Jake woke up on the right side of the bed. After all why wouldn't he? There was a smooth Purple Rain by Prince in the background and the sun was shining in the sky, there ain't a cloud in sight. It's stopped rainin' everybody's in the play. And don't you know, it's a beautiful new day, hey hey.
(A/N: Hehe I'll stop now)
*Ring Ring*
Jake phone started buzzing, and looking at the screen he saw it was Nathan. Nathan was acting weird the past few months and Jake couldn't figure out why. He also seemed to know a lot of things he shouldn't, like what was going to be on the next test paper.
Of course, unknown to Jake, his body of luck would have made it that whatever he revised would be on the test.
(A/N: Something I wish I had, end of years papers are no fun at all)
Nathan was also egging Jake on to get the all new FIVR* game just released, 27th of its kind. After all they came a long way from beat saber, no matter how good that game is.
He even offered to pay for the DIP* pod for Jake, and while Jake wasn't poor, he didn't think paying 800 dollaridoos for the capsule was worth it, along with a 25 quid subscription per months for the game, it seemed a bit excessive.
But no, Nathan was adamant he had to join, something about all his preparations would be useless without the Lady Lucks boyfriend, of whom Jake had no idea who that was. Why was Nathan asking him to join the game when he wanted this lucky guy for his schemes?
Oh well
Anyway eventually Jake had agreed, and the pod was on the way today, with the game pre-loaded.
NWO* was critically acclaimed, and boasted the most virtual to real economy any game had ever had.
Honestly, when the game was on it's way, Jake was pretty excited, so excited in fact he forgot Nathan was calling him, definitely not the authors fault at all.
Nuh uh.
"JAKE WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG TO PICK UP??!!?!" screamed Nathan.
*Oops
"I'VE BEEN WAITING OUTSIDE WITH THIS HUGE POD AND YOU CAN'T EVEN LET ME IN"
This would be awkward for anyone but Jake, as everyone expects this from him and so they're not really mad at all.
"Don't get your knickers in a twist Swanny, you'll need them for your date later" joked Jake as he buzzed Nathan in.
Nathan came storming into the room heaving in a huge crate with NWO plastered on the side of it.
"I don't have time for a date tonight," Nathan stormed, "because the game is launching tonight! AND TONIGHT IS IN 25 MINUTES!"
*Double Oops

15 mins later
"Alright, now I've got 10 minutes to get home, thanks a lot Jake," sighed Nathan.
"Shut up you, you're literally my neighbour. It's not even a 10 seconds walk."
Nathan snickered and ran off, screaming goodbyes as he left.
Jake sighed and sat in the pod, ready to log in.
Excited for a new adventure? Or am I stretching it a bit now?
Probably stretching, but who cares my word count is going up suckers hehe.

AND THE GAME IS LIVE!!!!!
This message blasted across all platforms and all players were raring to go.
Nathan did explain to Jake how it started from watching beta testers' replays.
It started with a pretty angel asking for the appearance of your in game character. Jake didn't care and kept it as is though. After all Lady Luck married this face, why would she let him change it that easily?
Next was the location. How the angel did that was spread the entire world out into a map and span it like a carnival wheel. Jake got a dart and threw it on there.
However, the moment it left his hand time froze. No more spinning. No more moving of the dart. It just sat there.
Of course this is meant to happen, the reasoning is that as a class is next, and it gives more suspense to it all.
(A/N: Idk, I had this idea then another one and they don't fit, so I just randomlyput this there.)
Its appearance is like a slot machine, and it has five options open.
The way class distribution works is when you pull down the lever, 5 classes appear. There are different levels of classes: White/Common, Green/Uncommon, Blue/Rare, Purple/Epic, Gold/Legendary.
When the five classes appear, if the class only occurs once, it's a common class. If it appears two times, it's an uncommon class and it carries on like that up to if the class appears 5 times, it's a Legendary class.
The difference between the classes is that it takes longer for a common class to level up skills compared to an Uncommon and so on.
There isn't traditional exp in NWO, as the author can't be bothered to calculate it. Instead there are ranks to classes, which are leveled up by proficiency on skills.
E.g. A rank 1 common class is the exact same as a rank 1 legendary class, but the legendary class will get to rank 2 faster as it can level up skills easier.
When you pull the lever on the slot machine, you will get a primary class. Then you pull it again for a secondary class. A primary class is combat oriented, while a secondary class is a tradeskill class.
What will happen when Jake pulls the lever down?
Find out next time....
Or don't
Because I'll tell you now
Jake pulls down the lever
*Ching Ching*
The slot machine chimes as he let's go of the lever. Looking at the 5 classes, it seems that he has got all the same?
They all say pirate, so what does that make Jake? A Pirate Overlord?
-----New Class received----
Pirate Overlord - Legendary Class

Huh
Second time here we go!!
Five craftsmen?
What are the odds?

Smiling, Jake watched as time resumed, and the dart landed on the map, slap bang in the....
