Chapter 2: II

Early morning, I could hear the birds chirping. I grab my phone from the nightstand to check the time. It is 7:00am. I get out the bed and hit the shower. An hour later, I get out and change and finally go down for breakfast. I see dad already preparing food for all of us. I grab a stool and sit down. "Good morning sweetie," he wishes. "Good morning dad," I wish back. A second later, all my brothers come downstairs. "Good morning fam!" they all shout in unison. Dad and I wish back. "Excited for your new day in a new school Lory?" Caleb asks. "Well, it's actually not new because I did spend my kindergarten and elementary school days there," I answer. "True. But a lot has changed," says Brian. "Yeah, that's nice," I grab my bowl of food and stand up and put it in the sink and walk away. "Lore, where are you going?" shouts out Alex. "Walking to school with Emily," I answer back and walk away.

I close the door behind me and was amazed to see Emily already standing outside. "Hi baby," she greets. "I thought I was going to pick you up," I reply. "Nope. Not today. Come on. The boys are waiting," she says, and we walk away. Few miles later, we notice Eddie and Aiden. Eddie stretches his arm and waves vigorously. Man he's always enthusiastic. Aiden just looks at us and gives a small smile. "Finally we get to walk to school together again!" Eddie exclaims. I let out a laugh. "Well, only for today at least. Since Aiden's car is being repaired and it'll be dropped over at school later." Aiden has a car? I snap out of my thoughts when Emily grabs my hand and we all walk to school.

Suddenly, four girls and a bunch of guys walk up to us; my childhood enemies. Rebecca Collins, Abigail Smith, Melissa Humphrey, Eleanor Davis and their other halves.

"Well well well, if it isn't the pretentious Lorelai. What's wrong? Boarding school didn't give good food?" disses Rebecca. "No. But they can still cook better than you apparently," I reply. She rolls her eyes. "What the hell brings you back?" Abigail snaps. "Well, whatever it is, it clearly isn't your business," I snap back. "You people need to back off," Emily cuts in. "Make me," Eleanor speaks up. "Watch it you little shit," Emily warns. I look at Emily and it seems as if she's ready to tear her limb from limb, but Eddie stops her by getting in between telling her it isn't worth it. Fortunately, she believes him and we all finally walk away. "Hey Dixon," Rebecca calls out and I turn around and look at her. "You better know your place here," she says. "What's wrong Collins? Scared I might take your spotlight?" I tease. "Stop acting like a child geez." She rolls her eyes. "Just watch your back," she says and I turn and walk away. "Yeesh. What was that about?" Emily asks. "Little miss spoiled brat is just thinking too much. Nothing to worry about," I assure and we all walk to class. I on the other hand head over to the principal because I needed to meet him.

I knock on his door and open it. "Headmaster Jenkins?" I call out. "Ahh, yes. Come in," he says. I walk inside and sit down. "So, how are you feeling about your new day back in school?" he asks. "Sort of nervous, but other than that, it's okay," I reply. Well, I hope you fit right in. Now, go to class." That was quick.

I stand up and wish him and I walk away. On my way out, I bump into someone. "Hey! Watch it!" I warn, not knowing who it was until I finally looked. It was Aiden. "Oh. Hi," I stutter.

"Oh hello," he greets.

"Sorry I didn't see you there."

"No it's okay, neither did I. I'm going to be late for class. I'll talk to you later." And he walks away.

Oh. Okay.

I take a look at my routine and notice that I have math in the first period. Perfect. My day already seems better already. Stupid routine.

I rush into class and grab a seat. Right before I'm about to sit, the bell rings and the teacher walks in. An entire hour goes by as I try not to fall asleep. Finally, the bell rings and class has ends. I grab my routine to check my next class. Its history. I grab my bag and run across the hall to my next class. Coincidentally enough, I grab one right next to Aiden. I turn to my side and I am in utter shock as I see he's sitting next to me. Class finally starts and the teacher introduces herself and the class begins. Towards the end of the class, she tells us about our homework. "I will be giving you all an assignment which you'll have to present. I will pair you up in twos and you will have to come up with a presentation. This will be added to your exams. If only one of you is doing the work, both of you will get a zero on this presentation. Now, I'll call out the names of who you'll be partnering up with," and so she recites what's written on her notebook. Then my name finally comes up.

"Lorelai Dixon, your partner will be Aiden Dawson." What she said taunted me. It was Aiden. My 'best friend' who I haven't talked to in years. I do not know how I am going to do this. He takes one look at me and smiles. I smile back. This is going to be such a pain.

I get up and finally go to my next classes and the day just goes by, and finally lunch time arrives. I walk down the hallway and reach the cafeteria. I search for Emily and finally notice her. She waves her big arms for me to see her. I walk over to her and sit down. There were two other girls already sitting along with her. These must be the girls Emily talked about when I was still in England. They both look at me with bright smiles on their faces. "Lore, this is Maddison Jones and Alice Saunders. Guys, this is Lorelai. The one I've been talking about," Emily introduces. "It's such a pleasure to finally meet you," says Alice. "We've all heard so much about you," Maddison continues. "Emily has told me about you guys too. I'm glad we finally met," I say. "Em says that your aunt is really strict and that she wouldn't allow any phones in the house. How could you to talk to each other if you didn't carry a phone?" Maddison asks. "We'd call each other through my aunt's phone. Basically Emily would lie to her saying that she's my mom and my aunt would buy it and we'd talk for an hour or so," I answer.

"Damn. That must've been rough," Alice mentions. Oh you don't even know the half of it.

"Hey look there are the boys!" Emily exclaims. I look over to my right and I see four boys including Aiden and Eddie walking towards us. They all looked like perfect teenage hot boys who were God's finest creations. I turn over to Emily.

" You never told me you're friends with hot guys now."

"Sweetie. I'm seventeen. Wouldn't it be obvious already?" The girl makes a valid point.

"Hey," says the first guy. He walks over to Maddison and gives her a kiss. "Hi baby," she says. Total cringe.

I look over at Alice and she's turned bright red, and so has the guy next to her. Is this what teenage romance supposed to look like?

"Lory!" Eddie shouts out and comes over to hug me. "I could get used to seeing you in our school now." I let out a laugh. "Let me introduce you to the gang. The one kissing Maddison is Nathan Lewis. Total man whore. The one next to Alice is Jamie Mccarthy. Such a sweetheart. The one standing like a total idiot is Tyler Walters. Emily's soon to be boyfriend, and the one next to Aiden is Corbyn Harper. Total asshole but decent guy." I laugh at his descriptions.

"It's a pleasure to meet all of you." Eddie gives me an even tighter hug. "Aww you're always so sweet!"

Corbyn grabs him by the collar and pulls him away. Corbyn is tall and muscular, like any other teenage athlete. He has auburn coloured hair and blue eyes. He has a crooked smile but his teeth are perfectly straight and his skin tone, slightly tan. "Now now, a woman needs her space," he says. He sits down next to me. "Edgar has told me a lot about you."

"I'm sure he has."

"He said you were the best soccer player when you were kids. Was that true?"

"Well I wouldn't say I was the best. But since I grew up with brothers, they taught me a lot of things."

"Why not try out for the team then?" Suddenly everyone stops what they're doing and they stare at us. Oh boy. "That would be a great idea!" Eddie exclaims. "But no girls are allowed in the team. The rulebook literally says so," Nathan points out. Maddison hits him on the chest. "Gosh Nate, you are such a misogynist!" I couldn't help but let out a chuckle. While Nathan is trying to apologise, the rest start debating about whether or not it's possible for me to join.

"Even if it was allowed, do you even think coach would let her join?" Jamie asks. "Well, coach isn't really against the whole female teammate so if she's a good player he'll definitely let her join," says Corbyn. "True but how will we know if she's a good player? If she isn't, I doubt any of us would even have the time to train her," says Tyler. Damn. I'm right here guys. I'm right here.

It was to my surprise when Aiden intervened. "If all she has to do is impress the coach by playing, then her spot is already secured. She's literally better than anyone else on the field." I look at him and give him a warming smile. He looks over and suddenly flusters and looks down. "Damn Dawson. You have a hell lot of confidence in her," says Jamie. "Well why wouldn't I? She's beat mine, Eddie's and all of her brothers' asses more times than I can count," Aiden says. "Well, it's official then. She's going to try out for the team," says Corbyn. Eddie screams out in joy. I feel as if I don't have a say in this. Then the bell rings. Lunch break finally ends. Maddison and Nathan said their goodbyes and so did Alice and Jamie. Eddie came over to hug me before he left and Aiden just walked away like he usually does.

"Well. I guess I'll see you after school princess," and walks away. Princess? Emily locks arms with me and says, "He so digs you." I laugh and say, "Oh yeah? What about you and pretty Tyler? Eddie said that you two are soon to be." She then laughs too. "It's not like that. But I hope it will be like that," she eyes me and continues. "I don't know. We haven't decided who we are yet. We're just going slow." I smile and put my hand on top of hers. "I'm proud of you." She laughs. "Yes well, this person you're so proud of has literature now and if I don't hurry, my teacher is going to make me stand outside again, so bye," and she runs off with Alice who apparently had the same class with her. "What do you have now?" Maddison asks me as I turn around. "Biology," I answer. "Oh okay. I have chemistry. I'll catch up with you later," and she walks away too.

I rush over to my bio room and pick a table and finally settle myself down. "Excuse me, is this seat taken?" I turn around to see who it was. Obviously I didn't know who he was, but seeing him made me all flustered. He points to a chair right next to mine. "Oh. What? Oh! Yes. Wait no. I mean no. It's not. Take it. If you want it, or need it, or something." Dammit Lorelai what is wrong with you? He lets out a laugh and sits down. "I'm Braden McCain," he introduces as he offers a handshake. I firmly shake his hand whilst stuttering. "Hi. I'm Lory- Lorelai," Stupid. "Nice to meet you Lory Lorelai," he lets out a chuckle and so do I. Braden has dark brown hair and defined cheekbones. His skin tone is fair and his teeth are slightly crooked but look good nonetheless. Compared to the rest of the boys, he isn't exactly tall but he is definitely taller than I am. Braden has dark brown eyes and seems as if there's so much more to him than what meets the eye.

"So, I've never seen you around before. Are you new?"

"I guess you could say that. I used to come here but then I went to live with my aunt for better studies and now I'm back."

"Oh. Where?"

"England."

"Damn. So wait, you're part British?"

"Ha! I wish. My aunt just moved there because she got offered a job."

"Let me guess. Pure torment?"

"Yes! Finally for once someone doesn't expect a great life there!" he laughs. "How'd you know?"

"My parents sent my brother to a boarding school in England and he said it was a total nightmare."

"Well, I think your brother and I would be good friends."

"True. But I'm pretty sure you and I would be better friends instead." He smirks.

I start to blush and fluster. Even he realises it.

"Sorry that was so uncalled for and way off-line."

"No no it's okay. I don't mind."

"You sure?"

"Yup!"

Suddenly the teacher turns to us. "You two! You're disturbing the entire class! Keep quiet or get out!" he warns.

Braden and I keep our heads down and look at each other and laugh. Not so stupid anymore.
