I finish constructing Jessica's weapon, and its stats are identical to Little Boy. I hold it out to her, and she takes it from my hand. "Pick a good name. You won't be able to change it." She nods her head as she looks at it in joy.
I don't know what she'll name it, but she has good taste, and I'm sure it'd be a good one. Not corny like mine. Little Boy was the name of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima in WWII in 1945. Several centuries before today. Too bad WWIII was the war we saw the true power that a nuclear weapon can have when used on a population.
After all, Hydrogen bombs are much more powerful than Atomic. "So, what are we going to do now?" She asks me a question as my mind deviates to the topic of humanity's 20th and 21st-century superweapons. Those are thoughts for another time.
I look at her and see how eager she is to continue playing with me, but sadly I have things to prepare for. In about 9 hours, a flight tester is coming, and I will be taking the test to get my pilot's license. So I have to run some diagnostics on Autumns Fall. Change some things about it.
I look at her, knowing that I'll have to disappoint her. "We aren't going to be doing anything. I have several things to do before I meet with the flight tester in 9 hours. So I suggest you head to the shooting range and test out your new weapon. After that, feel free to do whatever." She looks incredibly disappointed.
She looks at me with a sort of puppy dog eyes. I roll my eyes as I exit the room and the apartment too. She is close on my tale, hoping I'll reconsider my idea. "Jess, go away. We'll hang out some more later." She finally lets up and heads out of the workshop.
However, I stay in the workshop. I look towards Autumn's Fall, and I can't help the smile growing on my face. I've already made plenty of changes for the flight test in 9 hours. However, I've learned so much in the time after I built the starship.
The least I can do is improve the systems and coding in the ship even further. I walk up to the ship, and I enter the single pilot's seat. The ship hums to life, sensing that I'm inside, and I pull up the computer and start working. There are plenty of things to do, but starting with flight sensitivity should be the first.
I work on Autumns Fall for the next hour and a half. The reason I'm stopping now is that I see a familiar bounty hunter enter the workshop. I stop what I'm doing, and I exit the ship. I calmly approach Durado, curious as to why he's here.
He's likely looking for help finding Ziller, or he's already found him and is here to get me for the job. Only one way to find out. "Hey, Durado! What brings you here ahead of schedule?" I try and sound excited to see him, which I am, but he has a serious and frustrated look on his face. So I adopt a more serious attitude myself.
He leans against the wall as I finally stand in front of him. We are the same height. "Ziller Maxx is proving to be too hard to find on my own. I hope that you can do something with this." He tosses me a datapad, and I begin to read through it.
It's new information on Ziller Maxx. Locations he's been, known associates, points of interest—my mind races as I absorb the information. I see many patterns in the data regarding Ziller Maxx. He likes junkyards—more superficially malfunctioning Hyperdrives. I already know what he's planning based on all this.
I sigh as I put the finally pieces together. I know where he's going to be. "He needs a location of low elevation if he wants to Quantum Split the entire planet. So he's likely in Newton-2. It's the city that has a railway leading to a mining operation. Once he collects enough of the malfunctioning Hyperdrives underground, he'll create the Quantum split. I suggest we move fast. I doubt there's much time left." I hand the datapad back to Durado and see his shocked expression. This is going to be the first time I leave Newton-14. It's to stop a madman from Quantum splitting the planet too.
