Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Defense against the dark arts
William returned to the common room after his exchange with Professor Sprout, he only had to finish the promised essay, and he would have permanent access to the school greenhouses for the rest of his stay at Hogwarts, that would be really fundamental for his development in potions. He could ask Professor Snape for help, but unfortunately the Sorting Hat sent him to Gryffindor, and he naturally became Snape's enemy.
In the common room William left his most special belongings, now it was the turn of the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, the most famous class in the school due to its constant change of teachers throughout the last thirty years, because of this, there were different rumors circulating in the magical world, although the truth was the fact that the post was cursed by Voldemort himself when he was denied the post for himself.
Now who was responsible for the job was Gilderoy Lockhart, the famous adventurer who has faced dangerous creatures in many places around the world, arguably even as famous as Harry Potter today. All the books published by Gilderoy Lockhart himself are proof of his expertise.
"Classroom 3C, here we go.... " William muttered regretfully, he was already prepared for trouble, which of course was bound to come at any moment.
He took his seat as usual, this time parvati was his partner, "You were great earlier."
"They said that many times in class, though it really is normal if you have a little knowledge of herbology."
"Still, it's stuff that even Professor Sprout didn't know about, that just makes it more amazing that you know. I guess Castelobruxo must be an exceptional school, their uniforms are also much more colorful than Hogwarts'"
"You're right about that, I really miss having the green and gold uniform on my body...though if I start saying it too many times our classmates will look down on me, I don't want the Slytherin members to think I'm their ally" William pointed out softly eliciting a slight chuckle from the young witch.
Then finally, the door to the upper balcony in the classroom opened, revealing the figure of the professor they were all waiting for. Dressed luxuriously in the predominant colors of white and gold, causing his blond hair to stand out even more as he smiled with utmost confidence.
"Hello class" greeted the wizard approaching the balcony to give a glance to all the students in the room, "I am your professor of the dark arts, Gilderoy Lockhart. Order of Merlin third class, member of the league against the dark arts and five time winner of the most charming smile award in witches heart magazine, but we won't talk about that. That's not how I got rid of the banshee that presaged death."
Gilderoy laughed at his own comment seeking to make a better impression on the students who had been portrayed in the expressions of the young witches, on the other hand the little wizards did not find the professor's comments funny but rather somewhat uncomfortable and perhaps pitiful.
'Poor idiot, he needs to brag about his accomplishments to keep his self-esteem afloat' William pointed out in his mind, as even Parvati was practically mesmerized watching Lockhart.
Noticing that his comments were not amusing to everyone, Lockhart regained his composure and changed his tone in a second, "I see you bought all my books, excellent. I think we should start with a little test today. You have nothing to worry about, it's just to find out if you read your books and when you learned from me in the process" the test sheets were quickly handed out to the students in the room.
One of the corresponding sheets landed on William's desk, he wasn't expecting a test in the first class, although he didn't mind if it was about the class, but the test in front of him had nothing of the content of the class, every single question on the test sheet was about Gilderoy Lockhart.
