Chapter 36: A cup of coffee

The Sunday had arrived.

"I am so sleepy" the young woman yawned and leaned on the bathtub headboard. She was taking a shower in the early morning, she promised Ezekial to have a lunch today. "Ezekial.." Mara murmured and closed her eyes. She never expected him to notice her.

If only she did not ask for help from him that night, they would never meet. If only she did not kiss his neck just to hide from Remy Horper, things would not be like this. But Mara could not complain. If things were like this, then she would follow the flow.

It was not like she could change the things anyway. Since it was already happening, she could only follow the flow to avoid death flags. "I need some caffeine" the young woman spoke under her breath and stepped out of the bathtub.

When Mara finished wearing an outfit, she put some lotion and power on her body and face. Then she walked down to the dining room to take a breakfast. "Good morning" Lila grinned as she placed the plates on the table.

"Hello!" Mara smiled and sat down at the host seat. "You look sleepy, Miss" Lily spoke as she furrowed her brows at the sight of the young woman yawning for the tenth time. "Is it too obvious?" Mara questioned and took a sip of the milk.

Lila nodded.

"You are yawning for many times" Lily spoke with a stone face. "Yea, I slept really late last night" the young woman responded and swallowed the food. "About Juliet Horper going to jewelry shop everyday.." Lily started the conversation.

Making the young woman looked up at her while chewing the food. "Did you find out why?" Mara asked and raised her eyebrow. "Yes, she is the lover of the jewelry and people from the shop say she is one of the VIP customers. But in fact there is a group which is owned by Juliet Horper.

She is the leader of the group and they always play poker while betting on the jewelries and money. Also that jewelry shop is illegal and not licensed to the government. Everything is illegal. Juliet Horper is the main person who is pulling every string"

Lily explained as she stood beside her twin sister. The young woman nodded in understatement. Her lips curved up into a small smile, thinking of how to make Juliet Horper cry in pain. "I understand, thank you" Mara smiled at the girl.

"You are welcome" Lily replied with a grin. "Miss, I saw someone in front of the house yesterday" Lila suddenly spoke, breaking the silence in the room. Mara furrowed her brows and looked up at the girl. "What?" she tilted her head and questioned.

"I saw a man walking back and forth in front of the house yesterday. He looks like he is searching for something" Lila said with furrowed eyebrows. She was cleaning the house while humming random song yesterday. But she could feel the stare from the outside.

So she just looked out of the window and found a man walking back and forth as if he was just walking around. "Did you see his face?" Mara questioned as Lila shook her head. "He was wearing a cap, I only saw a scar on his right hand"

The young woman fell into silence, thinking of the possibility. "He must be sent from Remy Horper" Mara murmured. Seemed like Remy Horper found out where she lived. He must be stalking her to kill her. "I see"

Mara stood up from the seat.

Walking out of the dining room as the twin sisters followed her. "He must be stalking me to inform Remy Horper. If you ever saw him again, take him into the house and tie him at the chair. Don't let him escape" the young woman spoke.

Lila and Lily nodded in understatement. "We understand, Miss!" The twin sisters spoke. "Take care, Miss!" Lila shouted and stared at the young woman who was walking out of the house after finished wearing high heels. Mara turned her head and smiled.

She waved her hand and went into the taxi. "I have to buy a car as soon as possible" Mara murmured and looked out of the car window. She had to buy a car so that she did not have to ask for help from others. After a month, she would be getting enough money to buy a Ferrari at least.

Mara decided to buy a car next month. "You have arrived" the taxi driver spoke as the young woman paid the cost. "Thanks" she thanked the man and went out of the taxi. "Hello" Mara greeted the employees who were grinning at her. She stepped into the elevator.

As the elevator door opened, the young woman went out of it. Her steps were directing to the office. When she walked into the office, her eyes met the cup of coffee on the table. Mara furrowed her brows and sat down at the swivel chair.

"Coffee?" She tilted her head and stared at the cup with a stone face, not knowing what to do. No one had ever made coffee for her before. So who put the cup of coffee in her office? Slowly and slowly the young woman began to understand the situation.

She gasped in realization.

Ofc, it must be Kylo. He was her assistant so he must be the one who made this coffee for her. "This is strange. Did he poison this?" Mara furrowed her brows in confusion. Kylo had never done thing like this before. All he did was tell the schedule and protect her.

Nothing more such as making coffee, cleaning the room for her. So why now? Was he planning to kill her by poisoning the coffee? Mara did not drink the coffee and placed the cup beside the laptop, completely ignoring it.

She refused to drink it since it could be poisoned. What if that coffee was poisoned and was sent from Remy Horper? It was not like she could ask someone if he/she poisoned it anyway. So ignoring it was the best option. "Let's work"

The young woman inhaled a sharp breath and started working quietly. Like that the time passed. The afternoon came as Kylo knocked on the door, causing the young woman to look up at the door with a stone face. "Come in" she let the man come in.

As the door opened, Kylo's aurora green eyes locked with Mara's honey brown eyes. "What's wrong?" She questioned and tilted her head. "Someone is asking to meet you" he spoke as his eyes fell onto the coffee cup which was left beside laptop.

The cup was not empty. Looked like the young woman did not drink it even just for a sip. Why? Why didn't she drink the coffee which he made specially? He made the coffee by asking the employees in the company. Employees were shocked to see the man asking for help at first.

But then they carefully explained how to make coffee in anxiety, fearing of getting yelled from the man. However, the man did not even raise his voice. He just listened to the women's explanations. The scene of the man listening to them carefully made the women shocked.

They never expected the man to be that cold and calm. He was really handsome and calm like a gentle breeze. The women in the company began to admire the man since he was not that bad like rumors. They kindly helped the man with making coffee.

Kylo noticed that the young woman who disliked coffee and tea, began to drink coffee often. Her taste had changed. She just changed so fast. She was acting like another person. They confused the man. It was as if someone had possessed her body.

Kylo just wanted to make coffee for her.

He had no intentions.

He just wanted to make coffee like assistants in novels. He just wanted to do it, there was no other reason. His brain was stopping him from doing thing like that but his heart was making him do it. In the end, his heart won and Kylo made coffee for the young woman.

However, his efforts were wasted. She did not even drink the coffee. It made Kylo frowned tightly in annoyance and displeasement. He did not like it. That was not what he wanted. That was not what he expected. "Earth to Kylo!!" Mara shouted.

She waved her hand in front of the man's face, pulling him from ocean of thoughts. Kylo quickly stepped back when he realized that the young woman was already standing in front of him. "What are you thinking so deeply, Mister Kylo"

Mara raised her eyebrow and tilted her head, wanting to know the reason why Kylo was spacing out. She was asking who it was but the man was staring at the cup of coffee with a frown as if his ears could not hear anything. She kept asking and yet no response came up.

Her patience left the chat and made the young woman stood up from seat, walking near to the man in annoyance. Kylo shook his head, not telling anything. "Fine whatever. Who is asking to meet me?" Mara asked and looked into the man's eyes.

"Ezekial Clyde"

Kylo replied. He was working in his office but an employee ran into his office and told him that the CEO of 'Jole' company was asking to meet Mara Athena. He was dumbfounded when he heard the words. What was that ice cube doing here?

Why was he asking to meet the young woman? What was their relationship? Without thinking twice, Kylo just came to inform about that to the young woman. "Oh! Right! It is already lunch time!" Mara suddenly spoke.

She completely forgot that she promised Ezekial to have a lunch together. Her reaction made Kylo furrowed his brows in confusion. Why was she reacting as if she was close with Ezekial Clyde? Why was she talking as if Ezekial and she had known each other?

Were they dating? The question popped up in Kylo's head. The young woman walked past him and pressed the elevator button. Leaving the man in daze. When Kylo snapped back to the reality, the young woman was already walking into the elevator.

He turned around and followed her rapidly. Not wanting to be left behind in daze. He wanted to know the relationship between Mara and Ezekial. "He asked me for the lunch today. I forgot to tell you about that" Mara said as the elevator door opened.

Kylo did not respond. He just followed the young woman who stepped out of the elevator and walked towards the man who was standing in suit. He was none other than Ezekial Clyde. His face was cold like an ice while employees stared at him in disbelief.

What was the famous and successful CEO doing here? Ezekial's gold eyes lit up when he saw the young woman walking towards him with a stone face. She did not look surprise nor happy to meet him, her face just showed boredom.

"Hello, Miss Mara"

Ezekial greeted with his deep seductive voice. Making Kylo frowned tightly. Mara smiled. "Hello" she greeted back. Kylo stood behind the young woman, looking the man from head to toes in annoyance. "Do you want to go now?" Ezekial raised his eyebrow and questioned.

He was telling the young woman that she could do whatever she wanted. "Yea, let's go" Mara shrugged. She just decided to follow the man. Maybe it could be the last time she was going to meet with him. This second male lead was going to forget her after meeting with the female lead for many times.

So it was fine to have a lunch with him just for once. She was sure that he would forget her in the end. Little did she know that her thoughts were going to become the total opposite in the future. "Take care of my company please. I will come back after an hour"

Mara turned around and said to Kylo who was looking at Ezekial with a cold face. His eyes were flickering with flames as if the man in front of him was taking something away from him. "Kylo?" Mara's voice pulled the man back from killing Ezekial in his mind.

"I understand" Kylo responded.
