Chapter 13: Can I Freeze Time?
With the fear of something happening to him, Shawn was on edge as he entered the university, everything seemed fine, everything is normal, seeing this made Shawn feel a little weird, even if he had died in that accident, nothing would have changed.
The people would spend the day just like any other normal day, his death wouldn't have achieved anything in other people's lives, just thinking about this made him realize how insignificant a person's life is when they are dead.
When one is alive there are so many possibilities, so much to do in life, dreams, desire, and many more all these things are part of human life but at the end of the day, these things only matter to one person, when they die, these things die with him, as for other people they will continue on with their lives.
Shawn didn't know if life was priceless or meaningless, in the grand scheme of things just one life is so insignificant but to that one person who has this life, it's a priceless object, and how it depends on this person on how to utilize it.
Shawn thought about his own life and wondered if it's priceless to him as he didn't have a dream, an ambition, or a goal, he just wanted to live a carefree life with no troubles.
'Priceless or not, I don't want to die any time soon' he thought and walked into the university, he saw some familiar faces and talked with them, they were surprised to see him as they heard about the accident in the lab.
Shawn just brushed them off by saying that he didn't suffer any serious injury, Shawn didn't plan to talk for too long and went to attend his classes, the university is quite boring these days as all syllabus has been completed and everyone is just doing revisions.
Once classes were done, Shawn decided to give Natasha a visit, even though he knew he was not the reason behind the accident, he felt he was still involved in some way, he is grateful that she is not seriously injured either, her injury is just a minor hairline fracture that will cure itself in a few weeks.
He could at least give her a visit and hand over some of the revision material for her to go through before the big exam, she should be clear to take the exam so the revision material might be really helpful for her.
After finishing his very last class of the day, Shawn walked out of his class and entered the hallway but as soon as he did, he felt his leg come across someone else and was about to fall.
Shawn's eyes contracted as he prepared himself for the fall but something weird happened, he felt his whole body freeze on the spot but he could tell that he can move his body, he could feel it, he lifted his head and was shocked by what he saw, everything was frozen in time as well, he looked at the leg that bumped into his and looked at the person this leg belonged to.
He was not surprised by the person he saw, it was Jackson and he had a cheeky grin on his face as he was expecting Shawn to fall face-first on the ground, Shawn also noticed that some of his goons were ready to jump him as soon as he took his fall.
'Can I freeze time?' Shawn thought and carefully look around and he noticed something important, he saw things moving at a very slow pace, the movement of his fall, the wings of the fly that was slowly moving every millimeter per second, this was something Shawn never expected to experience.
He realized this was the same feeling he felt in his weird dream, time slowing down just for him but it was not just his eyes, he could tell that his whole body can move faster, he could feel every cell in his body charged up to the extreme, he felt that he could run through people with this much energy inside his body.
He decided to stop himself from his fall and quickly moved his legs and got a grip before standing straight up, as soon as he stood up his surrounding went back to how it was before, he could hear the sound of students talking, their shouts and laughter hit his ear instantly.
Shawn realized that he just moved at super speed and no one seems to have realized it, he then turned his head and looked at Jackson who has a frown on his face.
Shawn smirked and got right in front of Jackson's face without backing off, he was not scared of this bully at all, he has faced him before in the past and he is not afraid to do so again.
Jackson's face fell as Shawn got right in front of his face, even though he didn't want to, he had to look up because Shawn is taller than him, he hated the smile on Shawn's face.
"Is that all you can do, play little tricks like a girl?" Shawn mocked him.
"Get off my face!" Jackson said and pushed Shawn with his hands, Shawn got pushed back but he came up to his face again but this time he was more aggressive than before.
"What are you gonna do, push me like a girl again? Why don't you throw a punch like a man? all those muscles you built, are there just for show, or do they even work?" Shawn continued to provoke him.
"Don't fucking mess with me Shawn and stay away from my girl" Jackson growled again, Shawn could see that he was pushing the very limit of Jackson, even though he doesn't like causing too much trouble just seeing the current look on Jackson's face was worth it.
