It feels so good to come back where you belong after so many good damn years. Is it just me or the setting Sun really looks like million colours of hazel ,golden and red today. My favourite season of winter is here. I love everything about winters…the coziness of chilling inside a blanket or sitting near the fireplace with a coffee and book in hand is the best way of removing solitude and this year it's even more special. Because this year even without a blanket someone is gonna be beside me who will warm me just by his comforting and loving words. While reading a book someone is gonna tickle me on my neck (yes, it's my tickling spot) ,ruffle my hair, care for what I want to eat…do everything I ask him to within fraction of seconds but won't let me read.
Dear god, how he hates when I am paying more attention to the book instead of him. Did I mention I am getting married in month to my boyfriend. Believe it or not for an Indian girl , it is an unspoken achievement if she gets married to that one person she loves without eloping and with hearty agreement of her parents. I suddenly looked at the time and saw it's half past 4, I am late!! I grabbed my car keys, " Mom! I am leaving and be back by nine". I and him both work at Bangalore, city in Karnataka state of India for the past two years. We begun our UG , completed our masters and decided to settle our lives their.
I got back here yesterday and mom asked me that we need to start distributing wedding invitations. After much consoling she excused me one day for me to go to my best friends and explain everything to them. I am in a relationship for more than seven years and my best friends at hometown are not informed about it. I am gonna tell them everything today. I can already visualise how will they react at first about not telling them for so long even though we were talking over conference call every Sunday, it was much like a ritual. They are very special to me but there were reasons I didn't tell them. (A/N : very silly reasons, you will get to know in the upcoming chapters). I called them over to our common meeting place that we had all those years ago, for a reunion.
Of course I am happy and excited to see the two adorable dumb heads of mine after so long but equally nervous. I know they will want me to start from the beginning and won't like me to miss even a minute detail. I can bet all my money at gambling once (which I totally loathe) before promising that I won't cry while dictating my story. We, especially he, had to go through a lot for us. I didn't realise for how long I have been thinking that I didn't keep track that I already reached my destination so I made a sudden halt on break and made a skid. It almost made an accident with a street dog. (Wow, what a start!! Note the sarcasm). I got out of my car and saw my friends sitting on our regular bench of the park ( yes, the three of us are 26 years old and instead of all the other location we chose the park for our reunion).
Ruby welcomed me with a cheerful wave from a far distance, excitement written all over her face. She was wearing crimson red full sleeved top with skinny jeans, also a flat shoes that matched perfectly her light brown shoulder lengthen hair. I returned her wave and mentally rolled my eyes thinking about her love for jeans. Whereas my other best friend Veronica who was wearing a bright yellow jumper with black leggings and sport shoes gave me short wave and then averted her eyes to her phone and honestly that was pretty strange of her. Going close to them, we had a tight group hug, a little bit of meet and greet and chit chat.
RUBY : We missed you so damn much. We were in touch, it's just been eight years but still feels like an eternity.
I : You are right, but to me it still feels only yesterday when three of us were playing with mud around 20 years ago, I …(Veronica cuts our nostalgic conversation)
VERONICA : I think you should check your dm on social media….
I took out my phone and checked what she sent me. It was me halting the breaks while the dog came out of nowhere but in the video the dog suddenly turned into hulk!! And I could link what was she doing with phone when I was entering the park.
All three of us burst out laughing seeing the video. Veronica has always been the mood changer of our group.
I : Thank you Veronica, you just saved me some extra tears rolling down my cheek. Because what I am about to say is already gonna give me swollen eyes by the time we go back to our home.
RUBY & VERONICA : WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU !!
Both of them have been really caring and protective for me because I was always the sensitive one in our group.
RUBY : Care to tell your thought out loud madame!
I : Promise me you two won't freak out when I say it…(They both nod so I continued)
I am getting married!! ( I said happily and raised my hand to show them my engagement ring).
I was half expecting them to scream but they didn't. Their jaw almost touched the ground out of shock. The smile on my face was different and they guess it that I have been proposed and it's a full fledged love marriage for which I have been drooling since my pre teen era.
Their were only three of us in the park. Both my friends are still trying to retrieve from the news. There was only silence around us and I could not bare it. I couldn't read their face whether they are happy or disappointed.
I : So…
I couldn't complete the sentence because the next thing I know that I am suffocating to breathe because of my friends' tight hug. One near each ear were out of happiness screaming out so loud that it deafened me for a while. Then they asked the most difficult question to me….
