Chapter 11: Base and survivors (III)
'Wait! If I thought like this, why wouldn't they?' Davis turned his face toward the duo with a smile that wasn't a smile, " Chief Vector, Miss Natalia just tell me that what's wrong with this tunnel already, no need to hide things, I won't be angry don't worry''.
Even though he said he wouldn't be angry, the vein that was threatening to explode in his forehead made the two feel a shiver run through their whole body.
Deputy Chief laughed nervously as he said "What are you talking about Young man, it's not like I tricked you or something", Vector walked closer to the gate and knocked on it, "You see this gate, it was made of pure titanium, and now after the blackout, we couldn't open it anymore since electricity is no more working".
With a helpless sight, Deputy Chief walked to David and patted his shoulder " I hope that with your strength, you will be able to open this gate and if you could do this, it will be counted as huge merit since we will be able to have access to the weapons inside the underground base and also we'll be able to reunite with our friends in the military base, more helpful people means a higher chance to survive".
"And if I could not open it? Tsh, you just tricked me, Chief Vector," David pushed Vector's hand away and walked to the gate " Your father is not as trustworthy as you said, Miss Natalia".
'It seems that the gate opens and closes horizontally, the surface is smooth, I heard that titanium is one of the toughest metals on earth' Davis thought while he checked the gate.
"Well, you have agreed to his deal, and you told him to bring you to the gate and nothing else, and that what he did", Natalia said while she gave Davis a curious look.
'Is he able to do something?' Natalia thought while observing every movement Davis made.
It should be known that she and some of the most powerful policemen tried their best to open the gate using all that they got but to no avail.
Even though they all have new superhuman powers, the gate won't even have a scratch after being attacked for almost two hours.
Davis retrieved a big red axe from his inventory, this was an F-grade weapon, he swung it with half his power making a loud sound, but after checking the gate there was nothing, even using all his strength did nothing to the gate.
" Where did you get that axe? it looked like it came out of the air just like that" Natalia the curious woman asked Davis.
"Tsh, you ask too much woman" Davis frowns after he answered her, it seems his personality was undertaking a lot of changes, noticing that she was feeling down, he quickly added "Ah, sorry Miss Natalia, this Apocalypse is getting on my nerves, I'm a bit emotional since my relatives are lonely facing this dangerous situation"
" Don't worry, I'm used to that since my father acts like that all the time," Natalia said, using the opportunity to blame her father.
"Ahh, it has been hard on you honey, please forgive this old man nagging from now on" Deputy Chief Vector patted his daughter's back while giving a sharp look at Davis.
"Hehe, Chief Vector, it seems like you're a bad Father" Davis felt good after seeing Vector get blamed on his place.
"Hmph, if you can't open this gate then let's go back, I don't have all the time for you," Vector said while twitching his face.
"First, let me answer Miss Natalia, due to my high level I have unlocked something called inventory, this option from the System gives space to store whatever you want, except for a living being," Davis smiled at Natalia before he turned his gaze towards Vector and continued " and about me not being able to open this door", he smiled and a dark grey aura started to leak out of his body, his presence gave out a thick killing intent, his aura sky rocked while the atmosphere in the surrounding became suffocating, while Natalia was able to stand her ground, Vector stepped back shaking and sweating profusely.
"You don't mind me destroying this gate, right?"Davis covered the axe with his Anti-Energy and talked with his devilish smile and presence, Vector just nodded his head like an idiot as an answer.
Noticing that Natalia wasn't too much affected, he regarded her more highly, being a woman in this Apocalypse wasn't very helpful, being weak and sensitive would make them taken advantage of.
'Such a wonderful woman, she would absolutely shine in this world that would be ruled by individual strength' Davis admired her, but when he glanced at her father, he just shook his head helplessly, the man needed more refining to adapt.
Davis turned, and held his axe tightly, he breathed deeply before he swung the axe with all his power.
"Suu"
A cutting sound was heard, like when a hot knife cut through butter, but he didn't stop as he swung again vertically making another deep cut.
After that, quiet dominated the underground level, just when the Deputy Chief was about to talk, a loud sound was as a triangular part of the gate crashed on the ground.
David restraint his aura and Anti-Energy, then he turned and walked toward the duo, he patted Natalia lightly on her shoulder " good job Miss Natalia, to be able to withstand my pressure, unlike this old man here, hehe"
Deputy Chief Vector had regained his manners and passed Davis, he reached the gate and checked the newly made triangular hole "Hmph, good job young man, you are not just a talker it seems".
"Okay, tell me guys what I have to do to reach the military on the other side, is there a map or something?" Davis said in a hurried voice.
"Slow down young man, I need you to help me with something, do you remember the favor I asked you?" Chief Vector walked to his daughter with a friendly smile "I need you to help some of our men to reach the military base safely, and they will lead you in the underground base to reach the other side of the city ".
"How many people are you gonna send?"
"Natalia and 5 others, they are powerful and won't hinder you, you just need to lead them safely to the end of the tunnel".
Davis thought about it for a while, having a guide wasn't a bad idea and even if he found some survivor soldiers, he won't need to explain himself, since normal citizens aren't allowed to be in a military base.
"Alright, please bring those five here as fast as you can, I'm in a hurry," Davis said as he stored the axe in his inventory.
"Okay, I need 20 minutes to gather them, please be patient and wait," Deputy Chief Vector said as he dashed to the stairs leading above, leaving Davis and Natalia alone.
The silence went for a while before it was broken by Natalia's voice, "what were doing before all this started?"
"Hmm, if you were asking about what I was doing as a job then I'm gonna disappoint you because I was just a university student with a half time job," Davis said, even if the environment was a bit dark, he didn't let go of the chance to gaze at the beautiful woman standing not far from him.
Natalia was surprised a bit but not very much since many people were just normal citizens, but after the Apocalypse started they are now killing Zombies all day without batting an eye for their survival. So Davis's case was normal, he was just more powerful than most people.
"When did you get that scar on the right side of your neck? it even reached above your chin" Natalia was interested in the young man in front of her, he always gave a mysterious feeling, like he was hiding some big secrets, she couldn't help but ask him more questions since her father was away.
"Ah this, well I got it when I was fighting a beast" Davis remembered that he got this wound when he was fighting the level 2 beast fox, it was the same beast that started the Apocalypse after being killed by him, it seems that the wound was healed before he got the parasite bloodline, or else there would no scar after being healed by the passive skill of the bloodline.
They kept talking waiting for the others to come, Davis was feeling uneasy as he kept thinking about Elina, he wanted nothing more than to reunite with her.
The 20 minutes passed quickly, Davis was about to complain about the other being late, but he stopped as he heard footsteps coming from the stairs.
Deputy Chief Vector was leading five men, one of them was walking by his side, David could feel that this man was on the same level as Natalia, while the others were a bit weaker.
When they reached the duo, the one that was walking next to Deputy Chief Vector frowned and glared at Davis when he saw him talk amicably with Natalia.
Davis didn't miss this small detail, he just ignored him but if the man wanted to bully he will teach him a lesson, being an officer or soldier doesn't have authority and prestige like the old days, now the strongest fist rule while the weak should bow his head.
When the six people reached them, Deputy Chief Vector initiated the conversation by introducing Davis to his men and told them that they will guide him to the other side of the tunnel while Davis will make sure to bring them safe if they face any obstacles.
When they heard what their superior said, they couldn't help but seize the young man in front of them, he was giving a friendly and calm atmosphere and didn't look strong like they heard.
The one that was walking side by side with the Deputy Chief mocked with a loud voice "This kid will be responsible for our safety! Haha are you sure you didn't make a mistake, Deputy Chief? He looks like a high school student", of course, he just wanted to ridicule Davis, as any normal person would be able to discern that Davis was much older than just a high school student.
Davis looked at the man, he was two meters tall with huge muscles, he had a scar on his face that made him look scary, the scar twitched like a worm while he was laughing.
The other five had a different reaction, two laughed while the other three stood there with a pocket face.
Davis looked at the man like a clown and ignored him, but Natalia had a different opinion, she interfered with a cold voice " Officer Dalton, this young man here can wipe the ground with your face, so show some respect and close your mouth. We are here on an important mission, listen to orders and do your job".
Davis felt a bit of warmth inside seeing Natalia defending him, it's not like he couldn't defend himself, he just wanted to finish this as fast as possible and found his friends, arguing with this clown would just waste his precious time.
Dalton seeing the woman he had feelings for, Natalia, defending an unknown man made him almost explode with anger, but before he could continue, Deputy Chief Vector voice cut him "All right guys, Commander Natalia will be the leader of this team, Davis I hope that you would protect them during this mission"
He then came closer to Davis and whispered" and especially my daughter, make her safety a priority please, remember to watch your back as humans may be more dangerous than Zombies in certain cases", he patted his shoulder and raised his voice again for his last order.
"This mission goal is to clean the underground base from any danger, find and bring back weapons, survivors, and food, the two of you will be responsible for reporting after clearing the underground base so we can send more people to bring back the weapons and the food, while Commander Natalia, Davis and the rest will continue their way to the military base and report the overall situation of our base to them, make sure to make respect the superiors there since military-grade have more authority in situations like this. Good luck on your mission".

Sorry guys, i couldn't update a chapter yesterday since i have exams this Thursday, so i don't have a lot of time. i promise you that once this weak ends, I'll start updating 2 chapters a day.
