Chapter 1: Freedom!

It was difficult to describe the current situation on earth. In the year 2100 two big news destabilized the general situation of the world... the first news was the existence of other conscious races, beings similar to elves, orcs or fantasy monsters proved to be real and even more frightening than they were in most of the stories. The second big news was the existence of parallel universes, this was news that almost drove the great world powers crazy with the thought of expanding their domains beyond other dimensions.

However, these dreams did not last long. The hitherto fanciful beings that resided in these dimensions were by no means friendly to humans, in fact, only a few months after humans discovered space cracks that led to these dimensions, they were surprised by armies of other races that opened huge holes in these dimensions and invaded the world catching humanity unawares.

500 years later, humanity had not disappeared. But that idea of being at the top of the food chain and being the most powerful race on the planet had long since been forgotten. No human dared even claim to be superior to other races or it could cost them their own lives.

After the invasion these races established territories on earth and for their own reasons allowed the surviving humans to live in the lower parts of these territories, acting somewhat like slaves. Forget fanciful stories of heroes and warriors battling monsters and saving the world, at least for now, this didn't seem like a story where humanity would prevail.

"FREEDOM! FREEDOM!"

Inside his room Nicolas remained lying on his plush mattress bed. Despite that, his muscles remained tense as he heard Protestant war cries outside his home.

"Why do they still try?" Nicolas asked himself.

Even in the worst case scenario, there were still those who resisted oppression and violence from other races. However, the difference in power was not something that could be overcome only with words, the beings of other races did not depend on humans, they had their own peoples, habits, culture and ideals. To them those humans were just a bunch of sick sheep who were now no longer serving their purposes.

It didn't take long for the inevitable to happen. Suddenly the sound of flesh being torn was mixed with the screams of pain of those humans, the crowd that a moment ago seemed strong and decisive now suffered being overwhelmed by a greater power and that no matter how much they fought they would never overcome.

2 hours later, Nicolas still had not recovered from the shock. He would avoid looking out the window for a few hours, fearing the bloody scene that had settled there. Instead he sat and looked at his backpack resting over an old chair, with conflicting thoughts in his mind he felt that in that backpack resided the worst mistake he had ever made in his entire life.

After sighing, Nicolas got up, grabbed his backpack, and from inside it pulled out a regal-looking book. That language, although very strange, was not very complicated for Nicolas.

After mankind was somehow kidnapped by these races. Humans had to live their lives according to the customs and tastes of other races, with that many changes happened in the society being the language one of the first things to change. Each race had a different language, but as their bipedal physical constitutions were quite similar and their vocal cords were not very different, some sounds, letters and words turned out to be very similar even to the languages of the land.

In addition to the language, cuisine, music, movies and even games have changed. Everyone had internet in their homes, but what they could search for was filtered by an intelligence system created by the other races. Despite being far superior in numbers, strength and technology they would still like to guard against a massive human rebellion.

Holding the book in his hand Nicolas felt a little nervous. That was a book used by other races to awaken a fusion core and thereby acquire a natural ability that defied the laws of physics, and that was one of the main factors in the defeat of humans.

Humans were not very knowledgeable about fusion nuclei. Every human had a vague idea of the fusion nuclei and Nicolas was no different, in fact all he knew was that these nuclei made other races unique and that humans could not obtain them by any means.

Nicolas had never shared his thoughts with anyone, but it was at least curious that of all the hundreds of races discovered so far, the human race was the only one with this deficiency. Nicolas always thought that humans did have the ability to obtain fusion nuclei, but the other races would not be foolish enough to leave that within the reach of a race that they oppressed and killed for more than 500 years.

Nicolas looked at the book. If he could have a fusion core, this book would be the key, but if he wasn't careful enough he could be crushed to death by beings of other races who trained for dozens of years honing their skills, it would be like a newborn fighting a giant.

Despite that, just the fact that Nicolas was in possession of that book was already a federal crime. If some soldiers found out about it, Nicolas would most likely be hanged. Thinking about it he decided to go ahead, he doesn't know if it was a coincidence that he found this book in a random trash, but since there was no turning back Nicolas decided to give it a try.

When opening the book Nicolas was almost immediately immersed in its content, it was like discovering a whole world of varieties and new things. On his pages were recorded positions, breathing techniques, and some basic attacks that could help him awaken a fusion core.

Then, rereading the book at least 5 times, Nicolas gathered the courage to test the content he had read. He was not very confident in his success, after all if there really was a possibility for humanity to achieve such power, there would probably already be in this world at least a few hundred humans capable of rivaling other races. If these humans did exist, they were either killed very quickly or are very well hidden.

As Nicolas sat on the floor, he followed every instruction in the book, always remembering not to forget anything. As he took the last steps, his whole body shook with a huge shock just before his whole body weakened and Nicolas lost consciousness.

In the back of his mind, a monotonous voice appeared next to strange text boxes.
