Chapter 3: Chapter 3: First Day Back After What Happened

The rest of that day was pretty fun, my brother left us alone, probably hearing me laugh so much for the first time in a long time. He always saw my fake emotions on top of hurt, he knew something’s happened and I’m to afraid to tell him. He wanted me happy for so long, and I was for now, I don’t know what school would bring. I hoped it would be fine, Trevor made a plan, were going to fake date to see if they back off, especially seeing how I nearly died, he wasn’t going to let them hurt me again. Every day until Friday was the same, we did classwork together, had fun, and prepared for our Fake Dating scam to get my bullies to back off once an for all.

I couldn’t hit bottom again, therapy was going good, I talked a lot more than I had to anyone in ages. She made me start from the beginning and tell the whole horror story, I cried a lot and felt better. I had been also talking with Trevor about the bullying which led us to our plan of Fake Dating. I even opened up to my family told them everything that was going on and told them Trevor and I’s plan. They thought the plan was good, my mom told me to wear my nicer school clothes too.

I took a shower, got ready for bed, and went back to my room, Trevor was spending the night, he had been since I got back from the hospital, my parent’s didn’t mind, they love Trevor. I smiled at Trevor as I laid down,

“Goodnight Trevor,” I said.

He smiled at me and replied, “Goodnight hun.”

He had been calling me that a lot lately, it felt good, I was becoming the me before the bullying. I fell asleep a few minutes later, we had went for a jog early that morning, my therapist suggested it, it did help me think clearer, I was also writing in a journal, 1-6 times a day. Trevor would watch tv when I wrote, he never bugged me when I was in thought. He was way to nice, he showed me not all guys are bad, that some can be trusted. I definitely trusted him, he knew everything and didn’t judge me. He helped me, I haven’t had an urge to hurt myself since I last did. I was getting better slowly, but surely I would be okay as long as Landon, Tanner and Greyson backed off.

I woke up the next morning, Trevor was sleeping his arm around me, I smiled and thought to myself someone is really playing the fake dating well. I gently shook him after I carefully got up,

“Trev wake up, got to get ready for school.”

He woke up and looked at me smiling,

“Im awake,” he replies and gets up.

He grabs his stuff, goes to the bathroom to change, I go to my walk in closest and strip looking around to figure out what to wear. I finally spot a nice black long sleeve, a pair of jeans, and nice sneakers. I get dressed, then curl my hair, do my makeup, put all my classwork into my backpack, pull on Trevor’s navy blur hoodie he gave me, grab my phone and meet him downstairs in the kitchen.

He has two travel mugs with coffee ready to go, and two Apple’s. He hands me a coffee and a apple with a smile,

“Ready?” he asks.

I nod and smile, “Yes let’s go.”

We walk out of my house, to his car, we get in, he drives us to school. He parks and we get out, he walks to my side, takes my hand as I put my backpack over my shoulder. We walk into school together holding hands, walking past the bullies. They just glare, but say nothing, I was just missing for most of the week. They had no idea what happened, no-one but Trevor did, and the school counselor.

Trevor and I walked to my locker, then he walked me to class kissing me goodbye, our first kiss, even though we were fake dating, it felt so real. I smiled at him,

“Ill see you at lunch babe,” I said before walking into class.

He smiled at me, “Ill meet you before lunch, bye babe.”

With that he took off and went to his class, I sat near the front, far away from Tanner and Greyson. I didn’t need their shit today, I was finally happy in life, they needed to leave me be. I wasnt sure if they would, but I was going to stay clear of them. The teacher came in and class started, I stayed focused, before I knew it the bell was ringing, I grabbed my stuff and headed to my next class, I sat near the front again. My day was okay so far no harassment from the boys, as the second class ended, I headed to the counselors office, I walked in and told the lady at the desk I had an appointment with Ms. Sullivan. She told me to sit while she finished with the other student.

I sat down and waited for her to finish, Landon walked out of her office, he saw me, he whispered in my ear,

“Tell no-one you saw me in here.”

I nodded and he walked out of the office no more words, no harshness, he sounded ashamed to be in there. I got up as she called my name, I walked in and sat down across from her. She sat down, smiled at me and asked,

“How are you today Lucy?”

I looked at her and smiled, “Happy for once.”

She nodded, “No dark thoughts?”

I shook my head, “No, I think they are finally gone.”

She smiled, “Good, no more harming yourself?” she asked

I shook my head again, “No.”

She smiled again and said, “Okay if you need to talk come straight here before you do anything you’ll regret.”

I nodded and smiled at her, “Don’t worry I will.”

She nodded as well, “Off to class, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

She handed me a note for class, I grabbed my stuff and headed to my class. As I got there I handed the teacher the note and went to an empty seat near the windows. It was history class, I quickly copied the board before he erased it. I could softly hear Landon talking to Greyson and Tanner. I try to focus on class,

“Lucy literally went missing and just shows back up with a boyfriend, Trevor something happened to her.”

I roll my eyes and sigh as I take more notes, it was the tone of Landons voice, it sounded concerned? No can’t be, before I knew it class was over. I grabbed my stuff and got stopped by the bullies, just great, I look at them.

“Can you please move,” I ask them.

Greyson spots scars on my arm and grabs it looking at them, “What happened?”

I look at him, “I fell in the shower cut my arm open,” I say it all so calmly.

Frankly that was none of their business, I nearly died, that was also none of their business. I just wanted to meet Trevor and my friends. Tanner looked at me as did Landon, then they just walked off, Greyson stayed behind for a moment staring at me.

“What?” I ask him.

He looks at me, “There’s no way you fell in the shower and got that, tell me what really happened Lucy..”

I looked back at him shocked and replied, “I really did fall, there’s nothing else to it Greyson, go please.”

He just looked at me his eyes had worry in them, what was up with my bullies, they were showing emotions I’d never seen from them. I walked out of the classroom, heading to lunch, Trevor was heading towards me as Greyson was behind me. Trevor grabbed my hand and pulled me close as we walked into the cafe. Trevor whispered in my ear softly,

“You look beautiful.”

I started to smile and looked at him, I could see Greyson watching us out of the corner of my eye, I kissed Trevor on the lips softly, he kissed back and we went to our table. He grabbed me a sandwich and juice.

I laughed with Trevor and my friends, Trevor kept an arm around my chair. We ate, once in awhile I’d catch of the bullies staring at us, but they were I mostly looking at me. I ignored it, they were probably going to end up torturing me again at some point. I enjoyed lunch with my friends and ‘boyfriend’ , after it was over Trevor and I walked to our next class. We sat together, we took our notes and finished, then headed to our next class, did the same and for the last class of the day, Drama we were paired up for a skit. We nailed it and by the time the bell rang for the end of the day, I had high hopes for the rest of the year. Trevor and I grabbed our things and headed to his car, I pulled on his hoodie as he held my backpack, we were walking by Landon and Greyson, they both just stared at me. They looked like they had something to say, but didn’t so we walked to his car, he unlocked it, opened the door for me and shut it once I was inside.

I placed my backpack on the floor near my feet as he got in the drivers side, I smiled at him as he asked,

“How was the first 3 classes?”

I looked at him, “Good, no issues from Tanner, Greyson or Landon today.”

That made him smile, “Good, I hope they stay backed off you.”

He drove us home, once there he got out and opened my door for me, I smiled thanked him and got out as I grabbed my bag. He walked with me to my door, I pulled my keys out and unlocked it walking in. Trevor walked in behind me, we went up to my room and started our homework. He sat on my bed, I sat at my desk, David peeked in on us while we were still working. My back was to him, so I didn’t see him, I kept working until I was done. When I finished, I got up and turned towards Trevor. He was almost finished.

When he did finish, David was cooking dinner, I helped him with Trevor helping as well.
