Chapter 2: Escape (Part 1.5)
[Joan's POV]
"Joan, take a breather, we'll take it from here.." Those words rang in my head. Sigh. I might have overexerted my power a bit.
Leaning on a tree, I try to slow down my breath. The full moon's light passes through the spaces between the trees, lighting the battlefield.
Achilles slowly being covered in steel pounced on the downed direwolf like a madman, punching its face as hard as he could. Throwing punches after punches. The reflection of the moonlight on his steel skin was slowly decreasing as blood splattered onto his body. The direwolf tried to wriggle free, but the steel man was pinning him to the ground.
That's Achilles's Talent, Steel Metalmorphosis, it can turn any part of his body into steel. Seems like Sun already gave him Exalt as he was rushed towards the direwolf.
Sun and Elizabeth arrived to help Achilles. The direwolf howled loudly as Sun stabbed its eye with his dagger. As it was fighting for its life the direwolf finally shook Achilles and it stood up. Its mouth opened, tongue hanging out. Blood trickled down from its eye. The other eye burning with rage, it howls. Sharp claws slash down towards the steel man. Achilles crossed his arms to take the blow, but the claws were repelled by a barrier covering him.
"Thanks Elizabeth!" he shouted
She nodded.
Ah the sword and shield are together, I muttered to myself.
Achilles and Sun began their onslaught on the direwolf, stabbing and punching its body repeatedly but its body was tough. While it was taking damage the direwolf kept returning some to both Sun and Achilles, slashing its claws to counter the attacker. Cracks begin to show on Elizabeth's barriers. Regardless Achilles continued to pummel on the direwolf's body. Covered in blood, the direwolf was barely standing. It was just fighting for its life.
"The third direwolf is getting up!" I shouted
"Sun! I'll hold down the third,"
Achilles began barreling towards the shaken direwolf. He pounced. The direwolf growled at Achilles and glared at him. It rushed at him and bit down on him with great ferocity. Like a glass, the protective barrier on Achilles shattered.
"AAAAAAHHH!"
Scrambling into my feet. My hands are shaking. Tears began to flow.
No
No
No, this isn't happening.
The direwolf has the steel man in its mouth.
Suddenly there was a bright blue flash
Rain had long stopped, but the sound of thunder erupted out of nowhere.
CRASH
There he was just standing there, dagger in hand, staring at the dead direwolf.
