Chapter 18: Ch 17:Kanao
'I can hear screams from the recovering room...'
I brace myself for the noise as I open it to see Aoi scolding a yellow hair boy.
"Aoi what's going on?"I whisper as I look at him.
"This guy doesn't want to take his medicine..."She sighs in annoyance.
I glance at him before smelling the cup used.
"Doesn't smell that bad compared to other remedies I had drunk before due to Shinobu's experiments, "I mumble as I shudder, thinking back to when I got a stomach ache so bad that I couldn't move.
"You have two options here, either you drink this voluntarily or...We have to go the hard way."My sweet tone was laced with a terrifying aura.
"Hai..."He cried as he drank it down.
I can hear Shinobu sighing behind me.
"Gone for four years and when you come back, you're threatening people."
"Mm, I see you're still the right height for me to hug you like usual~"I tease her before seeing a tick mark on her forehead.
"I see you still haven't changed your personality."She snaps back.
We just argue like children in a friendly way before easing up.
"Other than that I am happy you came back."She smiles at me before checking on the other patients.
I hum in response as I went over to Tanjiro's bed.
"I hope you didn't get too injured?"I sat down at the end of his bed.
"It was painful but I would do it for Nezuko!"He beams at me.
'Too bright...'My eyes hurt at his smile.
"Thanks for stopping him from almost stabbing Nezuko."
I sigh as I got up, "Do rest well okay?"
I follow Shinobu out when she was done with her checkups.
"Where's Kanao? I haven't seen her for a longgg time!"I peek at some of the rooms as we walk past.
"Last I check she would be outside. Other than that we will be having a dinner party at the Love estate."
"Dinner party?"I tilt my head to the side.
"It's your welcome back dinner party.."
"Ohh! Okay, I will definitely go!" I pat her head before leaving to look for Kanao.
"Hah..still the same.."Shinobu's cheek reddens a bit as I left.

I had met Kanao when the siblings adopted her when I was 14 years old. I spot her with butterflies flying around her.
"Kanao-chan!"I wrap her into a hug.
"Haru-san.."She hugs me back.
"I see you been doing well."I release the hug to take a good look at her.
Black hair that's tied up into a side ponytail with beautiful purple eyes.
She's now 156 cm, age 16. She now wears a slightly purple-tinted version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, just with a knee-length pleated skirt in place of the usual hakama pants. Over this, she wears a short white cloak, fastened on one side by a dark pink triple knot, also sporting knee-high lace-up white boots with tan soles, heels and toes.
Tears gush out I finish analysing her changes.
"Haru-san?!"
"No no.. Don't mind me, it's just that it just took six years for you to grow up so pretty."I wipe a tear from the corner of my eye.
"Ah..so it was that..."
"Sorry I probably worried you huh?"I pat her head.
The height difference was clear as I stood at 168 cm now.
My hair tied up into a ponytail, swinging from side to side as I walk. I had my usual demon slayer outfit with my custom made haori. My trousers were rolled up for my dark brown boots that reach up half of my shin to fit.
I had to replace my fox mask with a new one as it broke during the four years mission. Now it had magma red as the base colour and lava-like colours as it flows down the side of it, it also had black near the closed eyes.
"How were you when I was gone? Did you miss me?"I smile as I wait for her answer.
"Hmm...No?"
I dramatically gasp, "Kanao-chan didn't miss me for four years.."
As if sadden by her words I tear up a bit.
"Are those real or are they crocodile tears?"She looks up and down at me.
I make a 'hphm' sound as I move my head away.
She giggles after a moment of silence and smiles at me.
"Yeah, I did miss you Haru-san."
I simply hum in response as she hugs me again. We spent the rest of the day messing about as night approaches.
