Chapter 6: Bet

In a big room, sitting on a big bed we can see Kaguya talking to her maid.
"So did you discover anything interesting about him?" Kaguya asked her maid with interest.
"I couldn't find out anything different about him Kaguya-sama." Ai said with her usually stoic face, but inside she felt confused because she was lying to Kaguya, after all, she and Nicholas talked a lot so obviously she knew a few things about him, but she preferred to lie to Kaguya.
Not that Ai liked to lie to Kaguya, she just felt something different when she looked at Nicholas, for some reason since the first time she saw Nicholas's lonely back on the roof, she felt that he was somehow like her and it did she feels close of Nicholas.
"Well, he joined the student council so I should be able to gather some information about him." Kaguya spoke taking Ai out of her ramblings.
Ai was surprised by the information that Nicholas had entered the student council but did not let on her face.
"I will leave the Kaguya-sama room." Ai spoke bowing and leaving the room.
"Ok." Kaguya replied.
When she was out of the room, Ai thought to himself.
"I should ask Nicholas-san to go out with me."

Waking up and getting out of bed, I turn off the alarm and go to the bathroom to do what I have to do.
Finishing in the bathroom, I head down to the kitchen and find Alice once again placing breakfast on the table.
"Good morning Nick." Alice greets me with a smile.
"Good Morning." Said with a smile.
While we were drinking coffee, Alice and I talked about all sorts of things, we even finished drinking the coffee.
After we finished drinking coffee, I went up to my room to put on my uniform and glasses, this time I went on foot to school, after all I don't need to be in a hurry.
Arriving at school, went straight to the student council room, when I enter the student council room I saw Miyuki, Kaguya, and Chika.
"Good Morning." I said with a smile.
"Good morning Nicholas." Kaguya answered.
"Good morning Nicholas." Chika said happily.
"Good morning Nicholas-san." Miyuki spoke.
After exchanging a few more formalities, I sat down on the council sofa.
"So Nicholas, do you have the lenses?" Chika asked me expectantly.
"Yes, I did." I lied after all I don't need lenses, so I took off my glasses and this small action made the present members a little stunned, but they soon recovered.
"They're really cute." Kaguya spoke absently.
"Yea." Chika agreed with a nod.
"Thanks." I spoke with a smile on my face.
It was only now that Kaguya realized she spoke her thought out loud, so she blushed and tried to change the subject.
"Classes are about to start, we better go."
"OK." I said getting up and putting my glasses back on.
Kaguya sighed in his mind, as she managed to change the subject.
Kaguya and I left the council room without noticing Miyuki's expression that was even more uncomfortable than yesterday.
During the walk to the classroom, Kaguya and I did not talk, but the silence between us was a comfortable silence.
Entering the room I saw Ai surrounded by people.
"Good morning Ai." I spoke as I walked over to her ignoring the people around us.
"Good morning Nicholas-san." Ai reciprocates with the happy expression that she always had on.
"Can we talk during the break?" I asked Ai, I want to ask her out.
"Of course Nicholas-san." Ai replied, curious about what I want to talk about.
"So until break time." I spoke as I went to my chair.
After that the teacher came into the room and started the class.
After a few boring classes the break came and I went out with Ai to our usual place.
"Ai, do you consider me a friend?" I asked when we got to the roof.
"Of course Nicholas-san." Ai spoke looking confused.
"Why do you wear a mask to talk to me?" I asked going straight to the point.
"What do you mean, Nicholas-san?" Ai asked me, but inside she was wondering how he knew.
"It is because you are always smiling but your smile seems to be missing something, as if you are not happy, but pretending." I gave an excuse, after all, I can't say that I know this because I watched an anime where she is in, right?
Now, Ai was shocked, a person was able to see through her acting technique that she is so proud of, but seeing that he already knew, she decided to stop acting.
"Just because of my smile?" She spoke with a stoic face.
"I just suspected" I said seeing the change in his expression.
After a silence, she asked me.
"Are you going to stop being my friend?" Ai was surprised when she asked after all the question was automatic, but she didn't regret asking, she doesn't know why, but she started to see Nicholas as an important person in her life.
"Why would I do that?" I asked, finding her question stupid.
"People always hide something Ai, I am no different myself and the important thing is that you trusted me to show me that side of you." I spoke after thinking a little.
"Thanks." Ai spoke softly, sighing in his mind, as he wouldn't leave her alone after she let her true self show up.
"No need to thank, after all we are friends, right?" I spoke with a smile.
"So Nicholas what do you hide?" Ai asked, not even realizing that he was now talking non-formally to Nicholas.
"As you showed me your true side, I will also show mine." I said looking at her.
"First I have no parents, they died when I was a kid, I live alone and as for my glasses I don't need them I just like to wear them." I talked a little about myself.
"I'm sorry to remind you of their death." Ai apologized.
"It´s okay, it's been a while, but changing the subject would you like to see my eyes?" I asked, not taking my parents' issue seriously.
"Of course." Ai replied, seeing that I was not upset.
"All right, but you have to make me a promise." I spoke thinking that my plan to invite her on a date would be successful.
"What?" She asked suspiciously.
"If I take my glasses off and you are stunned, you are going out with me this weekend." I spoke my proposal.
"Date? All right." Ai spoke feeling happy inside, after all she already wanted to ask Nicholas for a date and it would be even better if he did.
Hearing her answer, I took off my glasses, showing my blue eyes that seemed to contain the infinite universe in them.
"It looks like you owe me a date." I said taking Ai out of her daze.
"How can you have such beautiful eyes?" She spoke without realizing it.
"Well, I was born with them." I said with a shrug.
"So what time will our date be." I spoke changing the subject.
"It could be 9:00 am Saturday in front of the cafeteria XXX." Ai replied after she recovered her stoic face, but inside she was very excited.
"OK."
Ai and I talked more while we ate until it was time to go back to the classroom.
When classes were finally over, I said goodbye to Ai and accompanied Kaguya to the student council room.
"You and Hayasaka-san seem close." Kaguya commented as we walked towards the council room.
"Well, she was my first friend at school after all." I replied without thinking too much.
"I understand." Kaguya replied when we arrived and entered the council room.
After we entered the council room I sat on the couch and watched Kaguya and Miyuki doing their activities and talking, occasionally I talked a little and helped with some of their tasks, Chika also arrived after a while and we talked, and this continues until it was time to go home.
When I got home I came across Alice in the kitchen, greeted her and went to change clothes to help her make dinner.
After we finished having dinner, we ate and went to play a little bit, until bedtime.
