Chapter 32: Persevere

It has been more than two years since Dev found out about the death of his family. Every day, knowing that he may never see his family if he fails in his pursuit of the [ETERNAL], he felt like torture.

If he creates a report card for himself for these past two years, he would've nothing to write for evaluation except learning basic archery. He hasn't gained anything on his own. He has only been able to use the Gift the Earth gave him.

His adventure hasn't even started despite spending more than two years. He hasn't taken a single risk in fear of dying.

He wasn't fearful of death. He was scared of failing his mission. He has already lived enough to grow bored of living. Dev never desired to live forever. He just wanted to spend his life peacefully with Tara. But, Destiny has other choices for him. If someone told him about the existence of Elves and Dwarves three years ago, he would've termed the person crazy and laughed off about it.

Dev was frightened of the fact that if he died, then Tara, Natasha, and everyone he knew died unfairly. He didn't even know the identity of the person who was responsible for the genocide of humanity and other innocent species on the Earth?

Dev has to avenge the death of his family and countless others. For that, he can't fall.

If two years ago someone had given him a choice, he could either revive his family and spend life with them in peace or avenge the Earth. He would have chosen to bring his family back to life without a second thought, but now he plans to avenge his family and the Earth. He did not know what the Earth has given him at that time, but now he knows.

His biggest beneficiary was the Earth. He can only repay the Earth debt by bringing her and her countless children back. Regardless of what steps he will take in the future, he knew he couldn't rush them. He can only move forward after planning it many times.

He was bearing the lives of countless lives on his shoulder. He sometimes finds himself suffocating under the weight, but he must move on regardless of the torture or suffocation. He has to persevere if he wants to become the [ETERNAL]. The Earth has told him there hasn't been any [ETERNAL] in the past, so he could understand how hard it is to achieve something that no one has ever accomplished.

The next day, early morning,

As Dev has only one patient for the day for this month, he made a new timetable for himself. He'll treat the man early in the morning. After the treatment, he'll meditate for three hours straight. After meditation, he'll then train with Rose and Lily in the clinic. He couldn't afford the Archer training every day, as he also needed to buy meat of the beasts for Lily, so he dropped the training plan.

He has told Regina about a different time for her father's treatment, but he decided to change the timing, and he also thought that the earlier the treatment happens, the better for her.

Dev reached Regina's house. There were still two guards standing there at her house gates, but their faces were different.

He wasn't sure whether the guards were on different shifts, or they were fired. But, he had a feeling that the possibility of them being fired is very high, as he had seen the look on Regina's face yesterday.

He knew they weren't in the wrong, but he didn't care. They were strangers to him. He wasn't a good person to care about what happens to a stranger because of him.

Regina must have already told the guards about him, as they didn't try to stop him.

When the guards saw Dev, they saluted him and told him to wait for a moment. One of the guards contacted Regina about Dev.

"Sir, you can enter now," they opened the gate and told him to enter.

"You came earlier than the scheduled time," Regina said while coming in his direction.

"Yeah, I thought it would be better if we can do the treatment early every day," Dev chuckled in response.

"Do you not like it?" He asked to make sure.

"No, it's fine," Regina answered.

"Let's go and see your father," Dev said.

Regina nodded and changed her direction towards her father's room. Dev also followed her.

There wasn't any change in Regina's father's situation from yesterday. He looked the same as yesterday.

Dev went up to him and transferred Prana until his Prana capacity wasn't almost emptied. There still wasn't any change in the man's body. It was the same as yesterday.

"Okay, today's treatment has been done. It's very early to say whether my treatment is effective or not," Dev told Regina after the treatment.

"Do you have any idea when you can say about the effectiveness of your treatment?" Regina asked.

"It will take at least 15 days to tell whether the treatment is effective or not," Dev said seriously.

"It's time for me to leave. I'll come back tomorrow at the same time," Dev said and started to leave.

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow," Regina nodded.

She then went to drop him at the door. Dev nodded at her when they reached the gate and went to his clinic.

He returned to his clinic. It was time for his meditation.

He began to meditate as told in the meditation art for opening the chakra points after he acquired the meditation art.

He would use energy from the atmosphere and move the energy according to the 'Strongest Meditation Art'.

The Strongest Meditation Art uses demon cores or energy from the atmosphere to forcefully open the Chakra points after reaching Level 1. Dev hasn't reached Level 1, so his body couldn't handle the energy from the demon core. But, he could use the energy absorbed from the atmosphere and then move them as stated in the 'Strongest Meditation Art'.

Only Dev could do this before reaching Level 1 because he held complete control over the energy in his body.
