Chapter 2: Chapter 2 A Yokai Appears
As the man snuck past the moving metal boxes he glanced at them and said "People must've been overrun by these things and taken prisoner, I better avoid them." As he entered the large place covered in metal he saw people walking around in strange clothes very different from what he was wearing. As he seen these clothes he glanced at his own and asked "Could those clothes be mind-controlling them?" As he began to move in closer a woman grabbed him by the back of his shirt and pulled him away from the people. Once they were both out of sight the man stared at her and stared at her for a moment. As he stared at her he realized she had long dark black hair and was wearing a mask with cat whiskers on it that was covering her mouth and nose.
While staring at her he asked, "What's up with the thing covering your mouth?" The woman glared at him for a moment and then asked "Why are you here, I haven't done anything wrong, so why is a fox spirit here?" The man tilted his head in confusion and asked "What are you talking about?" The woman pointed at him and angrily said "Not only that, you almost walked right out into the open in front of a ton of people without disguising yourself!" The man stared at her for a moment and then asked "Why would I need to disguise myself?" The woman turned away and sighed as she asked "Is this really the moron they sent to come after me?" The woman glanced at him for a moment and seen him sitting there confused as if he hadn't the slightest clue about what was going on and then turned back away. The woman thought for a moment and then mumbled "No wait, they wouldn't send some idiot to drag me back, and I haven't even done anything wrong, so they have no reason to drag me back."
The woman turned back around to him and asked "Why are you here?" The man thought for a moment and then said "I was getting a closer look to see what those moving boxes were, and then I saw these people in weird clothes." The man pointed at her and said "Kinda like the clothes your wearing." The woman glared at him as she said "Hey don't judge my clothes, I spent hours picking these out hoping they were cute." The man lowered his hand and said "Then are these kinda clothes normal?" The woman nodded and said, "Yes they are, so stop being rude!" The woman pointed to him and said "Besides, your clothes are way weirder than mine!" The man pointed to her mask and said "Then what about that, no one else had one on." The woman stared at him confused and asked "Can't kitsune detect yokai?" The man stared at her as if she said something in a completely different language and then said "detect, yokai?"
The woman nodded and pulled down her mask revealing that her mouth was cut ear to ear as she said quite annoyed "Yes, like me, a split-mouthed woman." The man stared at her mouth for a few seconds and then stuck his fingers through her cheeks as he said "I think someone stole part of your face." The woman's face turned bright red as she slapped his hands away and quickly put the mask back on. The man stared at her as she glared at him and then shouted "Why did you do that?" The man just shrugged as he said "I dunno, it was just a reflex, sorry if it offended you." The woman took a deep breath and then said "It's fine" as she took the mask back off. The woman stared at him and mumbled "I shouldn't get mad at him and cause a scene, maybe this yokai is here to test me… if that's the case I can't afford to fail this test!" The woman stuck her hand out as she said "Let's start over, my name is Lilac, nice to meet you."
As the man shook Lilac's hand he said "Nice to meet you Lilac, I'm… I can't remember." The man thought for a minute while holding her hand and said "That's odd, all I can remember is bleeding out from my throat while thunder struck all around me." The man stared at her and said "Sorry, I can't remember my name." Lilac glared at him as she said "It's fine" as if she wanted to punch him." Lilac glanced slightly upwards as she mumbled "You just have to put up with him until for a little while, just relax and don't strangle him." Lilac stared at him and smiled as she said "Well if you can't remember your name why not come up with a placeholder name for the time being?" The man stared at her and smiled as he said "That sounds like a good idea." The man thought for a moment and then said "How about… Felix?" Lilac nodded as she said, "Yes that name is fine, but can you please let go of my hand now, it's getting kind of awkward."
As Felix let go of her hand he said "Now that I have a name I'm ready to see those moving boxes a little closer!" Lilac punched him in the head as she said "They're called cars you idiot, and why are you so interested in them anyway?" Felix held his head and stared at her for a moment as he said "Those boxes have people in them, it must be some kind of creature or prison, I need to figure out what it is and save those people." Lilac punched him in the head once more as she said "First off it's not a prison or a creature, it's how people travel nowadays." Lilac pointed at him and said, "Also, the way you're dressed and your tail stick out too much, so how are you gonna get a closer look at these things looking like that?" Felix thought for a moment and then smiled as he said "It's simple."
As Felix changed back into a fox with the leaf snow stuck to his fur Lilac glared at him and then said "Your lucky I'm not willing to hit an adorable animal, and that I'm willing to warn you that if you went to get a closer look at those cars you'd be run over and killed." Felix changed back into his human form as he asked "Really, I thought that was full proof." Shortly after he said this Lilac punched him once more as she said "I'm sick of being so nice, so stop acting like an idiot, I know you're a much smarter and way more powerful yokai than me, so why are you wasting my time acting like a moron, did they send you to drag me back or not?" Felix stared at her for a moment and then said "Nobody sent me, I came down from a hill after waking up underneath a tree." Lilac glared at him and asked, "Does this mean… you weren't testing me?" Felix shook his head as he said "Nope, sorry to disappoint you." Lilac glared at him and punched him once more as she said "Next time just say that."
Lilac began to walk away as she said "If that's all I'll be on my way now." As Lilac walked away Felix spotted a car moving towards them on the black path. Once it was closer Felix transformed back into a fox and stood in front of the car patiently waiting for it to stop as he thought "I bet I can block its path and stop it to find out how it moves." As the car approached him Lilac glanced behind herself to see if he was still standing there but instead seen him inches away from the oncoming car. Lilac quickly turned towards him as she shouted "Watch out, it'll kill you!" As the wheels of the car ran Felix over Lilac said "Maybe I give other yokai too much credit… he definitely wasn't a smart yokai." Lilac stared at his twisted body and then watched as it bent itself back into shape as she said "Oh right, you can't kill a kitsune by simply running it over or stabbing it, you'll have to completely remove its tails."
As Felix laid there Lilac picked both his leaf and him up off the road and said, "You're coming with me, if the higher ups hear about a yokai causing disturbances in a city it'll definitely cause trouble for all the other yokai." Lilac stared at him and said, "Although I don't think that'll be an issue since you lost your leaf." As Felix looked up at her she said "You're a lot cuter like this, you're also less of a pain to deal with." As Lilac carried him she said "I'll bring you back to my place, once we're there I'll explain some stuff to you, and if you behave I'll give you your leaf back."
