Ok. My mother's dead and my father abandoned me at a young age

My mother died when I was a baby. The king's men came in asking for "blood sacrifices" because he's too cowardly to stand up for himself

A long time ago, the king was about to be killed when the Oni invaded our lands, and pleaded with them to not take his life, promising anything in return. We had never seen them before, so he was quite, willing. In exchange, the Oni requested that every few years, humans be sacrificed to them, for reasons that aren't disclosed to the public, at least not those who will some days be sacrificed.
So for decades, this had been going on, and no one lifted a finger to change it. At least until a noble hero was summoned from another world, beheaded the king, took the throne, and declared war against the Oni. But, because of the war, the Oni have just decided to raid human villages and take those sacrifices, and that's how my mother, "died".
My father was so furious, that he chased after them, declaring he'd come back with their heads, and was never heard from again.
[Damn, sounds like you've had it rough]
I guess. The towns' folk took pity on me, so they kind of raised me, I guess.
