Chapter 14: A Visit
• A year before canon •
A year ago, Ryū had met an interesting encounter. It was something that he found not long ago. It was a girl with black hair and yellow eyes.
When the first time he saw her in Hinokami's Bakery, he knew that her cursed energy is a little too high for a normal human.
Everytime she and her glutton friend comes in this bakery, the yellow-eyed girl's scent exudes uncomfortablefeeling. It was like she can feel them, but yet perceive them.
He also felt something inside her. And when he tried to find it, he failed. But that was a few years ago. Now, as a 3rd year student, he managed to get it.
He saw so many spirits, but not curses or anything likethat, but the seem to have the sam origin. An example of that is when a person died wih regret, it will create two forms, one which he called as phantoms that cannot be touched even with high cursed energy unless you used cursed energy to touch them, and the other is the negative emotions manifesting as a cursed spirit.
However, these phantoms are not souls, it's nothing but are th residuals of who they are because of their regrets or any negative emotions which also helped creating and manifesting a cursed spirit. They don't manifest on something that does not live.
He also didn't tell the 'Higher ups' or what they called as 'Elders' so they won't pull any stupid moves. He just know it.
Right now, as a third year, he has no mission for the day so he took a stroll at night, then it rained. Luckily, their uniforms are made to not absorb too much water so they can fight withou feeling sluggish just by being wet. In the rain or in the waters, that is.
He decided to take cover under a bus stop at which he saw a familiar girl who was scared. No, scared is not the right word. She was so terrified to the point she freezed, but he's amused at the girl to keep her composure as if nothing happened, so he did one thing. He helped by jumping down and stomping on the phantom and exorcised it with cursed energy as it is highly connected to sprits, thus it was effective.
"What's your name?"
"Y- Yotsuya Miko..."
"Miko? Blessed child? Nice name! By the way, my name is Kamado Ryūjin."

On top of a school building, there stood a maroon-haired young man at the age of 18 was looking at a certain pink-haired young man at the age of 15. This person is Ryū as expected.
The person he is looking at is none other than Itadori Yūji, his partner-in-crime when they were together.
"Yūji... Wasuke-jiji..." Ryū sighed and then vanished from anyone's sight.
• Hospital •
Walking through the halls of a a hospital, Ryū walked with non-silenced steps on the way to a certain room. Of course, he visited the old man and Yūji before he even got bedridden. His only condition when he enrolled in Jujutsu Tech was to be able to visit Yūji and Wasuke at certain dates.
And during that, he is not to be given any 'assignments' throughout the day.
Right now, he stood in front of a room. He opened it, and saw Yūji being shocked which then turned to happiness since he is roughly pays a visit at them 8 times a year. Sometimes, special missions are given to him since he is officially a Grade 1 sorcerer. But now, he's promoted to special-grade due to Tsukumo Yuki who happen to be in the area when Ryū was sent overseas.
He jus happened to meet in Canada, which is a place that has rarely any special-grade curses and they, apparently, have no special-grade sorcerer in their branch. So, he was sent there as a Specials Grade 1 and was promoted by Tsukumo Yuki to be a special-grade.
Now, since his strength has been fully recognized (or is it?), he earns undoubtly a huge amount of money as well as being sent to more dangerous places.
Anyway, back to what is about to happen, Yūji hugged Ryū when he saw him enter the room.
"Ah, Ryū-nii!"
"Yo, Yūji-kun! It's been a while, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it's been a while. Although, I've been wondering why you've been so busy lately and can only video call us around this hour, and sometimes you don't which also makes me wonder about your school schedule..." Yūji's voice slowly faded as he saw the grin on Ryū's face.
"Why are you grinning like an idiot?" Yūji asked.
"Hehe..." Ryū showed the ring on his left ring finger, "Can you guess it?"
Wasuke almost have his eyes go out of his eye sockets while Yūji is still the same.
"It's a ring."
Ryū almost facepalmed himself. "And?"
"And... A ring?" Yūji wrongly answered.
"You idiot grandson, it's a ring on his left ring finger." Wasuke gave him some hints.
"And?" Yūji still failed to understand.
"It means he's already married!"
"Ooohhh... Is that so? Congratulations, even though it's late, I guess?" Yūji said and did a formal handshake.
However, Wasuke couldn't take his grandson's idiocy anymore as he exploded, not literally.
"You idiot! How could you know such thing when you yourself is engaged! You should know that already as that girl's fiancé!!!" Wasuke scolded Yūji.
"Oh? What's this? Yūji has a fiancée? Well, excellent job, Yūji. I didn't know that you were smart enough to pick up a girl and make her your fiancée." Ryū both praised and mocked Yūji.
"Hey! I'm not that bad with girls!" Yūji defended himself.
But Ryū ignored him, "And who's this lucky girl?"
"Well, her name is Zen'in Mai."
"Eh?" He paused a little, "NANDA?!"
"What, you know her?" Yūji asked.
Even though Yūji is stupid, he can pick up on things very quickly, an example is about how a person talks. He could easily know if such person is a good person, or on the dark sid- Ahem!
"Yūji, we are destined to be brothers. Her older twin sister is my waif- I mean, my wife! That means, if you marry her after 3 more years, you'll be officially my brother-in-arms." Ryū said.
"Uh... Shouldn't that be brother-in-law?"
"Let the small detail pass. Anyway, Wasuke-jiji. I've heard that you've been doing well." Ryū turned to look at Wasuke who has a smile on his face.
"Well, I've been better. Though, I think Yūji might have been skipping on his club activities." Wasuke glared at Yūji.
"Hey, jī-chan, that's not true. My club hours ends before 5, which gives me enough time to visit you and also give Mai-chan a call."
Ryū suddenly spoke, "Speaking of Mai, she has been somewhat distant 2 years ago but she seem happy though. I guess it's because of you. After all, she has been downed by her family, even Maki was discriminated. Even so, Maki didn't care about them. All she wants to do is to slap it in their face after proving them wrong." Ryū chuckled at the end of his sentence.
"Is that so? Well, whatever the reason is, it doesn't matter as long as no one gets hurt." Yūji said with a smile.
But for Ryū, it was a smile going back to when he accidentally killed murderer who tried to r*pe a 14-year old girl and Yūji happen to pass by the alley and saved the girl, but it ended up in him accidentally killing him because the man pulled out a gun. The man tried to point the gun at Yūji but his strength is too strong so it ended up being pointed at the criminal and the trigger was pulled. That wasn't the only time, there was also another case.
"Well, don't think too much about it." Ryū spoke without letting the old man know about what happened before, like accidentally killing a person.
"Anyway," Yūji stood up, "I've gotta give Mai a call, or she will give me an earful just by being late, ahaha..."
"Well, good luck if she did. I think, I also need to give Maki a call."
Before Yūji gets out of the room, he spoke. "You know, I feel like we are destined to be brothers but ended up being not blood-related instead."
Ryū laughed at that comment, "Yeah, we both have each one of the twins. And, we've been treating each other like brothers, so it doesn't really matter if that is even true."
The two laughed and was joined by Wasuke as he just suddenly remembered his son, Jin, who also have a friend who he treats as his brother. It was such a good memory.
Soon, Ryū left after talking a little bit to Wasuke.
Then, after coming back to Tōkyō by train, he immediately took a taxi to a certain place near the school since it was hidden to people.
After coming back to school after his short visit, he immediately tried to call Maki, but she happened to be busy and is fighting a curse then he hanged up so she can fight properly without being distracted.
After hanging up, his phone was called by a person he knew.
"Yo, Mieruko-chan!" Ryū chimed after answering.
⟨Can you not call me like that! My name is Miko, Yotsuya Miko!⟩ Miko argued. ⟨Anyway, guess what?⟩
"You're promoted to Grade 2?" Ryū guessed.
⟨Correct! And... You know, I haven't thanked you throughout this year. If you didn't appear, I wouldn't know how to protect my friend from these phantoms you called as. So, thank you!⟩
"You're welcome, Mieruko-chan!"
