Chapter 22: The New War
As Alex travelled from town to town,she had noticed an absence in the smaller unmapped villages. No guards,any and all potential assets had vacated,leaving the residents to their devices.
At the next village,she approached an armor shop,'Miss?' Alex signed to the keeper,who perked up-
"W-welcome to the Armor Den! How can I help you?" She asked warmly.
'Where are the Endish Troops..?'
"Gladya has summoned them for a war of some sort,a 'War of the End' as one soldier described it."
'Shit....Shes getting started sooner than expected...' Alex thought..
'I need a sword. As repairable and cheap as can manage.' Alex signs.
"Well,there's a workbench and some free material,have at it." The Shop owner said as she gestured to a crafting table surrounded with chests labelled "Free for Craft".
From the chests,Alex was able to piece together a stone sword and a few smaller throwing knives. As Alex prepped the leather bag for travel,the clerk approached Alex,"Miss,Is it true that there is a...male...running around again?" She asked.
Alex looked to the Clerk with a slightly concerned expression,'Why do you ask?'
"I want to give him something,if you happen to find him one day." She said,heading into the back room,and coming back with a journal,"It's a book of our World's history.."
She extends the journal,"It's been with my family for a long time,and weve come to see that it may have passed through everyone else's hands too. The male will need it."
Alex takes it,and packs it away,'Saves us an explaination. I must go,I have a long journey ahead.'
"Well alright..Be safe! Come again!"
Alex stepped back out
Without the occasional chatter of passing Endish patrols,it really was a beautiful walk toward The Edge. Alex looks at the locator map after a good portion of travel,to find she has finally arrived near where Grayson should be..
However nightfall has taken over,even with Gladya's troops recalled,the night was no friend to Miners.
Alex set up camp to get some rest...
