Chapter 2: DAY 6-10
• DAY 6
"Yaa~wn, quite stiff here sleeping in the tree. Well, it's at least better than how I used to sleep before." I said as I then proceeded to jump down the tree I slept in before heading to hunt again.
"I wonder whats for breakfast today, I hope it's that snake again." I asked myself as my stomach growled in hunger. I then wandered near the base, carrying another dead rabbit hoping for a night viper to show up and take the bait. I kept moving further away as nothing but rabbits kept attacking me. As annoying as they are, I still killed and carried them with me, hoping to increase my chances of getting a night viper. That delicious flavor isn't something you just forget in a day, especially if you were sealed in a cave and wasn't even fed once a year.
"*Sigh did I eat all those snakes to extinction or something? Fucking odin, its already been an hour or som... Hmm?" While ranting, I sensed multiple unfamiliar beast coming towards me at high speeds probably because of the smell of the dead rabbits.
"*Sigh how ironic, the oh so great wolf of apocalypse is now being hunted by the creatures who used to bow down at a mere sight of me." I sarcastically said as dozens of wolves quickly arrived and surrounded me, with their eyes visible on dark parts of the forest.
"grrrr/grawr!/rawrawr!/awooo!!" the wolves growled towards me before stopping as I heard a howl coming from behind the wolves in front of me.
"So, you're the leader?" The presumed wolf leader had white fur, completely opposite from his subordinates who have black fur, making me think that the leader was probably what the old man called a variant or a rare species. It stopped its subordinates from attacking me recklessly before it looked at me with blood lust emitting in his body. It then growled at me as I smirked at it.
"Down, boy." I said as I then exerted some pressure on the wolves, stopping their movements and growls as they bowed their heads down and whimpered, trying to appease me for their impudence.
"Good, now what should I do with you guy? Hmm~, oh, I got it. Since I still need to protect those who treated me as "family", I'm going to have you guard the kobolds cave, got that? I said as the other wolves hesitantly nodded their heads in agreement in fear of angering me.
"No worries, you could still hunt for food and in exchange for guarding the kobolds, the kobolds will guard you too so Its a win win situation. For now, follow me first. I still need you to find me some snakes." "awoooo!!" The wolves howled as the wolves quickly scattered in all direction at my command, trying to find night vipers. I ordered them to howl if they ever find a night viper. It seems that night vipers literally go out and hunt at night, it seems I just got lucky yesterday and caught like five, I thought they got named night vipers because of their black coloration. This time around though, I got a huge haul thanks to the wolves.
"So that's why I didn't find any of them, it would be somewhat annoying if I could just eat them at dinner. Good thing I still could understand the language of wolves, if not, I would have been wasting my morning finding snakes." I said before taking another bite at the grilled night viper while also tossing another cooked viper towards another wolf.
"Time to go I guess." "Awooo!" I said as I got up and went back to the cave before I them introduced the wolves to the kobolds. Though they were wary at first, they gradually calmed down especially when I petted and ordered some of the wolves.
"You really never fail to amaze us, little one. Being able to move and talk five days after you were born to being able to kill dangerous creatures in this forest as well as command wolves. I wonder if I would even be surprised again in the future." The old man said while smiling.
"It's nothing, really. All I needed to do was exert enough pressure to make them follow me." I answered back while also crossing my arms.
"And that's what's impressive about it. You were even able to make that wolf leader, a variant beast, follow your command. Do you know that even a normal wolf leader is known to be prideful? But comaparing that to a variant bowing down and following your commands, if I never saw it then I would probably never believed it." The old man looked towards the wolves before back to me
"And seeing from the beast you've slain, I could say that you might be nearing you're rank-up. Maybe in the next day you would become a new species, who knows." The old man said before slightly chuckling.
"I hope so too, if I could become stronger faster then that would be for the best." I said with a smile
'Though my rapid and infinite growth ability should have had a large influence in my growth." I thought, making me slightly excited as I imagined myself getting stronger while fighting strong opponents.
"So what do you plan to do now, little one?" the old man asked, snapping me from my fantasies.
"Most likely hunting before and hunting some more till I become stronger." I said, suppressing my grin.
"Now now, though hunting is fun, its not the only way to satisfy your boredom you know, little one." The old man reminded.
"I'm not doing this out of boredom, I'm doing it to get stronger." 'And for the thrill of killing stronger opponents.' I said as my bloodlust slightly leaked out.
"Hmm, impressive conviction you have little one. Though sometimes, a break is well deserved for your body. So do rest sometimes, and not just at night, maybe have a little rest at noon even if its just for a while." The old man suggested as I thought for awhile and nodded.
"I'll try it to not forget it, old man" I said as I then proceeded to walk away heading back deeper to the forest while the old man waved his hands at me.
"Do come back safely, little one." The old man reminded as I looked back and nodded before continuing on my way. As I delved deeper in the forest, I encountered and killed many new creatures. Like a golden spider and some bat with rainbow coloured wings. I also encountered some fraze bird's.
Fraze bird's are uncommon predatory birds thats usually found deep in this forest. They have golden-white feathers while the feathers at the end of their wings are dark brown. Their dark brown feathers could become as hard as steel if mana is infused so they use it to shoot at their preys at a safe distance. Fraze bird's also looks like a common falcon except for its lion like mane covering its neck and its dark brown and light brown tail feathers.
They would have been superbly annoying if not for my magic as well as my predict ability. One shot of simple lightning magic could already fry them and if they ever try to attack me with their feather's, I could easily dodge it thanks to "predict" so they were no biggie for me.
A hind bear also tried to attack me, it had strong and thick fur so my magic barely gave them a damage. Not to mention, its speed was also somewhat fast too so long ranged magic isn't very optional. Though its fast, it was also big, some people might think that being big is an advantage and in some circumstances, it is, but in a one on one fight with a nimble opponent, it couldn't be much more of a disadvantage.
Those who have bigger build could have a hard time turning around and could easily be hit in their weak spots, so I used it to my advantage. I kept on attacking his weak spots, which was the back of the neck or the its side belly while dodging its line of sight. Some time after that, it collapsed dead on the ground, caused by either blood loss or exhaustion, or even both.
I then cooked the meat right after I took and kept its fur, though its meat was kinda tough so I'm most likely not going to eat it again.Its fur though, still has a lot of use, it could be used for decorations, for furniture, or clothing that increase could make you warm, and my just fur isn't going to cut it. The clothing they gave me also won't last that long if I grow bigger especially from the growth speed I'm showing right now. And since its still noon, and I already ate, I suppose I could have a little nap like what that old man told me.

Hmm, the nap took a lot longer than I expected, its already evening. I guess I should go back now, I hope I could encounter more of those bears since I could still use more fur to cover my back when I sleep or at least even as a pillow would work.
"Mmmhhmm, that was some nice rest." I stretched my body before jumping down the tree I was napping at as I begun to return back to the cave. I did encounter some creature's while returning though most of them were either just raccoons or rabbits. Though as I was halfway through, I heard what seems to be neighing sounds of a horse.
"Triple horned horse? Never seen one of those before, and I guess I could use some more food." Being curious, I ran towards the sound, chasing towards it for about half an hour as I moved closer and closer only to finally notice burnt trees and some purple flame residues around me.
"Triple horned horse's don't have any magical capabilities and to cause this much damage to the forest. If I heard the old man right, there was only one being that utilise purple flames in this mountain." I thought as I continued to where the sound was while I uncontiuosly grinned. After a few more minutes of chasing towards the sound, I finally saw what caused the burnt tree's in the forest.
"It really is a nightmare."I said as I stared at the dark skinned horse burning in purple flames.
Nightmare, a variant of the triple horned horses. This horse has dark skin with golden diamond marks spread on its body. It also has one large horn on its forehead accompanied with some fin like ear. the nightmare's back is completely engulfed with purple flames and every steps it takes cause's purple flames to appear in its feet.
Its tail is also like that of a dragons tail, long and slender. At the end of its tail is a burning fan shaped flames it uses like a whip. Nightmares are twice as fast as normal triple horned horse's and it could also breath out purple flames, using it to shoot it at an target.
'Hmmm, should I hunt it? As of right now, I might not be able to take out one of the forest lords.' I thought before laughing silently.
"Hahahahaha, who am I kidding? Of course I'll hunt it!" I grinned before quickly jumping above a slightly burning tree as I stared at the nightmare while also preparing my lightning magic. My right arms kept emitting lightning as I proceeded to point my palms towards the sky.

I then brought my palm down as thunder followed before striking the nightmare, making it neight lowdly before stopping, seemingly paralyzed.
'Now!' I quickly jumped down and dashed towards the nightmare while it was still slightly paralyzed from the attack and punched its head, stunning it even more. I then went and punched towards it again but before my strike could even hit its target, the nightmare quickly turned its body around before it stroke me with its tail.
"Graagh!!!" 'Damn that hurt, it even left a burnt mark on my chest.' I thought as I then quickly rolled sideways as the nightmare tried to stomp me with its feet.
"Damn!" As I was rolling, I quickly pushed my hands towards the ground, flinging me backwards. I then quickly jumped sideways as I barely dodged the purple flames its hoofs. I looked at the nightmare who was preparing to shoot purple flames at me as I took advantage of the cast time of the nightmares attack. I quickly picked up a stone before conjuring some lightning in my hands and aimed at the nightmares mouth.

I then threw then stone at its mouth, making the purple flames in its mouth burst. I then ran straight in front of it, taking advantages of the purple flames covering its eyes.
"Haaah!!" I screamed as I then pierced its eyes with my claws before I begun scrambling my hand inside its head. The nightmare neighed in agony as I begun reaching for the brain before pulling it out. The nightmare, without its brain, collapsed dead in the ground as I breathed a sigh of relief. The purple flames around its body then started disappearing as purple hair replaced the flames.
"Haaah, the first hard fight I ever got since I reincarnated, as expected from one of the four lords of the mountain." I said as I collapsed on my tail.
'I guess the hairs the one emitting those flames on its back, I wonder if purple flames will start appearing again if I poured mana in its body' I reached towards the head of the dead nightmare before pouring my mana on its body, causing purple flames to ignite again, replacing its purple hair.
"I guess I could use its tail as a weapon and its hide and hair an armour, it does have a tough hide after all." I said as I retracted my arms from the dead nightmares carcass. I then rested for a bit and then walked away from the battlefield, but not before taking the corpse of the dead nightmare.
It was already night when I arrived at the cave. My arrival caused quite an commotion as the other kobolds including uncle seishi and the old man looked in surprise , most likely because of the carcass of the nightmare. The old man went towards me and proceeded to ask questions on how I managed to acquire the body of the nightmare as I said all the details on how I killed it.
I then talked to them for a while while also requesting for the hide and the hair of the nightmare to be made as an armor. Both of them nodded as I begun to return back to the tree I slept in last night. Placing the dried up fur of the hind bear I defeated, I proceeded to lay down the tree branch and slept.

"*Yawn, new day new hunt." I said as I jumped down the tree, nearly stumbling down the ground in the process.
" Huh, my body feels weirdly different, and it's a bit colder. Is it almost winter or something?" I said while scratching my head as, in the process of doing so, I caught a glimpse at my arms, which caused me to quickly look at it.
" Huh, human hands?! Don't tell me..." widening my eyes, I quickly ran towards the lake near the tree I slept in and proceeded to look at my reflection.
"What the heeeeccckkkk???!!!" Caused by surprise, the reflection beneath me widened its eyes even more. What I saw my reflection, was a dark haired and blue eyed teenage boy. If not for the wolf ears and the black tail I had, I would most likely be mistaken for a human.
"How am I supposed to explain this to the rest of the tribe?!" I Started panicky walking in circes, trying to think of some way to make them know that it's me shortly before just giving up and decided on telling them the whole situation.
"*Sigh, whatever, I'll just go with the flow. If they don't, or can't believe me then I might as well leave, if they do then I'll stay." I released a sigh before I then went back to the camp only to be stopped by a wary kobold guarding the cave.
"Stop there, human! What are you doing here?!" the kobold guard stated as he pointed is spear towards me.
"Calm down, it's me, Fenrir. You know, the kid who was able to hunt a week after I was born." I said as I walked closer towards the guard.
"Impossible! You are clearly human!" the guard said as he increased his vigilance towards me.
"*Sigh, does having a tail and wolf ears above my head enough to prove that I'm not human?" I stated as both my ears and tail twitched.
"And how do we know that those aren't fake?!" the guard answered back, narrowing his eyes in the process. As the kobold guarding the entrance interrogated and questioned me, I could see that a shadow was walking towards us from the entrance of the cave.
"What's going on here?" The shadow, which was now shined in by the light showed the old man. I slightly waved towards the old man before I proceeded answered his questions.
"Hey old man, it's me, Fenrir." I said casually as the old man closely looked at me.
"He claims to be the prodigy child, elder Nencho." The kobold guarding the cave said .
"Oh, didn't know you guys thought of me as the prodigy child? I'm flattered." I joked as a thick mark appeared at the kobolds forehead.
"You're not the one I'm talking about, human!" the kobold said while glaring towards me.
"But I am Fenrir though. Y'know, the prodigy child." I continued the joke as the veins started to appear on the kobolds head.
"You're...." the kobold was about to rebut me again only to be stopped by the old man.
"Calm down, I could tell that he isn't lying to us. Only a few humans know our language, let along a name of a newborn." The old man stated before walking towards me.
"Yes, elder." The kobold guard bowed down slightly as the old man passed him.
"So, are you really the little one, Fenrir?" The old man asked.
"Yup, I am, I barely remember why this happened but I think I ranked up last night to a werewolf variant, so that might be the cause to why I look like a human right now." I casually said as the old man's, as well as the kobold's eyes widened.
"A werewolf variant?! Ahem, forgive me for that, little one. Can you perhaps transform into a werewolf right now or do you still need to do it at full moon?" The old man asked as his eyes were slightly shining.
"Well, I'll at least try to transform to see if I can." I answered back as I then thought of transforming back into a kobold or a werewolf. I suddenly felt myself growing bigger as the muscles in my body contracted, black fur's then begun to grow and eventually covered my body as the guard and the old man looked at me in awe and surprise.
"So, I did it right?" I asked as I looked down on the two below me.
"You there, old man?" I asked again as I heard no answer from my previous question.
"Oh I'm sorry for that, little one. I was quite awed at the pressure you are excluding. It's quite a domineering pressure." The old man stated before chuckling slightly.
Ah sorry, I didn't mean to emit any pressure, must've done it unconsciously." I said as I toned my pressure down.
"Oh no worries there, little one, no I shouldn't call you little one now, you're already almost as big as the cave entrance hurhurhur. Well, come in. Tell me the exact story, I might be able to help you with my wisdom." I nodded as I undid the transformation and followed the old man inside the cave, leaving a lone shocked kobold. After we arrived in the old man's place, we quickly sat down the stone chairs as I begun to say what I experienced last night.
"So, have you found out about the skills you've received?" asked the old man as I shook my head in denial
"No, not yet. How do I even do that?" I asked, confused as to how I even do so.
"For starters, close your eyes and think of "status". If you concentrate enough, you should be able to see the skills you have acquired and if you've received a divine protection from any gods and demigods." answered the old man as I nodded. I then proceeded to close my eyes, thinking hardly about "status" as I begun to see some kind of transparent board with blurry text placed on it. I proceeded to concentrate even more so before a minute or two, I finally saw my status.

'My [rapid and infinite growth] skill is this powerfull?! So thats why I ranked up so fast!! Though, what the heck is wrong with this {wolf of the apocalypse} title? Why can't I see its info...' I thought for awhile only to be awoken by the old mans question.
"So, have you seen it?" the old man asked as I nodded.
"So, did any gods give you a divine blessing and if so, how many?" the old man asked again as I mulled over it for awhile.
'I should refrain from telling him or any others all my strengths. It'll be good to have a trump card hidden after all.' I thought to myself before answering the old man.
"Yeah, I got two of them, one from the demigod of beast and another from the demigod of hunting." I answered with a slight smile on my face.
"Oh?! That's very rare! Having one divine protection is already rare enough, and you have two at that, impressive, young one." The old man said before bursting into laugher
"Young one, huh. Is that the new nickname you're giving me?" I asked as I slightly tilted my head.
"Yes, you're already big enough to not be called "little" anymore so I decided on calling you young instead." The old man said, smiling towards me. I proceeded to nod in understanding before I then noticed Seishi coming towards us.
"So the rumours were true, after all. Are you having a hard time with your new look, Fenrir?
"No, and it's quite a flexible body. I also feel that my general body strength increased a lot, and since I have new skills, I'd like to test it out and see how they work." I said as I unconsciously grinned.
"Hurhurhur, quite impatient you are, young one. Well, before you can go and have fun with your new skills, have some clothes first as the one you wore got torn when you transformed. Thankfully, I've already had someone to make some leather pants from the nightmare you handed yesterday. Now, you probably don't know where it is so follow me, we'll to the place.
'Oh, didn't even notice. Guess my little bro was just hanging for everyone to see, how embarrassing.' I thought as a slight blush formed in my face. I nodded in agreement to the old man before we stood up and went to the one who made me my pants, I of course got a hind bear fur handed to me to be used as a towel. We then entered a room as I saw a kobold sewing some of my nightmare carcass. She then looked at the old man before looking at me, widening her eyes in surprise.
"Hmm, a human?!" she exclaimed.
"Hurhurhurhur, sorry to surprise you, Shenma. This is the one who brought the nightmare carcass yesterday, Fenrir. He had ranked up yesterday into a werewolf, so as of now, he looks a lot like humans." The old man explained as the one named Shenma sighed in relief.
"Hello, Fenrir was it? My names Shenma, I work on the clothing's for the rest of the kobolds here. Just come to me if you have anything you want to make clothing related." Miss Shenma introduced herself wile smiling. I nodded towards her as the old man then proceeded to ask Miss Shenma for the pants. She then started searching for it, throwing many clothes in the process before finding and handing it to me. I tried the pants on as it seemed to have some stretchable ropes in it to tie it to my waist if it was too big.
After that, I said my goodbyes to Miss Shenma and the old man before heading out the cave. In order to test my new body strength and skills, I went deeper towards the forest as I begun to find a suitable test subject and not just those pesky rabbits and raccoons.
"Finally, I found one and it's a hind bear, just perfect for testing my bodies new strength." I said to myself as the hind bear roared after discovering me.
"Hmhmm~ feisty ain't cha." I casually said as the bear then rushed towards me at high speeds before trying to maw me with its claws. I dodged it quite quickly with paper thin distance as I was amazed at my speed and senses.
'Slow, did my rank up strengthen my senses too?' I asked myself as I kept dodging the hind bears swiped. Together with my passive skill [predict], it's almost over impossible for this hind bear to even hit me. The hind bear kept striking towards me, not giving up its attempts as I easily dodged all of its attacks for a while before I decided to try and transform my arms to a werewolves arm. I then proceeded to let the hind bear hit me once in the arm before quickly backing away from the bear as I checked my arms before proceeding to transform fully to a werewolf.
'Though it's almost nonexistent now thanks to my new passive skill "chronos regenerate", That attack still scratched me. Even if it scratched me, I'm still positive that this bear won't even be able to kill me except if it decapitated me or destroyed my heart.' I thought as I released a slight chuckle.
"Graaawrr!!" The bear continued to rush at me, trying to swing its claws towards me again only for me to now fully block the attack. I then gripped the arm of the bear tightly before punching it in the head, instantly crushing its skull like popping watermelons.
'An instant kill, really? How overpowered did I become just from one rank up?! I still had to dodge an attack from a hind bear yesterday, you know?! Now I just have to tank it out and hit its skull and walla!! It's dead. This might get boring, fast." I thought as I placed the carcass of the dead hind bear in my "space-time storage" before moving along deeper in the forest. I didn't bother to transform back to a human and continued my walk for about an hour as I kept stumbling upon rabbits to rabbits, I mean seriously, do they reproduce that fast?! I kept on looking for more test subjects while grumbling about rabbits before I felt a presence in the sky.
"Hmm, more fraze birds? I guess I might as well test my aim at them, though they don't even taste that good." I said as I released a sigh. I then proceeded to use my active skill "decelerate" at the bird as it slowed down its flapping before it started falling down the ground.
'Now that's what I call super effective, hahahaha.' I thought as I proceeded to walk closer to the fallen fraze bird ,only to stop as I heard more flapping sounds, lots of flapping sounds. I then looked at my back only to see about fifty fraze bird's circling above the sky.
'Oh my Loki!! Is this their nest or something?! Should I use teleport? Wait no, I could probably use try out that skill now." I thought as a smile crept on my face.
"Let's see if you can withstand this." I stated as I then let out my "bloodlust" and "pressure" at the birds, stopping them from moving around like annoying flies. I then proceeded to open my mouth before using two of my active skills.

I then bit down as all the flying fraze bird's lost their heads and some their bodies as they all begun falling down to the ground.
'Holy Hel was that awesome! It made a rain of birds in just one attack!!' I thought before sighing at the banquet of wasted food.
"*sigh well, since I don't need any of those birds then I'll just leave it there, some other predator would most likely eat it" I said as I then heard a familiar sound.

'So you can learn new skills by combining already acquired ones huh, neat.' I thought as I then walked away from the massacre, though not after I killed the decelerated fraze birds. I then saw a river as I walked closer to it while thinking about the food I could probably get from the or near the river.
" I haven't been here before, I wonder if there's anything new here?" I questioned myself as I ventured the place, I first stared at my reflection as I was quite curious on how I looked in my werewolf form and saw that I had black fur and light blue eyes. I also had a much more muscular body than that of my human form or when I was a kobold.
After looking at myself for a while, I ventured the river and looked around as I saw some fishes and some rabbits or raccoons but just that, nothing special resided in near or in the river. I then ventured further away before I saw a red horned deer drinking in the river.
Red horned deers are passive creatures, they don't attack if you don't look at them aggressively or attack them. They're generally like normal deers except for their red hide and two ruby red, bull like horns instead of antlers in its forehead. They're attack style also resembles that of a bull, dashing at an opponent trying to pierce them with its horns.
'A red horned deer, I heard that they were delicious from Seishi. How about we try some of them then, cooked of course. I just need to take them by surprise to not scare them away since it'll be troublesome if they ran. And I just got the perfect skill to test out for this guy.' Thought as I then proceeded to crouch down as I picked up a rock as I used two of my active skills.

I then threw the rock at the red horned deer as it noticed it and tried to dodge sideways only for the stone to curve towards its head, stunning it. I then proceeded to dash at the stunned deer and pierced its head with my claws, killing it.
'Hmm, I didn't get a new skill? Do both skills have to have compatibility in order to acquire a new combined one? That's most likely it.' I sighed as I sat down and cooked the red horned deer.

Fenrir's thoughts: I guess its pretty nice to eat near the river, I should do this more.
I then waited for the red horned deers meat to cook before I ate it. While I was munching it though, some animals seemed to have sniffed the smell of the red horned deer as eyes started to appear in the forest behind me.
Though I could just shoo them away using either my [pressure] or [bloodlust], I still wanted some more meat to give to the rest of the kobolds and the wolves.
Fenrir's thoughts: oh yeah, I forgot that todays the day that my little sibling would start walking, I should probably go back early and bring lots of food for them. I wouldn't want to disappoint another little sibling of mine, *sigh I wonder how their faring. Jorm should have just stayed down the sea, why did he have to be so fucking prideful and fight for dominance over who's stronger?! Hel too, that cute little sister I used to have now got her sight filled with jealousy for freya's beauty. Can't she understand that she's pretty too?! *sigh this is becoming a rant. Anyways, I still have to take care of these guys behind me.
I then looked behind before punching out towards then as I was trying out the new combined skill I acquired.
Fenrir's thoughts: [space breaking multi strike]
Every single one of them then go their skulls crushed or their bones broken. Some of the attacks missed as the targets either felt danger and moved away or were just lucky and moved away. I didn't kill those that survived since it would be a hassle to catch them now since they already ran.
Fenrir: they should be awake by now so I better hurry.
I then left after placing all the delicious or edible beast's I killed in my [space-time storage] and finishing my red horned deer meat. As I was walking back to the base, I noticed a creature I never saw before, a hobgoblin. The hobgoblin seemed to have noticed me since it hid above a tree and carefully observed me.
Fenrir's thoughts: the old man said that hobgoblins or goblins in general are usually dumb and they also usually never go out far from their cave alone so I guess this ones an oddity. Well, I heard that they're quite nasty to eat so I'll let this one go.
I looked at the hobgoblin for the last time as I saw that its body shook, I then smirked before looking away and continuing to the cave.
I arrived at the cave sometime later as I got lucky and found some night vipers. Though I wanted to eat it all, I didn't since I also wanted to give my little siblings some good food for today. I did ate one though to satisfy my cravings.
Fenrir: yo, uncle guard!
Kobold: oh, you're quite early today, fenrir. Also, I have a name you know and its not guard.
Fenrir: oh, you do?!
Kobold: of course I do, you dumb ass!
Fenrir: oh, who was it that called me "prodigy child" this morning again?
Kobold: just shut up kid. Anyways, my names ryuuto, nice to meet you again.
Uncle ryuuto is the one that really looked a lot like a wolf in the whole pack, if you excluded me anyways. He had dark blue fur together with light brown fur as he held a spear in his right arm.
Fenrir: oh, so uncle ryuuto, I've been wondering but, are you a variant too?
Ryuuto: mhm, I have the divine protection of the "god of clear waters" allowing me to use water based attacks better than other normal kobolds.
Fenrir: hmm, well anyways, my siblings are able to walk now right? The old man mentioned yesterday that the rest of my siblings would be able to walk today.
Ryuuto: oho, now someones excited to be a big brother.
Fenrir: of course I would be excited, this is the first time I would have some little siblings after all.
Fenrir's thoughts: can't tell him that I was excited to have more siblings, otherwise he'd get suspicious.
Ryuuto: well, they should be learning about the forest with the elder right now so they should still be at the children's bedrooms.
I nodded before saying my goodbyes as I headed to the place where I used to sleep at. After a few seconds of walking, I heard the old man talking about the hind bear as some childish voices kept screaming in awe.
???: wooaaaah!!
???: how scary
???: they sound strong!!
Fenrir's thoughts: the old mans probably teaching the kids about the hind bear. I guess I should show them what a hind bear looks like.
Fenrir: hey old man, I've arrived.
The rest of the kids and the old man looked at me as the kids tilted their heads in confusion to who I am.
Nencho: you're quite early, young one. What brought you here this early?
Fenrir: well, just wanted to introduce myself to my little siblings and maybe teach them a thing or two.
Nencho: well, come in.
I then entered and proceeded to walk next to the old man as he begun to introduce me to my little siblings.
Nencho: well, let me introduce you your big brother fenrir. Though he was born at the same day as all of you, he grew up faster than all of you so he's your big brother ok?
Kobold children's: ok!!
Nencho: good, new lets continue on about the hind bear.
Fenrir: do you need a real hind bear, old man? I have one if you need it.
Nencho: oh, perfect, well lets let the children see a real hind bear.
Kobold children's: a real hind bear?!/ really?!/ where is it?!
Nencho: now now, don't be impatient like your big brother here, hurhurhurhur.
I felt like I got shot by an imaginary arrow as I took out the hind bear from the [space-time storage]. The old man and my little siblings looked at me in surprise as I smirked proudly at them.
Fenrir: awesome right?
Kobold children's: whoooaaaa!!!!/ how did you do that, brother?!/ can I do that too?!
Fenrir: hehehehehe
Nencho: was that one of your skills, young one?
Fenrir: yep, hunting became much easier now thanks to this since I could now carry all the creature's I killed.
Nencho: quite a convenient skill you have, young one. Anyways, how about we go back to the topic. This here is a hind bear. And as you can see, they are very big compared to you so don't come near them, ok?
Kobold children's: ok!!
The old man and I then continued teaching the children's until it became dark. We then had a little party for the children as we cooked the food I brought before going back to sleep.
• DAY 8
It was now the day where all my little sibling would finally have their first hunt. It was still early morning as I woke up and continued hunting deep in the forest since my siblings first hunt would still be at noon.
I walked around for a while until I noticed that the same hobgoblin yesterday seemed to have wondered around here again though he now had two more hobgoblins and one goblin accompanying him.
They seem to be hunting some raccoons before they continued their way towards the west. I followed them stealthily for a while until I saw that they were about to bump into a group of kobold with a single kobold mage in it.
Fenrir: hmm, I wonder if they're going to kill the kobolds or flee from them.
I kept hiding above a tree as I saw that the hobgoblin group saw the kobolds and proceeded to hide behind a bush. They then waited there before the kobold mage wandered off the group. They followed the mage as the mage killed a slime, making him vulnerable for surprise attacks.
The black coloured hobgoblin then killed the kobold mage by piercing him with a rapier before hiding back to the bushes as the rest of the kobolds ran at towards the scream of their comrade. The hobgoblins then proceeded to kill all of them as I watched in awe at what the hobgoblins did, not even minding them killing my kind.
Fenrir's thoughts: well, it's a cruel world after all. Though if they ever try to do that to my siblings, their dead. Though how could those hobgoblins, who was known for being stupid, utilise that kind of strategy?
That variant too, he's extremely strange. Being able to command those hobgoblins in taking out something of higher rank than them, it's like he's an experienced fighter. I'll have to check them out more and maybe find their cave later.
I kept looking at them as they were eating the kobold that they defeated. After some time, I then saw the variant eat the staff as I and the goblin that accompanied him were bewildered at what he was doing before I noticed that his lightning magic increased by a mediocre amount.
Fenrir's thoughts: what in the yggdrasil?! Can you increase your magic by eating staffs or wands?! I better try it some time, but first, I should probably hunt some more since I still have to feed my little siblings before teaching them.
I then jumped from tree to tree as I left quickly and kept on hunting for more snakes and deers until it was nearing noon. I returned quickly using my skill [teleport] as I arrived at the lake near the my tree.
Fenrir's thoughts: can't have them know that I could teleport or the old man might suspect me of having some other divine protections.
I then went back to the cave as I saw uncle ryuuto guarding the cave entrance with the wolfs patrolling around the place.
Fenrir: hows it going, uncle ryuuto?
Ryuuto: hmm, fenrir? Your back early again, did you come to see how your siblings do in hunting?
Fenrir: yeah, might also teach them some techniques or two on hunting.
Ryuuto: ahahahahaha you, teach the kids who are almost the same age as you? Come on now, don't joke around, fenrir.
Fenrir: heh, at least I gather more food than you guys.
Ryuuto: kugh, I guess thats true. *sigh, almost all of the kobolds here are incompetent you see. Some of the adults are even killed by a night viper or hobgoblins even though their ranks are higher then them.
Fenrir: I know, I've already seen some kobolds die from hobgoblins already.
Ryuuto: oh, is it from a black hobgoblin too?
Fenrir: hmm, did you see it in action too, uncle ryuuto?
Ryuuto: yeah, this was just after you were born. I was just hunting for some food in the forest before I stumbled upon a two hobgoblin and a single goblin hunting two of our patrols. I didn't interfere as I thought it was unnecessary to help them and if they ever die from the hobgoblin, then their just incompetent fighters.
And thats what happened, they were defeated quickly, and worse, they were defeated in a one on one match. *sigh they were an embarrassment to the pack. Anyways, you wanted to see your siblings right? They should be outside near the mountains where the horned rabbits usually reside in and give birth.
I nodded before saying my goodbye to uncle ryuuto and went towards the mountains. After a few minutes of walking, I finally arrived at the mountains as I saw the old man, uncle seishi and other kobolds teaching my siblings on how to hunt by hunting their first horned rabbit.
Fenrir: hey uncle seishi, hows it going over here, are all of them doing fine?
Seishi: oh fenrir, you came. Its going fine here, though some of them are still having a hard time fighting the horned rabbits. Were teaching them one at a time to not let any of them face any dangers.
Fenrir: hmm~, well, did they already eat?
Seishi: no not yet, though its almost time for them to eat.
Fenrir: well, I brought some food but I think they're going to like it more if they eat the ones they hunted.
Uncle seishi nodded as he put a break to the training before a while later, we readied and cooked the food they hunted. The ones who weren't able to kill any were given food by me as I encouraged them. The whole day went to training until the sun started to set.
I didn't sleep until it was midnight though since I hunted some of my favourite food, the night vipers. And while I was hunting for some night vipers, I stumbled upon a cave. My instincts told me to enter the cave as it felt like there was some kind of tempting feeling sucking me in, though I put a hold to it and decided to sleep first before going inside to see what it was.
• DAY 9
After I woke up this morning, I instantly teleported to the cave I found though I still didn't enter it and ventured to find food first for the morning.
After eating, I went back to the cave as I checked it on the outside, checking for traps and such. After not finding any traps, I entered it as that it was just a normal cave tunnel. After walking in the tunnel for a long while, I saw some kind of light as it blinded me for a but before it finally cleared and I then saw ruins in the distance though it was guarded by some kind of rocky white golem.
The golem was hunching over as it looked like it was carved in quartz and had a golden gem above its back. Its shoulders were also bigger than its head though its arms where mediocre sized. It also had two big hands with golden claws. Its waist though were incredibly thin, I don't even know how the golem's able to stand up with that thin of a waist. Its legs too were minuscule compared to its body and it had a claw for feet's.
I then got closer as the golem opened its single blue eyes at me before it started moving towards me slowly. It then gained speed as it begun running towards me before it lunged towards me. I dodged it thanks to my [predict] and my senses as I then transformed myself into a werewolf.
It then tried to attack me with its claws as I dodged it before I punched the back of its wide shoulders, breaking it. I then backed away before I then noticed the broken parts returning back to the golem as it started regenerating its arms back. I kept on doing damages to the golem for a while only for it to regenerate before I punched its body, partially smashing it and revealing a single blue orb in the middle.
Fenrir's thoughts: so thats why it keeps regenerating, it has a core!
The golem tried to claw me again as I dodged and blasted the back of the golem, revealing the orb again as I punched it, destroying it. The golem then started to crumble as it lost its core.
After I defeated it, I undid my [werewolf transformation] and entered the ruins as I saw multiple turns to go to. I ventured the place as I kept on trying to find the right way as I keep being harassed by some pesky skeletons as there seems to be a lot of them wandering around this place.
They're quite easy to defeat, one punch is all it takes and they crumble to pieces. There were also some more golems wandering though they're quite uncommon and are quite easy to defeat now that I know their weakness.
As I kept wandering the place, I stumbled upon one odd skeleton that seems to keep summoning other skeletons.
Fenrir's thoughts: so you're the one summoning them huh, you pesky dwarf shit!
I proceeded to run to the skeleton that kept summoning other skeletons as I transformed into a werewolf again and rammed into the incoming skeletons or the skeletons that were blocking my way. As I was nearing it, I then jumped, reaching the ceiling, before I flipped myself and used the ceiling as a boost and lunged myself to the skeleton summoner and smashed its skull with my fist.
I then looked at the remaining skeletons before destroying them too. After a while, all the skeletons in the surrounding area were now crushed as I looked at the wand that the summoner was using.
Fenrir's thoughts: should I eat it? Meh sure whats the worst that could happen except for eating a dried up wood held by the dead?
I then took the staff before biting its head and chewed it before gulping it down. I waited for a notice to appear for a while but nothing happened. I also checked if my lightning magic increased but I still didn't see any improvements.
Fenrir: nothing happened? Why did I have to eat it then?! *sigh I guess theres no use mulling over it, Lets just forget that this happened.
I then continued on wandering the place till it was noon as I found some treasure chest here and there, they were filled with a bunch of trashes and some of it were just mimics. After some more venturing, I then found one room that had the same kind of tempting feeling to it. I entered the room as I saw a corridor leading to another room, I walked to it and opened the door only for me to see a dried up man in a robe.
Fenrir: hmm, is this guy the owner of this place?
???: yes, he was the owner of this place.
Fenrir: ?! Who are you?!
Fenrir's thoughts: I didn't even sense anyone!!
???: don't worry, I mean no harm. I'm just the caretaker of this place.
I then noticed a little doll fly behind the dried up corpse. The doll looked like a normal female doll except for the gem on its forehead.
Fenrir: who are you?
???: hello, my name is returner, and I am what they call I carbuncle. I am the one in charge of this labyrinth after my master died several hundred years ago.
Fenrir's thoughts: someone who lived for several hundreds of years already, not really that surprising considering that I already have [immortality].
Fenrir: so, who's this master of yours and what did he do while he was alive?
Returner: my master's name was velvet. He was one of the greatest humans to have ever lived in that era, he excelled on handling spirits, creating legendary artefacts, using incredible magics, and many more. He....
I continued on listening to the carbuncle for a while after she finally finished her talk. I could have stopped her but she looked so proud in her master that I didn't have the heart to stop it.
Fenrir: so, since your the one in charge of this labyrinth, are you going to stop me from taking these treasures?
Returner: truthfully, if you were a human then yes since my master had hated humans when he was alive. And seeing that you're not then feel free to take all of them. I would also disappear from this place soon as I need the powers of spirits to survive but as you might have already felt, this place is now lacking with spirits as it has already been a long time since my master died. Its even a miracle that I survived till this day.
I nodded before looking at all the items and equipment in the room before I started taking it all away. I talked to the carbuncle while I was taking all the artefacts out. After taking all the artefacts, I decided to leave the corpse of velvet alone as I have no need of it and also as a sign of respect and gratitude. The carbuncle stayed with her master as she waved me goodbye before I returned the gesture and teleported out of the labyrinth.
After getting out, I immediately went to the river I went to last time as I wanted to check the stuff I got from the labyrinth. After arriving, I first hunted as I still haven't eaten yet and it was already high noon. After eating, I sat at the near the river as the shadows of the trees obstructed the sunlight from hitting me.
I then opened my [Space-time storage] as I inserted my arm inside it before taking some artefacts out. Truthfully, I had no idea how some of the artefacts made by velvet works, but thankfully, the carbuncle gave me some kind of book that contained all of the information on all of the items of velvet. She mentioned that it was also one of the artefacts velvet made and it was able to change the language that the book had to the language of the one who drops a blood in its cover.
I went ahead and separated the useful items for me and those that aren't as I also separated weapons from armour and items. It took half a day and I still wasn't able to check half of all the artefacts velvet had so I packed them up in hind bear hind to differentiate those I separated before placing them back to my [space-time storage].
I then ran back home as I hunted some night vipers for the night before arriving at my tree. I then cooked the night vipers and ate them before I went and slept for the night.
• DAY 10
I woke up as I ate my breakfast before going back to the river and continued on checking velvets artefacts till noon before I got bored sitting and reading about their information and decided to finally build a house or even just a hut.
I went back to the tree near the lake that I kept sleeping on before thinking on what I wanted to build.
Fenrir's thoughts: I could have a normal hut but that wouldn't be big enough. Maybe a tree house or just a normal house, hmmmm.
I kept on thinking what to build for a while before I finally decided on building a cabin.
Fenrir's thoughts: It'd be able to withstand the winds and be cozy enough to sleep, so a cabin it is.
I went further down the forest before cutting some trees using some large two sided axe I got from velvet's labyrinth and placed them in my [space-time storage]. I also asked some of the kobold to help me for my cabin. And even though they weren't really good at it, a help is still a help. The cabin was finally finished at evening, though it still wasn't finished on the inside.
I thanked the rest of the kobolds that helped me by hunting night vipers and giving it to them while they were thankful for the feast. We then had a little party for a while and soon after they ate, they left. I didn't go to sleep yet as I wanted some light source in my house and figured that they're probably much more easier to find and see at night.
I teleported back to the river and started my search for some light source and maybe some night vipers. Thanks to my [night vision], I was able to easily walk in the dark and not stumble on some stone or root. I ventured further in the lake as I saw new creatures like the giant black cat that tried to stalk me or the evolution of the night vipers, the midnight python. I killed all of them and stored some of them in my [space-time storage]. It was already past midnight before I finally saw what I was looking for, a dorkiss.
Dorkiss's are ladybug like insects that has seven glowing jewels in its chitin, one in the middle and three on each side of the wings. They are as large as a single horned rabbit and the mostly appears at night. They have a golden coloured chitin and its wings twinkles like the star in the night. The jewels behind their back also only lights up when its dark to either conserve mana or to avoid daytime predators. A perfect light source for the cabin.
Dorkiss's are quite easy to hunt since they're quite slow because of the jewels in its chitin. They mostly fire mini beams of light that can't really pierce my skin so I easily killed it and took its carcass and placed it inside my [space-time storage]. I then went back to my cabin and decided on making the light source tomorrow morning. I then placed a hide bear hide on the floor since I still didn't have anything inside my cabin before I slept.
