked. He hurried down to the gate with his friend Leo to see who it was, on getting there it was truely King Erikson. The king had decided to stop by the caves to see his son while returning from his trip that morning. Anytime he went to the caves he had always stopped his guards somewhere and rode on his own to the place with the excuse he has a relative that lives a secluded life somewhere in the forest around there that doesn't like anyone accompanying him when he visits .
He missed his son and decided to see him shortly since he has not visited him for a while even though he knew that Hedy his brother was supposed to visit him the day before. Master Egon and his friend Leo greeted king Erikson and they all went down to the place where he had always receive them. Master Egon had to narrate everything that happened the previous day and how they had sneaked into the kingdom in order to show his son some things about his Kingdom and how they had overheard the people that planned how to attack and kill prince Hedy, how they had tried to protect him there at the forest and how he came to the place where they were supposed to be and was not able to find his two sons.
At first when king Erikson heard all that Master Egon had narrated he was very angry that Walter was allowed to sneak into Tolaria without him knowing but then he had a second thought if not for that singular act of Master Egon his son Hedy might have been dead and no one would know what had happened to him.
Even though the two of them seem to be missing right now and nobody knows where they went to. it's still a good thing they found out someone was planning against the royal family and wanted Hedy dead. It will help them take precautions and be always alert.
They decided that they will head back to the palace first, then a search would be conducted and see if any of them were in the palace. If they don't succeed then they would have to extend the search to other Kingdoms. King Erikson left first to meet his guards where they were waiting for him on the road and then headed back to the kingdom while Master Egon and his friend Leo were to come behind him.
Now getting to the palace King Erikson was welcomed and later informed by Commander Hans that something had happened to Hedy but he is well taken care of in the royal treatment chambers while the man whom they found the prince in his carriage was arrested and had been in the palace prison waiting for his arrival for judgement to be passed on him.
Immediately he heard this he stood up from his throne and ran straight to the palace prison leaving everyone including the queen confused. They had expected him to go see Hedy first but he had gone to the palace prison instead. They thought maybe he had gone to punish the man himself.
King Erikson ran all the way down to the palace prison hoping that what he was thinking was not true...He had hoped it wasn't his beloved son Walter they had imprisoned but again he hoped too that this man should be of help to say where Walter was since Hedy is safe and in the palace well taken care of.
It was unsual for the king to go see a prisoner, prisoners are brought before him but in this case he ran to the prison yard himself, no one knew his reasons but they all followed him without questions.
As he was running, the others ran after him except the queen who stayed behind but later went to her own chambers. They showed him the particular cell where they had kept the stranger. The king stood there anxious, his eyes wide open waiting for this man to come out. One of the prison guards hurriedly went inside the cell to bring him out, Walter was already too weak to move he had no water nor food, he had practically starved more than his body could carry and in a bid not to loose control and feed or kill anyone he lost consciousness. The guard came out and asked another guard to come help him carry him out since he could no longer move. They carried him out of the cell and immediately the king saw his face he fell down on his knees and cried bitterly. Everyone got more confused and astonished on what was really happening. It was not enough that the king had to run down to the prison to see this man now he is on the ground crying because of him.
"Your Majesty, this is not proper, whatever this is please get hold of yourself and get up back on your feet, you are the king and should not be seen in the open like this", one of the cheifs who followed him down there said to him and holding him to help him stand up.
Hearing these words from his cheif, King Erikson tried to hold back his tears and got back on his feet wiped his eyes and face with his royal handkerchief and immediately gave orders that Walter be carried into the royal treatment chambers so that the doctors will take care of him. They did as he had ordered as no one deared to question his others.
The king on returning to his throne the presence of Master Egon and Leo was announced to him, he ordered them to be brought in and asked others to leave so he could have a private conversation with the two men.
The king narrated what just happened to them and told them Walter had just been taken to the royal treatment chambers. They were relieved that the two princes were really safe and not missing as they had earlier thought. But they feared for what might become of Walter because of his present state. He might get out of control if he wakes up.
The three of them went hurried down to the Royal treatment Chambers where the two princes were been treated.
