Clarissa strained her eyes as she looked into the shadowed stairs where the voice had come from. She had momentarily forgotten about the state of her dress, her anger and the maid on the floor. She was fascinated by the new entrance and she found that to be quite odd.

Nowadays, it seemed she found many things to be odd.

The man who had spoken from the shadows took sharp slow steps out into the light, steps that sounded louder than they actually were.

Clarissa found herself watching his eyes which changed from red as he stepped out of the shadows to a purplish-blue colour lined with red. It was unique, nothing like she had ever seen before.

Her eyes strayed to his face and she couldn't put her hands on it but he seemed familiar which was crazy because she had never seen him before.
