Chapter 40: Magic Nerds

Roxus looked flustered. "Ah but I'm not that great. If I want to strike someone with lightning at the other end of the world, at least I have to meet them once and know their mana type, so I can't just strike someone with lightning," Roxus explained.

"That's not the problem!" Juverin furrowed his brows deeply. "Lady Archmage, I've lived for 1700 years in this world, but I've never heard of an Archmage as talented as you. The last Archmage I know is a pacifist whose hobby is shutting himself up to satisfy himself with magical research, but even though he's the strongest human I've ever met, he's not as amazing as you!"

"Oh, Lord Juverin mean, Archmage Delaroce? He is someone I admire. It's a shame that he died several hundred years ago," said Roxus with great interest.

Juverin massaged his forehead in frustration.

"Now do you understand? This woman is truly cursed. The gods created her so talented, but the gods also created her as a human. Imagine if Roxus was born as an elf, she would have become a Demigod by now," said Lucifer, shifting Juverin away.

"And with the magical knowledge you have, your human body won't be able to endure it, even if, let's suppose that your Origination theory is a suitable theory for you to follow. Actually, you may not need any dragon heart, but that's if you are patient and don't rush. Lately, you've been working hard to make magic items for Princess Cecilia, then cast protection spells for everyone, scattering your artificial spirits everywhere, and build magical walls. What's more, that woman appeared and hurt you…" Lucifer shook his head with a sad expression.

"That woman?" asked Juverin, so interested.

Lucifer kept his silence.

"So in essence, Ayunda doesn't need a dragon heart, but because Ayunda is overworked, she needs a Dragon Heart?" asked Ernacht then.

"It makes sense," said Juverin. "To stabilize one's body, Dragon's Heart is the very best alternative. Well, I'm glad my son's heart can be of good use like this," he said in a soft voice.

"Ah, Milord, I have to thank you for giving Milord's son's heart for granted. I want to offer to help in return, so please talk about issues that I might be able to help with in the future," Roxus said.

"Nonsense. If you dare to trouble Roxus, I will cut your neck and take your heart," said Lucifer.

"Luci..." Roxus looked at Lucifer with a look full of warning.

"This guy is just a Dragon, come on!"

"A dragon who cut your hand," Roxus teased.

"Okay, enough. Now I will kill him and give you his heart." Lucifer put his hand on Juverin's shoulder once again.

Juverin got goosebumps. He blinked at Roxus with a smile full of hope. "Lady doesn't need to give me anything. Lady just needs to prevent your lover from cutting my age short," said Juverin quietly.

"Short? You shameless old man."

Lucifer glanced coldly at Juverin. Meanwhile, Juverin could feel the laser gaze heating up in the back of his head. He chuckled in a dry voice. "Cough!" he coughed for a moment to clear his throat. "Very well, Lashet, Sonja, I will soon come to see you in the afterlife," he muttered.

Truly extraordinary. Eoin and Amaranth were speechless. Ernacht watched with great interest. Lucifer who considered an Ancient Dragon to be just like an insect, and his sincere sister—

"Ahem!" Eoin quickly broke all this risky conversation and took a deep breath. "Amy, will you show us the room for our guest?"

Amaranth nods quickly. "Come on, Lord Juverin. We have prepared a room for you to rest while you're here," said Amaranth.

Lucifer furrowed his brows in displeasure. Juverin escaped death this time and Lucifer couldn't argue when Eoin and Amaranth themself who got in the way. But that expression of displeasure vanished as Roxus slowly waved her hand. She asked Lucifer to come closer, making Lucifer can't help but focus on her. "Do you want to help me?" she asked.

"Help? All right, but you go to sleep," said Lucifer dryly.

Roxus shook her head. "There are things I want to do with you. From earlier, my body felt hot and uncomfortable. You have to help me a little."

Roxus rubbed her upper arm slowly. Lucifer furrowed his brows, but his face flushed slightly. "...oh? But…" asked Lucifer trying to sound flat and low. He glanced at Roxus's parents with lightning speed and awkwardness.

Eoin, Amaranth, and Juverin raised their eyebrows high at Lucifer and Roxus's conversation. Ernacht raised his eyebrows but for a different reason, he did not understand. "Um, I can also help if Ayunda wants?"

"Ernacht!" Eoin and Amaranth called their youngest son and quickly pulled Ernacht out of the room.

"Ahem, you two stay in the room and rest. Good night," said Eoin, leaving the door shut behind him.

It's quiet.

The reactions of her parents made Roxus sigh with a flushed face. "I'm trying to control mana with my current body, why are you all misunderstanding?" Roxus asked quietly.

Lucifer chuckled. "Hmm, I didn't expect your family to be open-minded. Before, they didn't even allow the two of us to be alone in a closed room like this for more than five minutes," said Lucifer quietly.

"Father accepts a pregnant mother as his wife, you think they are not open-minded?" Roxus asked.

"Hmm," Lucifer nodded his head.

Roxus opened her palms and closed her eyes. Lucifer slowly sat beside Roxus and concentrated. For a moment, they remembered the past, when Lucifer was still starting to teach Roxus magic. They do this a lot, where Roxus circulates mana in her body, and Lucifer concentrates on her side and acts if something bad happens.

That night, they didn't sleep.

.

A servant slowly knocked on Roxus's room door before dawn. Behind the servant, Amaranth stands with her arms folded across her chest. Eoin advised to wake up his daughter gently this morning, and if something happened between the two people inside, then this matter should be handled calmly.

No answer. The servant in front of Amaranth turns to her, and Amaranth nods. The servant opened the door, and the two of them entered. Amaranth then sees Roxus still sitting in the same position as last night, and on the chair next to the bed, a man is sitting with his eyes closed. The two of them didn't budge, but slowly, Amaranth could feel something.

The mana in this room rotates by a systematic method. The cycles are so gentle that if Amaranth doesn't concentrate, she won't be conscious of it. Slowly, Roxus's eyes opened, and she turned to Amaranth and the servant who had appeared. Roxus smiled and raised her finger above her lips. The mana cycle in the room stopped slowly.

Amaranth furrowed her brows. So the two of them weren't...

Roxus grabbed Lucifer's face slowly, causing Lucifer to quickly open his eyes. "Did you fall asleep?" Roxus asked quietly.

"Oh," Lucifer sat up. "Are you done?" he asked.

Roxus nodded.

"Forgive me. Let me see the state of your body," said Lucifer, and Roxus stretched out her hand for Lucifer to check.

Amaranth can see Lucifer is just waking up and doesn't realize she is there. Amaranth then leaves from there with a happy expression and somehow also with disappointments. Eoin stood at the end of the corridor, waiting for Amaranth who quickly walked out of the room.

Amaranth shakes her head. "Nothing happened. They practised mana circulation overnight," said Amaranth.

"Oh."

As soon as Amaranth turned around, a man walked out of Roxus's room and gave a wide yawn. He looks tired. His footsteps remained steady even though he walked while stretching his left shoulder. Lucifer seemed very used to this activity.

Amaranth and Eoin furrowed their brows. Does that mean that Lucifer was used to staying alone the night with Roxus before?

Well, they probably didn't do anything during those times, like last night.

But it feels a little strange for them knowing this fact now.
