Chapter 3: I am !!
I regain consciousness slowly as I open my eyes, I feel a little dizzy but not tired. I sat down and see the owl coming to me from a branch of a tree a couple meter away. It land in front of me and I feel the worry in his mind.
"I am okay thanks for worrying and watch over me."
I say while smiling at it and pet it feather. Then I realize that the vague of pain in my mind is gone and I don't hear the thought and emotion of all the creature around. I search my mind for answer and I find something that wasn't there before.
"I am a dark fey and I protect life?"
That was what is write in my very soul and deep in my soul I can find other things like instruction or message.

Your a dark fey and I summoned you in this world for you to protect it with your loving heart. Dark fey are entities that rule over life and death with their magic, they are also empath and telepath, so they hear thought and emotion of other beings. You are one of the descendant of one of the most powerful being, Phoenix, the one that created the dark fey. Because of that your abilities are much more powerful.]
So that what I am and what I am supposed to do. Feeling a sense of purpose arise in me, made me gave away a small smile. Looking at the owl who is still looking at me with its eyes full of worries.
"Sorry for the awkward moment my friend, I didn't want to make you worry again."
While petting it, it decide to come just next to me and a thought came and I turn my head and say to it.
"Do you want to become my first guardian and protect me and the rest of the life in this planet until I or the planet disappear."
That was the first instruction next to the message, that I needed at least two guardians to protect me in time of need and to live with me and the burden that is on my shoulder. The owl looked confused but after thinking on what I said for 10 minutes it decided to agree with my proposition.
"Thank you for accepting me as your friend and companion"
I paused for a couple second to find the incantation in my mind, it was just next to the instructions.
"To make the pact a need to give you a name, so what to you think about Mell."
Yes Mell because it was a she. and it love it. I begin to concentrate on my intention and on the incantation and I begin.
"Oh Mother Phoenix, grant this owl with the name of Mell and made her my guardian so she can live as long as I do and gain the strength to protect me and the life on this planet with me!"
As the incantation begin stream of golden and green energy leave my body and enter the one of Mell, her eyes shine with green and gold, one color in each eye. When the incantation finish and the last drop of energy finish entering her body, she suddenly lose consciousness. I catch her before she touch the ground. I sit down as I was also tired after the ceremony and decide to keep her in my arm to protect her.
The next day, I woke up at the sound something moving with excitement on the snow. I can see Mell playing in the snow while her body seems to keep changing size without a stop. Seeing me up she calm down and come to me.
"Sorry for waking you up I was just so excited with all the energy I have now." She say with a happy face.
"you don't need to apologize I have slept enough and I am happy seeing you content with your change. WAIT!! you can talk now this is fantastique!" I said while taking her in my arms and giving her a hug.
"No I can speak only to you since I am not human or humanoid I can't speak to other." She was a little depressed.
"Don't worry yourself about that your perfect."
It took me a few hour to make out all the change that happen to her. Firstly her size, before she could reach the 3/4 of my calf and since I am small compared to the man that tried to kill her, it should be around the height of 1/2 of a normal sized male human. And now she could reach my knee. After that I could see that her feather changed color, they were snow white before and now were color cream and with some golden ones that shined like the mineral. And the last physical change is her eyes, they transformed from black to the same as her feathers so color cream with a tinge of green in it.
The last change could not be seen, thank to the pact she gained the ability to change her size at will, without any practice her max she able to reach my waist so about 1 meter in height. She is also able to create powerful gust of wind with her wings. The more she grow the more powerful the gust she could create.
"I hope you like the change Mell"
"I really do thank for choosing me"
"You welcome"
After our small exchange I ask if she can keep a eye around while I sleep because I still feel tired from the ceremony. I woke up during the night and that Mell continue to keep watch and call her to rest with me so that we can continue our task tomorrow. She fly to my embrace and begin to rest the moment body touched me. Seeing that I feel bad.
"Sorry to make you overwork yourself like that"
I say while looking at her rest and fix my first goal. To find a place to call home or to make one.
