Chapter 42: Invitation
Tonight, Mel has decided to go back to her apartment as tomorrow she will be busy testing the game that Harry wants to launch soon.
She needed to test it using an advanced computer, while at Grandma's house, she could only use a laptop. She couldn't finish her work quickly. Luckily grandma understood.
She feels fresher after soaking herself in warm water. Now her eyelids felt heavy; occasionally, she began to yawn. She lay on her super soft bed to calm her mind and body.
"Boss, there's a missed call from the Golden house." Max notifies Mel.
Golden house? President Palace?
"Who called, Mr. President or his staff?"
"His staff."
"Ignore it."
She didn't expect anything in return from them. She helped the boy because of her helper's instinct. Even if the boy kidnapped is the child of an ordinary person, she would do the same.
"Yes, boss!"
She was grateful for her trip to the city K. In the past two days, she experienced many unexpected events and received so much important information.
The kidnapping of the President's son allowed her to meet her colleagues in XTeam. She misses them. It's been almost a month she was not involved in a mission with them.
She is only called upon if a serious mission requires her ability to use advanced technology. So, she rarely participates in field missions.
And what surprised her the most was her meeting with Aunt Bella. She becomes aware of her mother's secret that she never imagined.
That night, she spent the rest of the night thinking about the next steps she would take to avenge her mother. Soon, drowsiness overtook her, and she fell asleep peacefully.

Next Day.
In a large and beautiful workspace, Daniel Adams, President of country X, listened in silence to the report from his assistant.
"So, Ms. Mel Tan didn't pick up your phone?" He said as he lightly touched his golden frame glasses.
Rexi, the assistant of the President, nods slightly.
"She didn't call back your number either?" Daniel leaned back in his chair while crossing his arms across his chest. His eyes locked on Rexi; he was waiting for a response. But Rexi just stared blankly.
"So, what are you waiting for?"
"Mr. President?" Rexi asks as if he begged President to tell him what to do next.
"Visit her." He said quietly while his hand is waving, a gesture implying Rexi to leave him alone. Then Daniel continues reading the files on his desk.
Not long after ordering Rexi to leave his room, Daniel has stopped reading. He leaned back on his chair and whispered, "Ms. Melanie Tanner, you're quite an interesting little girl." He smiles meaningfully.

Mel woke up when the sun was high.
She lays on the bed motionless, her gaze looking at the clock beside the bed. "I slept too long!" She whispered.
She immediately took off her blanket, got out of bed, and limped towards the bathroom.
After taking a shower and eating lunch, she immediately went into her computer room. Today she determined to finish all her pending work.
She was going to test the game that Harry's team had created. Mel is only having little involvement in the development of the game. She believes in the talent of Harry and his staff.
Her job is only to test the game's beta version, check if the game has any glitches, and find any errors that Harry's team must fix before the launch. She wants the game to be flawless before the official launching date. MSoft Games' reputation will be at stake if they find problems in the game after launching.
At times like this, she never wanted to be disturbed. Mel asks Max to reject incoming calls and messages on her cellphone. She was so immersed in her work that she lost track of time.
Mel just rose from her command chair after she finished trying the newest game. She felt her body and fingers stiffen.
"Max, anyone looking for me?" she asked while standing with her arms stretched out; she could hear her stiff bones crackling.
Her gaze fell on the digital clock on the table. She was surprised; it was seven in the evening. She couldn't help but chuckle, realizing she'd worked non-stop for seven hours.
"a lot, Boss!"
She stopped stretching her body. Then, I walked towards the large glass window in the computer room, enjoy the city view at night. She drank a can of drink, which she had just taken from the cooler.
Mel was stunned to hear Max's report. "What? Harry called me more than ten times?" Mel chuckled. "Call him back."
The phone call connected on the first ring "Hello boss? Where have you been? How about the test results? Everything okay?"
"Relax! Everything is okay. There are only a few loopholes that I found. But, don't worry, it's not a difficult problem, I've fixed it. Where are you?"
"I'm still in the office, still in meeting with the team."
"Alright, I'll be there in thirty minutes." She said, then hung up the phone.
A few minutes later, Mel came out of her apartment wearing very thick clothes and a black backpack hanging on her back.
She deliberately wanted to walk to the office, which is not too far from her apartment; she needs exercise.
As she exited the main door, she's suddenly stopped. A tall man with glasses in a black suit stood right in front of her. It was like he was deliberately blocking her.
Mel stood still to see him. Although the man was deliberately blocking her, his aura didn't show that he had any malicious intent towards her. He looks like a typical manager in a company.
But why did he stop me? I never meet this man before.
"Ms. Mel Tan?" He asked in a friendly voice.
Huh? Does he even know my name?
Mel slowly touched her AI Sticker behind her earlobe; She heard Max say, "That is Mr. Rexi Nelson. He is the personal assistant to President Daniel Adams. He's 30 years old. He has waited for you since this afternoon." Mel was a little surprised to hear Max's report.
Instantly she felt guilty for ignoring his calls and made him come here. Willing to wait for her from day to night?
Luckily, she decided to meet Harry. Otherwise, this guy might be camped here until tomorrow morning. Mel is increasingly feeling sorry for him.
