Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Let's Battle!

Sableye evolved into Mega Sableye just as the Raid Battle started. As a result, it gained a giant pink transparent gem-like stone, and hid behind it.

Seeing a Mega Evolution happen in the public eye, excitement appeared in their eyes. It was still new to each region, so I'm guessing this person was one of Professor Sycamore's recipients for the Mega Ring, just like I was. I am curious to see how many he actually delivered, I'm sure it wasn't just a few. I'm glad to see them being put into use now.

That thought ended real quick as this Trainer was the first of the five to announce their attacks.

"Sableye, use Dark Pulse!", the Trainer with the Sableye said, revealing his move.

"Sudowoodo, follow Sableye and strike Lugia with Rock Slide.", the second Trainer said.

"Corviknight, fly toward Lugia and use Steel Wing.", the third Trainer said, who likely hailed from Galar, seeing that he had a Corviknight.

"Garchomp, leap off from the ground and hit Lugia with Dragon Claw!", the fourth Trainer said.

"Bisharp, follow Garchomp and also jump. Strike Lugia hard with a Night Slash!", the final Trainer said.

Five consecutive attacks were revealed by the five Trainers. Dark Pulse, Rock Slide, Steel Wing, Dragon Claw and Night Slash. Five powerful moves. These guys were likely no slouches either.

Sableye used its hands, sending off a powerful wave of dark energy straight at Lugia. Unfortunately, Lugia was still in the air and gracefully dodged it, which sent the Dark Pulse further into the sky. Lugia dodged again the moment Rock Slide's stones tried to strike Lugia down. Dark Pulse and Rock Slide hit each other, creating a muffled boom.

Corviknight was the next to act, and its wings started to glow a bright white glow. It's fully body was made of steel plates, so it would hit rather hard should it connect with Steel Wing. It was quite bulky, but it effortlessly lifted up into the air as if the steel meant nothing to it. It flew fast, and aimed at Lugia straight on. Unfortunately, the moment Corviknight got close, every time it tried to swing its wings at Lugia to try and hit it, Lugia would dodge every Steel Wing.

But Corviknight wasn't alone. It was in a Raid Battle, so Garchomp took this time to speed off into the sky with a powerful leap. Garchomp tucked its fins in, arriving at Lugia in mere seconds. This speed caused Lugia to look right at Garchomp, who extended one of its fins out, only for its claw to start glowing. A green light made of dragon energy encompassed its claw, and Garchomp struck out. Bang!

Among the five Pokemon, Garchomp actually managed to land a blow on it, which excited the Trainers. Unfortunately for them though, the five Trainers saw the injury caused by Garchomp to be completely healed up by Lugia. The tear on its body vanished. Not only was Lugia very powerful, it had high healing capabilities, as shown here. It could regenerate injuries quite quickly through moves like Recover. A faint glow appeared over Lugia as its injury went away, making it good as new.

But they didn't stay idle. Bisharp took this time to leap up, using the momentum. Bisharp's own claws started to glow in a dark color, signaling it using Night Slash. This move specifically has a high chance to land its blow as a critical hit, which would cause more damage. Bisharp saw Garchomp descending. Garchomp noticed Bisharp jumping up right at it, so Garchomp used its fins to propel Bisharp forward.

Lugia saw Bisharp heading right it at, so it decided to take Bisharp head on. Bisharp swung out hard, striking against Lugia's large body, which earned a couple more hits in. Lugia flinched as one of its attacks landed as a critical hit. A couple of slashes appeared on Lugia's body.

As a result, Lugia roared out, causing everyone to flinch. Lugia's roar was quite loud, even reaching here. As the five Pokemon tried to recover themselves,, we saw Lugia suck in. Opening its mouth, it launched a powerful airstream, blasting right into every Pokemon these five Trainers had. Mega Sableye tried to use its shield to cover Sudowoodo, but they too got blasted away, getting hit right into their Trainers' arms. This move was Lugia's signature move, Aeroblast.

The five Pokemon got hit hard by Lugia's Aeroblast, creating a large distance between them. They couldn't even recover before we saw Lugia flap its wings, soaring back into the sky.

'So that ended the Raid Battle huh? As expected of Lugia. Even several Pokemon at once it can do so much. Lugia does so well battling in the air. But I wonder, Lugia is known as the Guardian of the Sea, does it battle even better while underwater?', I wondered to myself.

As I did, the Trainers that just challenged it now became a bit dejected, but they were thankful for getting the chance to battle Lugia. Lugia speed along the water, heading toward the left side of the port. Wait...that's where Goh and I are right now. After blinking for a moment, we saw Lugia coming right at us. Thankfully the Trainers here were more scarce, as most of them gathered in the middle area of the port.

Still, I acted quickly.

"Goh, snap out of it. Lugia is coming over here!", I said, speaking out to Goh who was dazed by watching the finished battling.

"E-Ehhhhh?", Goh responded in back in surprise, only to realize Lugia was soaring right toward us.

"Goh, you should probably step aside. You don't have a Pokemon to battle Lugia, right?", I asked him.

Turning his head back at me, he blinked for a moment.

"That's right. Wait....don't tell me you are going to battle Lugia too!? Those other Trainers couldn't do much even with those powerful Pokemon!", Goh yelled back in surprise again.

"That's the plan. I don't think I'm the only one who is going to try this time though.", I answered back, which caused some confusion to appear in Goh's eyes.

"Hahaha, so ya could tell right away, kid? Mind if I join ya? There's no way I wouldn't miss a chance to battle against a Pokemon like Lugia on my home turf, even if it might just be for a mere moment.", A voice said, calling out to us. It didn't take long before a towering figure approached us.

"It is you after all, Lieutenant Surge. Glad you could join us.", I answered, seeing the tall Lieutenant Surge in front of us.

"This...the Gym Leader of Vermillion City?", Goh said, looking at Lieutenant Surge.

"Ya might want to step aside. Lugia is fast approaching.", Lieutenant Surge said to Goh.

"Right!", Goh acknowledged. He then retreated further behind us.

"Just to say something, I plan to use a certain move. Make sure your Raichu doesn't get hit by it.", I said to Lieutenant Surge.

"Of course. So this is ya main partner huh? This Ninetales is quite big."

"Nine!", Ninetales yelled out happily.

I only smiled back at him.

"Come on out, Raichu!", Lieutenant Surge said, showing a fully recovered Raichu. I nodded seeing this, and seeing Raichu appear earned some cheers.

In the next moment, Lugia arrived at the left side of the port, arriving right in front of us.

The onlookers got excited seeing the Vermillion City Gym Leader enter the fray, so they backed away to give us some room.

Lugia was now in front of us, flapping it's wings. A smile appeared on my face.

"Lugia, let's battle.", I announced.
