Chapter 17: I can't even walk

"Umm, thanks for your help"

Mara spoke to the man who was avoiding eye contact with her. They two were standing at the door, the man was ready to leave since it was inappropriate to stay with unmarried woman all night. "No problem, then excuse me. It is nearly morning now"

His smoky grey eyes looked down at his wrist to check the time and turned out it was almost 5 in the morning. "Wait" The young woman stopped the man from leaving the house. Oliver Jack turned around and looked at the woman with wrinkled eyebrows.

His charcoal colored hair flickered under the moonlight. The cold breeze brushed his soft hair, looking extremely attractive and cute. Oliver waited for the young woman to continue her words. "Give me your number"

The young woman's words made Oliver's eyes widened in disbelief, not believing his ears. "Aren't we going to make Remy Horper suffer?" Mara asked with furrowed eyebrows. Oliver gasped in realization. She was asking for his number just for another reason.

Not like what he was thinking. "Here, dial your number" He put out his phone from the black leather jacket's pocket. "Done" the young woman handed the man's phone back to him. "Then rest well" Oliver spoke with a stone face, not showing any expressions.

"You too! I will contact you later" Mara waved her hand at the man with a small smile. Oliver went into the Ferrari 488 and drove off from the house. Mara let out a sigh when the man left. He was not that bad though. He might look emotionless on the outside.

But he was a kind guy with good look. "He is not bad" she murmured and walked into the house. Her steps were directing to the upstairs. She walked into the room and lied down on the bed slowly. "I have to take a day off from company"

She sighed tiredly and closed her eyes. Thanked to the wound and tiredness, she fell asleep quickly. Her Husky was in the company with employees and Kylo Aaron. What if Remy Horper killed her dog too? Due to her thought, she left Husky at the company.

"What the heck is this?!!"

The next morning, in the Mara Athena's father's villa, the loud shout was heard from the old man. "Remy Horper!! Come here!!" The old man shouted loudly, making everyone in the house flinched. Remy Horper stepped out of his room and walked down to the living room.

As he arrived to the living room, his eyes met the man on the floor with a knife in his chest. The man's eyes were opened, it looked like he died in pain. Remy Horper's eyes widened in disbelief. That man on the floor was the one who he ordered to kill Mara Athena.

Now that man dead body was in front of him. Then did Mara Athena kill him? Did she send the dead body to him as a warning? How did she survive under the well trained man's hands? How did she kill the man with her weak body? What was going on? Was that a dream?

"What is this?!!" The old man raised his voice and glared at his non blood related son. "I-I don't know, dad. I don't know" Remy Horper defended himself, back stepping from the dead body as far as possible. There were thousands of questions in his head.

"You are the one who would do a mess like this! Tell me the truth before I throw you on the road!" The woman aka the mother of Remy Horper ran out of the kitchen with panics written on her face. "Please calm down, darling. Maybe someone wants to prank our son"

She spoke with a smile, trying to calm the man down. "Y-yes. Maybe one of my friends sent this as a joke" Remy Horper awkwardly smiled at his non blood related father. The old man gritted his teeth in anger. "If I see another dead body again, I will throw you on the road!"

The man shouted and left the living room as the woman followed him. Remy Horper stared at the dead body with shaking eyes. He could not believe it. It must be a joke, it must be a dream. It could not be reality. It was impossible, there was no way.

"This is impossible"

Remy Horper murmured.

Meanwhile, in the lavender violet colored room, the young woman was sleeping peacefully under the sunlight. She slowly turned around and searched for her phone with eyes closed. When she found the phone, she opened her eyes to check the time.

"It is already 1pm?!!" Mara Athena eyes widened in disbelief as she sat up on the bed with speed. It was already afternoon. "Does Kylo Aaron even notice that I am not at company?" She spoke to herself, putting the phone on the bed. "Shit.." the wound made the young woman cursed.

Mara stepped out of the bed and went into the bathroom with the help of wall. She could not even walk normally, she had to hold the wall to walk straightly. Mara put toothpaste on the toothbrush and started her morning routine in pain.

Her ankle became little better after Oliver applied ice on her ankle for fifteen minutes straight last night. She admitted that he was such a kind guy who would do as others said. At least, Oliver was thousand times better than Remy Horper.

Mara walked out of the bathroom and sat down on the bed with an ice pack. She treated her injured ankle with an ice pack. Because of her phone ringtone, the room's silence was broken, making the young woman furrowed her brows.

She picked up the phone from the bed and accepted the call in curiosity since the number was unfamiliar. "Yes, Mara Athena is talking" she spoke with furrowed eyebrows. "Miss Mara, it is me. Kylo Aaron" the man's voice was heard from the other side of the phone.

"Oh, yea" "Are you coming to company today?" Kylo asked as the young woman pressed the ice pack on the ankle. "No, something happened and I can't even walk. So I can't come" she replied half truthfully. Kylo frowned at the young woman's words.

"Is that so?"

Mara gulped, the man was suspecting her obviously. She could feel the suspicion in his voice. "Please take care of my company, I will send someone to the company to bring my Husky back" The young woman said as she stopped pressing ice pack.

Kylo fell into silence, not replying anything. He only knew that the young woman left the company last night with suitcases. Then she did not come back and now she even said she could not walk because something happened.

What happened to her last night? What made her could not even walk? Did she fight with someone? Impossible. If she fought with someone, chances were more likely to be death of her. Or did she meet with some gangstas on the way last night?

Or maybe she slept with someone and could not even walk because she enjoyed the night too much? If so, then who was that man who slept with Mara Athena? Who could he be? Was that the hidden boyfriend of Mara Athena?

Kylo did not realize that his thoughts were becoming wilder and wilder. "Kylo?!" the young woman's voice brought the man back from train of thoughts. "Yes?" he replied with furrowed eyebrows. Not knowing that Mara called him for hundred times.

Just the thought of the young woman sleeping with a man made Kylo Aaron feel uncomfortable. "What are you thinking so that you could not even hear my shouts?" Mara questioned with wrinkled eyebrows. Kylo gulped.

"Nothing, it is nothing. Then please take care, Miss Mara" Kylo spoke, wanting to hang up the phone quickly. "Mmm, you too" the young woman replied and hung up the phone. "He is clearly planning something" Mara murmured.

The next evening,

the young woman in sky blue colored v-neck sweater was walking in the street with her Husky, her steps were directing to the convenience store. She was wearing a black colored short pants which matched her Nike shoes color.

Mara stepped into the store. She left her Husky outside of the store, tying the leash at the pole in front of the store. She came here to buy snacks and drinks, she could not go to shopping mall with her wound and injured ankle.

So she chose to go to the nearest convenience store with her husky. Mara put the drinks and snacks along with instant noodles packs into the shopping basket. "Help!! These girls are stealing the snacks!"

The woman's shout caught Mara's attention. Mara turned around and looked at the direction where the shout came from. Her eyes met the two girls who were around 22, holding the chips bags with masks on while wearing the caps.

She walked towards them as the cashier ran to the two girls furiously. However, the two girls pushed the cashier who was running to them. One of the girls punched the cashier as the other one shut the woman's mouth with her hands.

Mara put down the shopping basket on the floor and walked towards the girls who were doing as they wanted. "Girls, stop! This is so shameful. If you want to eat, you have to work. Don't steal things like a fool" she said like a mother lecturing her kids.

"Shut up! Who are you to lecture us?!"

The girl who was shutting the woman's mouth, shouted furiously. "I am just a young woman who lacks something. You know, I can give you money if you let them go. I can give you job to do" Mara smiled at the two. The cashier gulped.

He squeezed his eyes in pain as the girl tightened her grip around his neck. "Why would we believe you?! You are just a woman who popped up from nowhere!" The girl shouted at the young woman. "Well, it is your opinion. I am just offering you to get a job"

The young woman shrugged, waiting for the response. "What job are you going to give us?!" The girl asked with a tightened frown. "Be my assistants while work as maids in my house. I will give 5000 dollars a month" Mara raised her eyebrow with a smirk.

It was obvious. The two girls did not look like thieves. It was as if they could not help but to fill their stomachs by stealing. Because if they wanted to steal for real, they would rob the whole store with guns or knives. However, they just tried to steal five chips bags.

Mara could see the two girls futures if they became useful persons. The way their hands moved to the woman and the man's necks was so fast. Maybe if Mara trained the two girls well, they could even fight with tigers. They could become useful for her.

The young woman's words hesitated the two girls. They did not want to steal either. They just did not have other choices. But they did not want to believe the young woman who was offering them a job. What if she sold them to somewhere?

"Release them"

Mara spoke with a cold face, her honey brown fox eyes had filled with flames. "Can you promise your words?" One of the girls spoke with a stone face. "Listen, I am a woman who keeps my promises. Just come with me. I will give you a room to live, food to eat and a job to get money"

The girls stood at the places, looking into each other's eyes. They were deciding on what to do silently. Mara sighed. "If you don't want to, then bye. I can't waste my time on useless things" the young woman turned around and walked towards the exist.

But was stopped by the response.
