Chapter 9: Summer Break Begins

Time passed quickly and summer break came. With the break came some good news. Tanya will be with me for a week!

I'll take her to the park and we'll play in the water. We'll have Emily with us, but that's normal.

It's gonna be so fun. My parents might even behave. They don't yell as much when we have company.

I also won't have to find her at Night. I'm so excited I don't even mind doing the chores. I'll make some chicken fried rice while she's here. We like the same foods so I'm sure she'll like it. I'll make other dishes, too!

Rice is delicious. I'll have to make a macaroni dish at some point. Dad loves Macaroni with corn and ground beef mixed in. He'll be in a good mood then.

Since it's another weekend, Dad's off work. I approach him timidly and ask about grocery shopping.

He looks away from the TV and sighs. "Guess we better since we'll have an extra person for a while... Alright, let me get my shoes on."

He pulls on his holy, stained shirt and slips on his double knotted steel toes. "Want anything from the store, Brat Brat?" He says while lightly squeezing my mother's arm.

"Hmm. Doritos." Mom decides. Its her usual chip of choice.

Dad says "Ok, Babydoll." as he noisily gives her a 'muah' kiss.

As we start to leave the front door, Mom says, "Oh, and some pepsi!"

"Two liter or 20 oz?" Dad says.

Mom shrugs, "Either."

"Oh kay." He says and shuts the door behind us. Emily is watching movies in our room. We have a bunch of Disney movies.

At the store, I count every dollar we put into the cart. Example, a product costing $2.29 is $3 to my count. I never take over the spending amount to the register.

This is my pride. Honestly, I'm usually stunned because its less than I counted to. I don't pay close attention to sales. I get lucky in this manner.

I sneakily pick out a container of cottage cheese for Dad. Anything to keep him a little happier..

We also get a giant tub of strawberry swirl icecream. Its my favorite, and more importantly, Dad's favorite.

The idiot doesn't realize I'm getting food stuffs to appease him. Which also means doubling up the bags of chips he and Emily enjoy. We also get mom's junk foods. I don't need any. I've still got half one bag and a full one. I'll be good for a few months. No one in the family likes salf and vinegar chips aside from me. I trained myself to like them for this reason.

I don't have to get the whatchamacallits for lunch since its summer break. So i don't. Saves a coupla dollars.

After check out we get home and haul the groceries inside. Its my job to put up the groceries and distribute munchies and crunchies. I do so quickly. I intend to call Tanya shortly. Just cause she's coming doesn't mean I don't want to talk to her now. No one calls us anyways.

Spoke to soon. Someone has called. Mom picks up the phone. It's Uncle Dill. He wants to talk to dad. Guess I'll wait my turn.

I used to be Uncle Dill's favorite. It was like he was the only one who thought of me first and worried for me. Ever since his now ex had a baby that baby has been his favorite. The child is 3 now.

He's actually my little brother. My uncle is infertile. Has been his entire life. But when his girlfriend suddenly had a baby and she named him after my uncle, out of fear mostly, my uncle fell for it. The paternity test the court ordered had high results, too. Cause my dad cheated with the drunk. I still remember being chastized when I was 15 for already having a son, we look that identical.

The boy looks like my dad, not my uncle. Anyways, only mom and I are fully aware of what happened. We even know when it occured. The dates matched up.

Oh well. Dill is a great dad to lil Dill. Better than my dad anyhow. Even when lil Dill pissed on Uncle Dill in the middle of the night.

Hm. I mentioned lil Dill's mom is afraid of Uncle Dill. I guess I'll explain that.

Uncle Dill is a womanizing drunk. He won't hold back if you piss him off, woman or not. And he has beat her before for sleeping around on him.

I know its wrong of him.. But I love my uncle so much since he cares about me. He's never hurt me. Except when lil Dill became his world. But that's understandable.

After Dad is off the phone with Uncle Dill it's declared lil Dill is coming over for a couple of nights. Uncle Dill must wanna hit the bar.

That's cool anyways. I love lil Dill visiting, too. He's adorable and funny. Quite the character. Everyones charmed by his boyish grin.

Its good we grocery shopped. He eats more than I do! He loves drinking water, too. And swimming. A model Sabbath. Truly.

Dad leaves to go get lil Dill and drop Uncle Dill where he wants to be. He's always drunk so he doesn't have a license.

I begin cooking dinner. Half way through, Dad returns with lil Dill. "lil Dill!" I exclaim as he charges into the house from the front door.

Emily comes out of our room as lil Dill throws himself in my waiting arms. Emily gives him a similar greeting and hugs him.

This child is adored. He starts telling us about daycare. He loves learning. The daycare has been working with him on a lot of pre K stuff.

I keep an eye on dinner while listening to the exuberant boy.

Idly, my mind pictures my future family. My children will look like lil Dill and have his zeal for life. Gorgeous blonde children with green or blue eyes. It'd even be ok if their hair was dark. Both my grandma's have black hair after all.

What would my partner look like? Tall, clearly. He'll need to atleast be able to reach the upper cabinets. His eyes? Blue? My father's angry ice blue eyes flash in my mind. Maybe not. Perhaps green. He'll be strong, too. And funny. We'll live a warm and happy life with our darling children...

Ah, dreams. I hope it comes true soon. It's all I want in life. Three children and someone to love me.

I turn my attention back to dinner and find its ready. I plate lil Dill's first and place it in the fridge to cool it faster. I wait five minutes before plating everyone elses food and serve lil Dill first.

Its a rule. Children first, then dad. Then mom. Me last.

Lil Dill eats with such amazement that it makes me think my Uncle doesnt cook well. Then again, he's 3 and will eat anything.

After dinner, I sneak off with the cordless phone to call Tanya. We talk about numerous things. Family, her visit, Night, Spirit world drama. Ect.

We're getting pretty fed up with Spirit world and demon world's bullshit. Its not like Night life. It can link together at times, though.

And this topic, my friends, deserves its own chapter.
