"Hey how did it go?" Dr Hobbs asked
She sighed tiredly "it went well, thanks. I don't mind you checking out the results of the CT scan I did with me tomorrow. I mean if that's fine with you"
Hobbs smiled "Anything for you" of course he would do anything just to impress her. Anything to win her over
"Thank you. That means a lot" she replied "see you tomorrow "
"Uhh... Ruby?" He called
"Yeah?"
"What about that coffee we missed? You owe me remember?"
She chuckled "yeah I know. But can it wait till tomorrow please? I'm dead tired right now "
He really felt hurt... but why doesn't she even dig him at all?. He thought
Ruby saw the look of sadness in his eyes due to her rejection..... why does he do this all the time she turns him down. It makes her feel like a bad person.
Rolling her eyes internally, she changed her mind "Alright fine, let's go for a drink and maybe I'll grab a takeaway home"
His face immediately lit up with enthusiasm "Sure. I'll just grab my stuff so we can head out"
Ruby was taken aback by the speed he took to his office. She shook her head and chuckled
She was about calling Tay to inform her she wouldn't be going home with her tonight, when....
"Hey bitch..youful." Tay and her bad mouth
It made Ruby laugh, because the elder matron scowled at Tay knowing what she meant.
"Sorry" the elder matron shook her head in disappointment
Ruby smiled "Good evening Mrs Davies. How was today?"
"Evening dear. You know the drill, stressful as always and Tay please be watchful of how you speak around here" she stated
"Sure Mrs Davies. Sorry about that. Ya know, can't help getting crazy with my baby girl" Tay said while resting on Ruby's shoulder
Ruby shook her head and shrugged Taylor's hands off her shoulder "I understand Mrs Davies. Please take care and kisses to baby Danny for me"
"Sure honey. Thanks for your concern. I better leave now, see you tomorrow "
Tay rolled her eyes "They all be making me feel like some devil's descendant while they be treating you like God's angel"
Ruby chuckled "Well what can I say. I'm good like that" while flipping her hair playfully at Tay
Tay rolled her eyes again "Whatever. Can we leave now? I'm starving, let's grab takeaway on our way home"
They both started walking out of the hospital
"Yeah about that. I owe Hobbs a drink, so I'm making up for it. I was gonna tell you I won't be going home with you tonight" Ruby said giving her friend a puppy look
"So Hobbs is still on your case? Woah he never gives up. Alright don't stay out late. Except there's something else apart from a drink that you owe him" Tay said while wiggling her brows at her friend
"You're impossible. Get your dirty and thrashy mind out of the gutter woman. I don't even like him that way. He wouldn't just get the hints sis" Ruby palmed her face in frustration
"Except he gets it, but doesn't just wanna give up. Come on babe, give him a chance"
Ruby looked at her friend like she lost her mind. I mean she knows who owns her heart and no one can replace him. Even though she's tried a couple of times, it just never worked.
It's like he imprinted everything about himself in that special organ of her body. She just can't seem to erase him.
Taylor rolled her eyes yet again "Yeah yeah, whatever. I know that look. Forget I said anything. I need to move"
"I hope your eyes don't get stuck with the number of times you roll em" Ruby smiled
Tay mimicked in her crazy squeaky voice "I yhope your yeys don't get shtck. Whatever bitch" quickly covering her mouth and looking around to see if Mrs Davies was anywhere around
Ruby laughed so hard and shook her head. "May the Lord save your soul" she looked at her wrist watch... What's taking him so long?
Tay noticed her friend looking disturbed "What's the problem? Hobbs boy is standing you up already?"
"I don't get it too. He said he'll be right back and it's been 30 minutes already. I don't got time for this" she sighed frustratedly
"Try and ring him then" Tay suggested
Ruby sighed "Hmmm, okay...." bringing out her phone to dial his line
Before she could, he ran out panting. "I'm so sorry Ruby. I got held up by one of the nurses. An issue needed urgent attention. Hope you haven't changed your mind"
Ruby gave a fake smile "Not at all. And were you able to sort out the issue?"
"Yeah I was" Hobbs kept staring and smiling at her with so much admiration
Ruby gave a fake smile again and looked away. She felt uncomfortable already and couldn't wait to get it over with.
Tay decided to lessen the awkward tension. He made her even feel invisible and she hated being unacknowledged
Tay interfered with a surprisingly chirpy voice. Making Ruby look at her friend in a weird way "Well hello there Dr Hobbs. We truly understand. I mean I know Ruby is cute and sexy. But you totally ignored me like I am one of the street lamps illuminating the street. That's unfair "
He gave a deep chuckle "Pardon my manners Miss Wilson. Couldn't just get my eyes off Ruby"
Tay chuckled "Sure, she's a sight to behold and I get..."
Ruby cut her off "Tay thanks. But you need to head home remember? It's late, please go rest. I'll meet you at home soon"
"Yeah she's right. Aii take care guys and no funny business okay?" She came over to hug me and whispered in my ears "Please be safe. May God be with you"
"Tay I'm not going to war. It's just a drink" it was Ruby's turn to roll her eyes
Hobbs chuckled
"Don't roll your eyes remember? It'll get stuck and please take care of her" Tay imitated her words
"Yeah whatever. Bye. Tay just go" Ruby said, already frustrated
Tay laughed and walked away.
"Your friend is dramatic Ruby" Hobbs stated while laughing
Ruby grinned "Tell me about it. Let's just go please"
"Sure. After you beautiful "
Ruby gave a small smile and started walking ahead... I hope it goes well. She thought
