Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Trouble along the way
A few days after leaving for Shizu Village, me and Azura have made small stops for rest.
This journey is far from small, it seems Azura was right when she said it'd be a good travel due to the distance.
Shizu Village is about a week or more of travelling away, varying on if we purely walked or if we had horses.
"The town of Ibal is close by, we could stop for decent food and rest." Said Azura as she stopped for a moment.
"Alright it'd probably be the best idea." I replied as I looked towards the distant town.
Upon entering the town, it seemed to have people of all races and even showed good hospitality towards travelers. Meaning nice places to stay, to eat, to gather information for maps and so on.
Much nicer than Nizu but that could change since the shitty lord they had is gone now. I didn't have intentions of stopping much since those weapons, gear, and skills need to be unlocked for me but it seems I'm still human.
Rest and food take priority still, but this wasn't a bad idea either way. I need to get as close as I can to these areas so I know the places to go and not to go.
I have to admit it's going to take a lot of time to kill the king since he's got heroes at his disposal and a lot of knights. I'm going to kill him either way, but there's still stuff I don't understand about this place.
Such as the heroes, the corrupted kings, corrupted lords, why bother summoning just me to deal with all that? That's quite a feat for one person alone, especially when most people aren't insane. I say that because to the people of this world it would be crazy to go after a king unless war is upon that kingdom.
Either way it's okay, even though I didn't want a travel companion I got one. Azura, I wonder if she knows anything about Yui since she's claimed to be some sort of evil witch.
Yet it's the opposite, thus why I need more information and I need to know why there's still a functional system.
Looking around this town I noticed the woman from before, the female knight from the inn back in Nizu. It seems news traveled faster than I expected.
"It's you again, Mika was it?" Asked the knight as she looked at my armor once more.
"Yes, it seems you're heading the same direction." I responded as I looked at the girl.
"The Lord Zelfin was killed so we were trying to figure out what we could." Said the woman as she looked around.
"That's great, good luck." I replied as I turned away and started walking.
"I know it was you." Said the woman as she pulled out her sword.
"You're quite annoying you know, but what is it you plan to do?" I asked as I stopped.
"Mika that woman is a high ranking knight captain, her names Ella Franzo." Said Azura as she looked up at Mika.
Ella Franzo? Doesn't mean very much to me to be honest but I'll humor her a bit longer.
"If I have to kill you I will." Said Ella as she began to approach.
It seems this will be fun, I wonder if this will work or not. It was always limited because of the time limit but it should be enough.
Pause.
"45 seconds before resuming." Said a voice.
I quickly walk over to Ella and grab her sword. Easy enough, taking away her sword and walking back to where I was I noticed Azura's eyes moving slightly. I wonder if she saw what I did there.
"20 seconds before resuming." announced the voice.
Resume.
"W-what happened to my sword?!?!" Questioned Ella as she looked at Mika.
"This sword? Rather easy to take it off you." I Answered while holding her sword.
"What the hell are you!" Shouted Ella as she stood in front of Mika.
"Mika." I said while looking at her.
It seems there are some things people aren't aware of yet, such as time magic. Though a rare magic due to it's complexity it's understandable.
I hand back her sword and of course she takes it still glaring at me like I was some sort of monster. I'm okay with this, I didn't see a need to kill her.
"I don't understand, at least tell me why you killed Zelfin." Said Ella as she holstered her sword.
"He was corrupted, evil if you wish." I Replied as I turned back around.
"I guess that's true, I wish it wasn't but I can't deny the facts." Responded Ella as she noticed everyone staring.
"If that's all this was I'll be on my way." I Said as I continued walking again.
Ella Franzo didn't seem to be dumb but she has yet to know of the true intentions of the king of Mito. We will show her over time what he really is.
She didn't say much else and we continued towards the center of the town, where everything seemed to be. The routes that are better for merchants to avoid monsters, bounties, quests, and so on.
This is normal for towns usually, but I can only wonder what the extent of my knowledge will be.
Gazing upon the information board I learned quite a bit of routes that would be better for getting to Shizu. That'll be the way to go it seems, but I wanna check around before we get going one last time.
I went towards a merchant who seemed to be selling special items.
"Hey lad whatcha looking to buy?" asked the man as he looked up from his stand.
"I don't know yet, though you do seem to have interesting wares." I Answered as I looked at the items.
The best thing I could buy here looks to be the necklace of regeneration for Azura.
"How much is that necklace?" I Asked as I pointed towards it.
"Two gold coins." Answered the man.
Let me check it's full stats before getting ripped off here.
Necklace of Zuro Stats:
When user takes minor damage the effects activate.
•Healing of minor wounds: 20 seconds
•Healing of Major Wounds: 25 seconds
•Healing of Fatal Wounds: 35 seconds
5 second recharge for each.
It's worth it for Azura but for me it wouldn't help much when I got all my skills and such back.
"I'll take it." Said Mika as he dropped two gold coins from his pouch on the stand.
"Alright here you go lad, thanks for the business." Replied the man as he handed Mika the necklace.
I took the necklace and turned around looking at Azura now.
"Here you go, wear this just in case." I said while handing Azura the necklace.
"Thank you Mika you didn't have to give me this." Replied Azura while accepting the necklace.
"Can't have you dying on me now can I." I Said before starting to walk.
Azura seemed grateful and honestly for now I don't mind her being part of my travels l. I'm just terrible at talking with people.
After she put on her necklace we continued on our travels throughout the town until we finally reached the inn. Lady Ann's Inn.
Upon opening the door the place resembled a more bread and breakfast look instead of a tavern and inn. Much like my old world it seems places like this do exist.
"Hello and welcome to my inn." Said the lady.
"So you're Lady Ann then?" I Asked as I looked at the woman.
"Of course, I take it you need a room for two?" Responded Lady Ann with a question back.
"Sure that'll do." I Replied.
"Alright that'll be five copper coins and 1 silver coin." Said Lady Ann.
This cheap for a room?
"Here, just tell me where to go." I Said while tossing her a gold coin.
"Oh my Lord, thank you so much. The first room upstairs on the right." Replied Lady Ann while holding the coin.
It seems a lot of these places around here are cheaper, but I can imagine the closer you get to the Kingdoms, the higher the coin.
After that we both went up to the room and went inside, it seemed to be two beds separated. I'm glad she didn't assume us to be together or something.
I sat down on the bed and looked out the window, this world has its moments where it can be quite peaceful.
Then I'm sure it's bound to have it's war driven moments too.
Without realizing it I had passed out on the bed and woken up in the middle of the night.
I turned around and noticed Azura was asleep in the other bed but how did I fall asleep so fast. I knew I was tired but not to that extent.
Quickly checking everything I had on me, nothing was missing so I just fell asleep then? Strange.
Suddenly a knock came on my door.
Knock! Knock!
I walked over to the door and used my skill once more.
Sight!
Beyond the door was actually the female knight from before, Ella Franzo. Now what might she be doing here at this hour.
I opened the door and noticed she seemed like she was scared. She also had blood on her armor.
"Is everything alright Ella?" I Asked while looking at her.
"No they killed all my men and I barely escaped with my life." Answered Ella in a scared tone.
"Why'd you come to me?" I Asked.
"You're strong and I just needed someone who could protect me for the time being if that would be possible." Answered Ella.
I grabbed her arm and pulled her inside the room.
"Get some rest I'll keep watch, we'll talk in the morning." I said while closing the door.
"O-Okay, thank you Mika." replied Ella as she sat on the bed.
This just keeps getting better huh.
