Chapter 18: Chapter 18

"Hey Jason, what do you think?"

Inside Jason's hobby room where he was currently piecing together an All Might costume. While he looked up, his hands didn't stop moving since due to training, he was lagging behind. A small backlog of orders has built up and even with superspeed it will take four to five hours to complete it all.

In Lala's hands were a sleek pair of glasses with tinted lenses. The frames reminded him of the kind secret agents wore inside the movies.

"Glasses?" Jason asked suddenly, having a weird thought.

"Well, your costume doesn't have a mask, and Smallville gave me a thought. Instead of adding a mask, why don't we use your father's idea? Only instead of being a bumbling reporter, you could use a different approach." Lala puffed out her chest in pride.

"Like what?" Jason looked at her a little confused.

"A collector or maybe a treasure hunter? You do tend to collect quite a bit." Lala answered, looking around the room.

"I don't know the first thing about treasure hunting?" Jason replied and wisely chose not to comment on being a collector. If someone who didn't know he made outfits walked into his hobby room, they might mistake him as a hoarder with an issue.

"I'm sure you can speed read some books later." Lala said as if it wasn't a big deal.

Rolling his eyes as he dismissed the idea entirely as he had no idea of being a treasure hunter. He would probably have better luck winning the lottery.

"You could always be a private investigator?" Lala suggested but even she questioned it.

Jason just shook his head. "Why not just create a technology based business. I'm sure with our two heads we could do plenty which would solve my dual identities. While one appears charming and up front the other is behind helping improve others quality of life."

Lala tilted her head a bit, but in the end she agreed. It wasn't like they needed to create his dual identity quite yet. Given time they should be able to come up with other ways to separate their identities.

"Well, for the time being wear these glasses. They will boost your hypnosis a bit, helping with your disguise. While it won't stop really perceptive few on seeing through your identity, it will stop most at the first glance."

"Do I have such an ability?" Jason wondered.

"Yeah, or how else do you think Clark could get by for so long with a poor bumbling performance and glasses. In a place filled with reporters of all places?" Lala pointed out. "It's really weak though, so I made the glasses to boost it a bit."

"Thanks I guess." Jason said as he went back to work.

Smiling happily as he seemed taken to her idea, Lala gave him a small peck on his cheek before she left the room with a smile. Once she was about to close the door, her lovely head peeked back in. "I think you look cute in your glasses, so please wear them."

After his small blush died down he began to look back on the conversation. Jason began to wonder why he would need a dual identity?

'I'm not becoming whipped am I?' Jason thought.

Left to his thoughts, he felt a small poke on his skin as the needle bent. With a sigh, he pushed his thoughts away and focused on the task at hand. However, a smile soon formed as he remembered her saying he was cute in his new glasses.

Gathered around the dining table, James sat at the head tapping his finger. As the wood under his finger creaked under his strength. His blue eyes were scanning over a folder containing his empty transfer papers.

"It will be fine, Hon." Liz attempted to comfort him. "Once we decide on a place, I can prepare the transfer."

"I know, but deciding is always a pain. I like living in small towns as it reminds me of Smallville as Jason and I can use our powers frequently and without much worry. On the other hand I also like large cities as it reminds me of Metropolis, which has more advantages, but would restrict Jason and my use of powers."

"Well, personally I vote for a large city. I haven't lived in one since I was in college." Liz commented. "Now changing the subject, why have you suddenly begun pushing Jason on training to become a hero? You do know his views on becoming one."

"Also don't give me there is a threat coming and only he is able to deal with it."

"Truthfully, he is the only one here who could deal with this threat. Call it a gut feeling but Jason is going to be in the center of this." James said. "You should know I can't actively protect him or this planet unless I want to be kicked back to my original universe ahead of time. Not since he turned fourteen."

"I've been wondering about this but why did you agree to leave your universe?"

Turning his head and looking up at the photos hanging on the walls. James saw the pictures of the Justice League and through multiple photos how they changed and aged. Unlike him and Wonder Woman who basically stayed the same beside a few costume changes. Finally it was only the two of them as the others had passed on.

"I left because I wasn't needed anymore. Diana and I were the only two left." James said as his sadness could be felt leaking in. "I'm not talking about being the last two actual heroes left, but mortals in the universe. I'm old Liz, like really old as I watched planets come into existence and as they thrived and fell before crumbling into dust once more."

"When we became the last, Jason's mother came to us with a deal. She would help Diana create a new universe to replace the old while I would raise Jason in another."

Liz stayed silent at the massive revelations. She had known that James was old, but didn't exactly know how old. While it slightly stinged that she didn't have a clue how to comfort him and listening to him talking about another woman. She was determined to be mature about it.

"Do you love her? Diana I mean." Liz asked.

"I do," James confessed honestly. "I still miss her from time to time, but now I have you and Jason."

Liz just smiled and while she knew that he held someone else in his heart. She was glad she could be a part of his massive and majestic heart. A small part of her was also glad he would have someone looking after him long after she passed.
