Chapter 32: A Gift for You (1)

"It is already the second time you are coming here."

As Lucas opened his eyes, Lucas really heard the annoying chuckling voice. He got up from his lying position and looked at his surroundings, noticing that it was a familiar cloudy sky place which he came to three years ago.

"Was my injury that bad?" Lucas murmured, completely ignoring someone who was sitting near him. He just thought that he would just sleep a bit but it seemed that he really did get to some near death situation, judging by this place.

"Why are you ignoring me, dear!?" The chuckling voice was somehow turned into a worried tone immediately and the question went on for a few seconds.

It was only then Lucas decided to answer the annoying god.

"Because you didn't help me." Lucas pouted, thinking that Lucian should at least bless him with some magic that could be used as an offense ability.

"I did boost up your healing magic, though... When you were healing the boy named Carl I guess?"

Lucas decided to not talk to him anymore. He knew he was childish but that didn't stop him from making childish behavior. But then he understood that it was not the time for that.

"Lucian, what is the orb that the demon was talking about? The experiment, too. Do you know what they were up to?"

The annoying chuckling voice became quiet again and Lucas found that it was quite awkward to not see that smiling face on Lucian anymore.

"I think I have a gist of it......."

"What is it?"

"I am sorry but I can't tell...."

Lucas seriously thought if he could hit Lucian or not as he glared at him. 'You can't tell!? What do you mean by you can't tell!?'

"You know, I have my restrictions, too. I don't have that much of an authority to interfere." Lucian sighed, while gazing at the horizon.

"But you did teleport two people from world to world, though?" Lucas didn't really understand. "And who restricts you? Aren't you a god?"

As Lucas had expected, Lucian didn't answer his question. And so Lucas had decided to ignore him, too. 'Ahhh... When will I be waking up!?' He just started to count the seconds, making the atmosphere around the two become quiet.

"Ah, I think the time is up." Lucian sighed a bit before that soft smile returned to him again. "I hope that you won't come here again anytime soon."

They were the only words that Lucas could hear before he blacked out again, feeling the sensation of a free-fall.

Lucas felt that he was on something soft and comfy as soon as he regained his consciousness. He tried to open his eyes but unfortunately he couldn't, feeling too sleepy. It was like he was too lazy and too tired to wake up, just wanting to sleep more and the bed he was lying on was telling him to do so.

"It had been many hours but why is he not waking up!?"

"Please don't worry..... He is ok. It's just that he is sleeping because of tiredness."

"Carleton, lower your voice a bit."

'Yes....Seriously,... you are too loud, man.....' Lucas inwardly thought. He didn't like hearing loud voices at this moment because it was definitely destroying his sleep.

'Wait...many hours? What do you mean by many hours!?'

But then Lucas seriously thought about what had happened and he noticed that it was not the time to be sleeping luxuriously. And he tried his best to open his eyes, only to groan a bit when his eyes were not able to adapt to the sharp light outside.

"Young master! You are awake!"

"Lucas! Are you ok!?"

"Master Lucas! How are you feeling?"

"Lucas!? Do you still feel hurt!?"

Lucas felt like his head was going to explode by being asked many questions as he blinked his eyes a bit to adjust to the light and when he was finally able to see his surroundings properly, many worried faces welcomed him, looking closely at his every action.

"Can you please lower your voice a bit? My head hurts...." Lucas sincerely wished that as he looked here and there and only to sigh when he found out that they were not in the mansion. It meant that he didn't have to deal with a haywire situation with his family. Well, that was if they didn't inform his family, of course.

Everyone in the room immediately shut up, hearing Lucas's plea and all of their eyes got on a certain middle-aged man in the room. It was a face that Lucas didn't know.

"Well, Young master, let me check you up a bit." The man in the robe stated as he held the small hand of Lucas. Feeling a kind of warm mana spreading through his body, Lucas instantly realized that this man was a healer.

"All is fine! Your mana flow is stable and your internal injuries are all fixed up now. How do you feel?" The man gently smiled at Lucas as he put his hand down again.

"Thank you.... Umm...." Lucas really didn't know who the man was but judging from how the people in the room were trusting him, Lucas knew that he must be a healer that was called by them.

"I am called Walter, young master. You can call me Walt in short." Walt answered, realizing Lucas's curiosity. "I am Brook's friend."

"Oh I see. Thank you for taking care of me." Lucas politely thanked as Walt said his goodbyes and left the room.

"I am going to send him off." Brook also notified, leaving the room together with Walt.

Click!

The door closed and the room was awkwardly quiet again, with the rest of the people shutting their mouths and just gazing at Lucas. And Lucas knew why it was like that.

"You can talk.... Just don't bury me with loud noises....." As soon as Lucas told them, their faces started to lit up again like the children who just got permission from their mother to do something. Lucas couldn't help but to make a deep sigh.

"Are you ok? Do you have any places that feel hurt?"

It was Ryosuke who started asking the question.

"I am perfectly fine."

"You even vomited blood! Is it not serious!?" Eura followed and covered her mouth when she realized that she was raising her voice. Lucas said that it hurted when there was loud noise, right?

"Look at me, do I look like someone who is going to die?" Lucas chuckled a bit as he looked at the worried expressions of the people around him. "I am really fine, Eura."

"Master Lucas, you should care better about yourself."

'I care, though?'

"I will, Tus. Sorry to make you all worry. It's really ok, now." Lucas ensured them again and again. "And where are we now?" Lucas looked at the room he was in and he was sure that it was not his room in this capital for lacking exquisiteness.

"It is an inn in Ereck city. Carl said you didn't want to go back to the capital and yea, we also know you are going to get grounded if you go back and luckily, there is mister Walter who is the teacher's friend and as he checked, you situation was not that serious, so we just decided to stay in the inn for today."

"But we are going to head back to the capital if master isn't awake by tomorrow morning, though."

Ryosuke and Tus filled in the information and Lucas nodded, listening carefully. 'I should be glad that I am awake now....But why did I get to that place if my situation was not that serious?'

'Ah....my life...' Lucas didn't want to think anymore. Actually both in his past life and here, he was not a genius and he believed that he was not definitely good at strategizing. But he was a deadline fighter in his past life so maybe he was good at doing things on a whim.

Seeing how Lucas became quiet all of a sudden, everyone excused themselves, telling Lucas to rest more and sleep as much as he wanted and Lucas felt really thankful for that.

"Umm, Carl....?"

"Yes, young master Lucas. Do you need anything?"

Everyone left the room and Carl was the only one who was the last one to leave. As he looked surprisingly silent and dull despite his happy-go-lucky personality, Lucas was kind of worried for him.

"Are you ok?"

"Of course, my injuries were fully recovered. All thanks to you, young master."

Lucas could see that Carl was forcing a smile which was very awkward. 'Is he feeling guilty?' Knowing Carl, Lucas had no doubt that it was possible.

"I am really sorry, Young Master..." Even before Lucas stated anything, Carl started the conversation. "Because I am so weak, you have to suffer...."

"You are not! It's just that you are outnumbered. Think from another perspective!" Lucas wanted to scream that Carl needed to use his optimism at times like this. "And thank you for listening to my request." He added with a smile. "It must be hard to persuade teacher Brook, right?"

"You are always welcome, Young master. You should take a rest now. I have already informed that mansion that we are just relaxing around the town."

"Great!"

Lucas looked at the closed door where Carl left after saying good night. And Lucas immediately lay down on the comfy bed, as he closed his eyes trying to sleep. But he couldn't.

There were many things that Lucas didn't understand. One after one, things that he didn't have the knowledge of popped up out of nowhere, including the orb thing, too. Lucas couldn't remember such a thing in the novel and he believed that he would remember it if it was something major.

'Was the record wrong? Or is it just something unimportant? They also said that the orb is not working....?'

Many possibilities now run around in Lucas's mind. At first he simply thought preventing Ryosuke from falling into despair by protecting his friends and lover would be his only duty and Lucas believed that he could do it since he was given the healing magic, and it was also with a huge mana. He thought it was going to be fulfilled as long as he stuck to the protagonist.

The events of the novels started only after Ryosuke finished his academy and founded his party on his own. It was the true start. But now he kind of started to doubt the reality. What if the novel flow is deviated and worse situations come? What if he wasn't able to protect anyone?

Lucas also considered that he might just be overthinking because it was also possible that he found more facts about this world as he was not a reader who just read from Ryosuke's perspective but involving himself in the world's cases.

'I don't like complicated things....' Lucas cried inwardly. 'Please demon lord.... Why do you want to fight humans?' He felt that it would be great if they could just solve it with a peace treaty although he knew it was impossible.

Knock Knock.

Lucas almost jumped out of bed when he heard someone knocking at his window. Looking carefully at glass, he could see that the person knocking the window lowered down the hood she was wearing and held up both of her hands, showing that she was harmless.

And Lucas instantly recognized her, and his eyes widened in surprise at the same time.

For which she was the elf lady that he saved in the Oiria tunnel.
