Chapter 15: ZALKANS AND XENONS
"Kya.!..."
Ignoring her scream, Kurt converts himself back into human form to get a good grip on her alien body to start MIND EXTRACTION.
[Starting MIND EXTRACTION..., performing simultaneous observation to find more information about the new species...]
[New observation complete.....
•Species are found to be unisexual (the male and female sexes are separate.)
MIND EXTRACTION is still in progress...
]
"Eh?.., So the one I'm grabbing is...."
[Female....]
"....."
Kurt looked at the lady he had grabbed. She was shivering and staring at him with wet eyes. Then he looked towards the body lying on the floor. It was looking, no it was glaring at him with clear killing intent...
"And that is.."
[Male....]
"....."
'I somehow sense that I have done something inappropriate, and should release her promptly. '
Kurt was about to release his grip over the lady, but before he could do that, the lady, suddenly pulled herself away from him. But Kurt's grip was strong and as a result, both of them fell down. Lady pinned on the ground and Kurt above her.
[DING!
MIND EXTRACTION complete...., sending extracted language to host's brain....., data transmission complete...]
Kurt was above the lady, whose blue color had now changed to somewhat pink. His hands on her left plum.
"Ge-Get off me, you-you pervert!" the lady spoke with a stuttering voice.
[DING!
New observation complete...
• Species changes color according to the emotional state they are in.]
'.....'
[....]
"Then the Pink color means..."
[Sexual excitement....]
"....."
"Oh! So-sorry..., I did not intend to do that," Kurt changed back to his human form while withdrawing his hands and standing up. The lady also backed off and went to the guy lying down on the ground, who was mutilated because of Kurt. She tried to pick him up, but could only make him sit upright.
Then suddenly, both the lady and Kurt looked at each other in surprise, as he had just talked to them in their language.
"You-you can speak our language? You can understand us?" the lady asked.
"Yeah!, I guess I can.....NOW.." Kurt answered.
"But aside from that, why'd you attack me?" Kurt asked in a heavy voice while coming closer to them. The lady was terrified. Kurt's chilling voice appalled her as the injured guy sitting on the ground tried to say something;
"I-I was just.... "
"I was just trying to get you away from here," the guy said as he tries to stand up.
The lady helped him to stand up, but was pushed away by him.
"R...Run!, take the kids away from here, I'll try to stop this guy." the male spoke to the lady. He takes a simple fighting stance with a sharp rock in his hands.
It surprised Kurt to see him stand up with a punctured abdomen. His stomach was oozing with luminous blue blood, maybe some broken bones too.
"Hey-hey!, I'm not going to harm you. I was just defending myself, you! Were the ones who attacked me first. So why am I the one being treated like a villain?" Kurt spoke.
"Eh?"
"You...you are not going to kill us? but then why'd you come here? ", the guy asked with wariness.
"I just came here for this(picks up the metal chunk), and then you attacked me from behind. " Kurt said.
"O-oh! That thing..., we thought it was dangerous, so we smashed it with rocks and threw it into that crack in the ground." the man said with an apologetic manner.
"Well, it's alright. Not that valuable. So what are you guys doing here? Are you the only ones that live here? " Kurt asked, not knowing what to say.
"We-we live here with our family. Bu-But how'd you survive that collision? We thought it happened at the center of the western kingdom and SHAPE-SHIFTERS like you should have been disintegrated by the impact." the guy asked.
"Collision? What kind of collision?" I asked. 'And what the heck is shape-shifter?, well maybe a new identity? Haha'
Both the lady and the man stayed silent for a while, but then said;
"You-you don't know about the collision that happened 4 years ago?" I slowly shook my head in denial of ever knowing about such a fact.
Both of them look at each other for a moment, then the guy nods to the lady. And the lady starts explaining what had happened four years ago.
"There were 2 vast continents on each opposite side of our planet. ZLAK kingdom occupied the eastern continent where our species lived. And on the western continent XENON kingdom where SHAPESHIFTERS like you resided. Shapeshifters were the individuals who were able to change their shape and form as they wanted. We only read and heard about them, but we never saw one in real life tho.
At that time there was a lot of vegetation and the planet was pulsating with life. There was not much communication between the two kingdoms. Both were in a neutral relationship with each other, as people were living in harmony and there was no shortage of food or resources.
But then 4 years ago, a big rock of the size of an entire continent came from above and fell on the XENON kingdom. The western kingdom was wiped off the planet in an instant. Large shockwaves, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions enveloped the whole planet and caused mass destruction. Our eastern continent was no exception to that, and it was submerged in water and at some places, lava flowed in the river beds. The heat from the Collision almost evaporated all the water available on the surface of the planet, and what is left now is not safe for consumption.
Ashes and black clouds covered the whole planet, and we lived in the dark for 3 years. When the sky cleared, the atmosphere was still filled with toxic gases and intense sunlight came in as another form of disaster. It was impossible to even take a step outside, sometimes even the rocks started to melt due to continuous exposure to sunlight.
Now the only source of food and water left is under the ground. This cave stood at the highest mountain at that time, so by chance, we were traveling and were saved because of the altitude of the cave.
We have been living here alone for 3 years. But we never expected to see a real SHAPE-SHIFTER in our life."
'So that's why the terrain seemed trashed. It was very jagged and twisted, like some kind of monster has wreaked havoc on the planet.
Well, it seems that the problem of discovering clean water is solved.'
[ The System has already mentioned the availability of several substances on the planet, which also includes the presence of pure water under the ground...]
"Ya, ya, like I'm going to read all that shit. You should tell me the important stuff first or highlight the valuable info in your one hundred thousand words of explanation so that I can at least find it after an hour or so.
[ Remark and suggestion received.....fixed changing priorities...]
'Alright then!, so what should I do now?'
" Umm..." The lady let out a questioning expression.
"Yes, what is it?", kurt asked.
" So..., how were you able to survive till now? We never saw anyone around here? "
"Ah! well…I was…",'Now what? I don't have any Idea, sigh such, hassle. Should I just kill them?'
