Chapter 2: Surprise! Surprise!
Victorian Count shortlisted eight Universities for the Victorian's Cup, an annual cup brought into existence for determining who was the better out of the two; Vampires or the Werewolves. The Victorian Count sent an invitation to the eight Universities to assemble on the 24th of June at the Victorian Count's Hall, which is scheduled to be tomorrow.
The event began by announcing the Universities that were going to participate in the Victorian's Cup had now commenced, as all the eight University's football team captains had gathered along with their coach and the University's Principal. As every year, the event began with an introduction of the Victorian Cup's history. The Victorian Count invented the Victorian cup to spice up the long-existing rivalry between the vampires and werewolves in a more competitive edge, he used sports as a medium for them to compete against each other at the most exciting level. Victorian Count went on to explain the selection rules. Victorian Count shortlisted eight universities, but only the top four were participating in the cup. Their overall performance throughout the year would select the top four teams for the cup, and the top four teams would include two from Werewolves University and two from the Vampires University. It was league-cum-knockout, which meant that all four teams would have to face each other at least once. These game's outcomes would decide the table, which would then depict the knockout stage matches.
University that places on top of the league group will play the semi-final against the University at the bottom of the league. Second place and third place would face each other in the other semi-final.
"That is all for introduction and explanation of the rules; we shall now proceed to the selection procedure for this tournament and the teams which take part selected for the cup." were the words from the Count, as he passes on the microphone to his assistant to do the honor and announce the team which qualified. The assistant took over from the Count, " I now reveal the name of the Universities shortlisted, Eclipse University who are the winners of this cup for five years. Bamword University is in the finals of this competition for the past five years. Inkford University this year has proved that the sleeping giants always rise. Nocturnal University has had a decent run of winning games the last few months. Riverfront University is another sleeping giant that has risen from the dead this year, has had one of their best years. The Academic University has performed amazingly well this year as well. Faith University, who have had their ups and downs with many injuries in their squad, has managed to be with us here with quite remarkable performances with so many injuries this year. Prism University has made history as it is their first time to get shortlisted into Victorian Cup. "
Now that I have revealed the names of the eight Universities. I want to congratulate every University that has made it this far. Unfortunately, only four teams will go through, but it does not mean that it is the end. Let this year be a stepping stone for your success for the following year.
This year brought us quite the twist as the three teams are sure to qualify, but there is a tie between the two teams as per our ranking records. So the three teams that have qualified are Eclipse University who are defending champions for five years, Bamward University, and Nocturnal University.
At this moment, Amy's mind and heart were all over the place; there was only one spot left in the tournament, and it was a tie between two Universities. Everything at the moment was uncertain, her feelings, the situation, whether or not Inkford University would make it to this cup because it seemed like a perfect year until Bamward University ruined everything for her. She was hoping to qualify. She wanted revenge against Bamward University for putting her in this place. It was almost like she was a completely different person when she had lost something important to her.
" The two teams which have tied are ...." the Count interrupted him by saying, " Please wait, as this year has been interesting enough, why don't we make it more enjoyable? So this year, the team who have tied will not go through based on ranking, but instead, they will go through by playing against each other, and the outcome of this match will decide their future."
