Chapter 2: People in cloaks

Chapter 2 - People in cloaks

After Floyde Wolfe opened his eyes, he laid his head up instantly. "Huh?! Where's the cow?" Not realizing the situation he was in, he then saw people wearing black cloaks, kowtowing to his direction. They had their hoods on that he couldn't clearly see their faces. There were about 9 people.

"χαρμολύπη!"

"ψυχή!"

They were chanting foreign words in unison.

"So, I'm not dead?! Huh... to think I would let myself be persuaded that I was dead. That was just a silly dream. The cow was all a dream and me, floating, pfftt... Hmm, who saved me then?"

Floyde said to himself, reassuring that this really wasn't a dream, ignoring the people that were kowtowing in front of him as they faced him. Believing that they were the ones that saved him from the snow, he looked at them with gratitude, because that would mean he could still live. This is his second chance to live properly. He wouldn't let this chance slip again and would live his life to the fullest.

Seeing where he was in, Floyde was in a large hall that was made of stone that had pillars on each side. He looked at his clothes that were ripped, both shirt and pants.

He then saw his hands and feet chained up on the sides of a round stone table he was in, being in an awkward X position. His legs and hands were covered with bruises, painting his chest with blood marking "͵ε".

His hands and feet were bleeding. It would seem he was hurt badly, but he couldn't feel anything at the moment. But after a second, he groaned in pain.

"GAAAGHH!!"

Just now, he received the pain from his body, he couldn't tolerate it. He tried to break free while enduring the pain in his body. The pain was so painful that his mind went crazy as he moved around in many directions while chained up, going on a rampage.

Gritting his teeth while the pain lessened a bit as he was now calm, he gazed directly at the person who the people in black cloaks stood up and made way for.

He was a middle-aged man that had dark-green hair with a bowl-cut style that didn't suit him. His face was ghastly, he had a cleft chin, his hair was disheveled, his body was pale and his brown eyes were red with black spots under them. One can distinguish that he hasn't been sleeping for a period amount of time. He was wearing a white cloak and he wasn't using his hood—you could clearly distinguish his face.

He then started walking straight to Floyde with a frowning look on his face, with veins pulsing in his temple.

"Αγαπώ την Ελλάδα— ", Floyde couldn't understand what the guy in front of him said, but little by little his ears could slowly understand what the middle-aged man was saying.

"Tsk! What happened here?! This was the last process. We could've almost reincarnate Demon Lord Belial!" The guy wearing a white cloak in front of Floyde shouted furiously.

The fact that he could clearly understand the middle-aged man was something to be astonished for Floyde. The guy then directed his gaze at Floyde—with malicious intent. Out of thin air, he suddenly pulled out a knife from his inner cloak, then, he stabbed Floyde with no second of hesitation. "He's now useless."

"AAAGHHH!!"

The injured state Floyde was in earlier was still excruciating. Even though the pain lessened, stabbing him out of nowhere didn't decrease it. Rather, it made it worse.

Blood burst out of Floyde's waist, splashing and painting the white cloak of the middle-aged man in front of him with his blood.

The middle-aged man looked at Floyde with a displeased look after seeing his hand and cloak dyed in red. Floyde was still screaming in pain, in agony. At the moment, he didn't know what to do except to shout.

"Aghhh! Why the heck did you stab me?!"

"Cause you messed things up, there's no use for you now," nonchalantly muttered the middle-aged man as he stabbed Floyde again on his waist.

'Weren't you the ones who saved me from the snow? Why would you treat me like this?!'

Floyde thought to himself while adjusting to the feeling of being stabbed again.

Amongst that, Floyde could feel the gazes of the people in black cloaks peering at him with no intention of helping. Now was the time he fully understood how people felt when they get stabbed.

"What did this brat even do to make our efforts all in vain! I thought you casted a sleeping spell on him?" The middle-aged man looked at the people in black and yelled with a hideous face.

The people who had black cloaks on consulted with each other, trying to figure out what happened. They shook their heads sideways to the middle-aged man to let him know that they also had no idea.

Floyde looked at them with puzzlement even though the pain won't stop spreading through his entire body.

The middle-aged man glanced back at Floyde, then stabbed him again.

The middle-aged man saw the relentlessnsss

of Floyde who wanted to keep on living, so he furrowed his brows in anguish.

"UGHH!! WHY DON'T YOU JUST DIE ALREADY!" he exclaimed annoyingly to Floyde.

Abruptly, he raised his arms, leaving the knife still at Floyde's waist, pouncing him with his palms. And something ignited within his palms—it was fire.

Floyde didn't know what expression he had to put after receiving more pain in his body. His face looked pale as if too much blood was lost from his body. He just stared blankly at the hand of the middle-aged man that was releasing flames.

The fire he sent aimed at his chest. Floyde was being burnt alive as it slowly started reaching other parts of his body.

"AAGGGHHH!! ITTT HURRRTTSSS!!"

Floyde cried his pain out. He didn't want to feel like dying again. He wanted to enjoy his life fully after being saved from the snow by the people in front of him when he woke up—the people in cloaks. But after being stabbed by the person who saved you, he regretted his decision. Being dead is better than enduring more pain. All Floyde ever desired was to live his life to its fullest.

"Let's go! We have to find another way to reincarnate Demon Lord Belial, e ven if we have to massacre another entire town I don't care!"

After the flames released by middle-aged man slowly started engulf Floyde's body, all of them walked away and headed to the big door as if nothing happened. The people in black cloaks were following the middle-aged man from the behind.

Floyde cocked his head, thinking about what the middle-aged man said. After finally realizing what he said, Floyde curled his lips, looking at the people who were leaving in front of him with an icy stare.

'Don't they have a heart? No, no, they're devils who'd do anything to get want they want.'

"HEY!! COME BACK! DON'T LEAVE ME HERE!"

Floyde already knew what the people in cloaks did before he woke up. It was quite obvious; they had just massacred an entire town before appearing before him. A town would approximately have an average of 1,500 to 10,000 people.

'Does that mean it required them to massacre thousands of people to get what they want?'

Floyde's mind was still going in turmoil from the pain of slowly being burnt. His brain couldn't adapt to what was happening right now.

Floyde just hoped that the people who died were not over 1,000. He just prayed that maybe they massacred a small town.

Even if he thought to those conclusions, it was not like he was 'ok' with them killing the people. He still felt pity for the people who died while disgusted by the actions of what the people in cloaks did.

Floyde was still able to think what would be the consequences if someone were to commit an act of murder.

He didn't want to see innocent people die by their hands. But with his current condition, he could only stay still and experience pain.

But do you think they could really kill those people? Floyde was wondering. Though he was still doubting himself, he was figuring out if with only the 10 of them they were able to kill thousands of people, or if maybe they had more accomplices.
