Chapter 29: Maybe A Devil

Yara Amiel walked inside the tent, having no idea of what awaited her. Then she halted when she saw a man whose back was facing her.

'He must be the infamous Karium Maselli, the so-called God of War,' she thought to herself.

"Greetings, Your Highness. I'm Princess Yara Amiel of Avaria," she introduced herself to the mysterious man whose face she still didn't see.

Hearing the familiar voice, Karium Maselli finally turned around, revealing his face to her. The moment her gaze landed on him, her eyes grew wide opened as if she saw a ghost! Unconsciously, she flinched and took a step back.

However, the Welahan Prince nodded at her as if he didn't remember her. His face was quite stoic in contrast to his carefree smile that day. "Greetings, Princess. I'm Karium Maselli," he said, his tone a bit solemn.

He appeared calm and he was sure that she won't have an idea about how uneasy he felt on the inside. His calm yet cold facade will surely conceal everything.

"You... " Princess Yara muttered. "It's you! You're the Prince of Welahan?" she asked with disbelief written all over her face.

Karium Maselli nodded once. "Yes. Just like you're the Princess of Avaria."

Yara Amiel observed the familiar man before her. Everything about him seemed to be the same as the man she met in that forest, except his cold aura. Then her gaze stopped at his hair. She was reminded of the time when he was so protective of the cloak that covered his hair.

Silver icy blue hair. According to the rumors, the infamous God of War had silver icy blue hair but... she never believed it. Who would be born with such a hair color?

But now, she finally understood the whole thing, the reason why he was so sensitive about showing his hair!

"Please have a seat," Karium Maselli said to her and turned around. However...

He quickly turned to face her again and... he finds himself at the other end of her sword, for the third time.

"Did you approach me knowing my identity?" she inquired while pointing her sword at him. Her calm gaze was gone and replaced by a merciless one!

"Be careful, Princess," Prince Karium warned her in a low voice. "Do you forget where you are or your purpose? I'm not one to be carelessly pointed with a sword."

He was the complete opposite of the man in her memory. His carefree chat and laughter, his rare yet golden nature... was everything a fake?

When the Princess didn't make any movement, Karium Maselli turned to the entrance of the tent. "General Moris."

Not even five seconds passed and the General in question instantly appeared. His eyes flew wide open when he saw the Princess pointing her sword at his Prince. Just when he was about to unsheathe his sword...

"Don't bother."

He heard the Prince command and it made him blinked.

"Where are the Generals who escort Her Highness? I think the Princess is not in a condition to negotiate this time," the Prince calmly continued.

General Moris was feeling confused. However, when he glanced at the Avarian Princess again, he somehow understood a bit. "I will get them, Your Highness," he responded and bowed before he turned around.

"There's no need for that," Princess Yara finally broke her silence. This made the General halted.

Putting down the sword, Yara Amiel met Prince Karium's gaze bravely. "I apologize for that, Prince Karium. I think the negotiation should go as planned."

General Moris stared at the Prince, waiting for his decision. Then he finally left when the Prince nodded.

Once they were the only ones in the tent again, Prince Karium sat on one of the chairs and offered her to take a seat as if nothing happened. Trying her best to remain calm, the Princess complied.

Even now, she wondered what would be his real self. That carefree and strange soul or... the ice-cold man opposite her?

"So... you're the God of War?" she started, studying his every expression.

"I'm no God, Princess. Just a human," Karium Maselli replied. This time, he wasn't as cold as he was before.

"Maybe a devil then," Yara Amiel coldly remarked.

"I've heard that many times," Karium Maselli simply responded. He was so far from being offended!

This man knew a lot about her. So, Yara Amiel didn't deem it necessary to put on an act. She will only be tormenting herself.

"You approach me on purpose, don't you? What did you try to benefit by doing that?" she asked. She was more than curious but... she won't show him. After all, he was an enemy!

Karium Maselli tilted her head, observing her for a while. Then he said, "I can see that you can't wait to kill me."

"..."

"You should stop dreaming about it," he added. "I won't give you the chance to do that anyway."

He really approached her on purpose?! The Princess blood boiled in a split second! She was hoping that she would be mistaken!

Her anger was gone when she realized his identity again. After all, he was Karium Maselli, the infamous Commander and Prince of Welahan.

What did she even expect?

"You're the one who suggests for the negotiation to take place," Karium Maselli pointed out. "Don't you have anything to say about that topic?"

Yara Amiel was reminded of her purpose for coming here. Then she adjusted her sitting position, trying to give out a more formal vibe. "We apologize for causing that incident by crossing the border. It was never our intention."

It wasn't wrong of the Welahans to attack the soldiers of their enemy kingdom who crossed the border, no matter what the reason was. So, she had to apologize for the negotiation to work, even though they also suffered quite a loss.

"I'm well aware of that," Karium Maselli remarked.

The Avarian Princess was quite tired of his short response by now. However, as she was an expert in pretending, she didn't show anything.

Little did she know the Welahan Prince already saw through her! He was confident that she wasn't that patient. The woman he met in the forest was never patient. He was even intrigued by how she was finally so good at controlling herself and... it made him wondered just how long had she live this fake life.....
