Chapter 122: Hannah Is Staying With Us

After the disaster at Hannah's birthday party, she asked me if it was okay for her to live with Ulysses and me. Of course, I said yes, but I'm a little worried about the two. Young adults are living under the same roof who've had sex... It'll lead to some complications...
Both Ulysses and Hannah are responsible, and I have no doubt anything truly bad will happen. But they might not be able to keep their hands off each other. And I don't want to be around that.
Seeing them all the time like that makes me a little jealous. It's been a long time since I've even been on a date, let alone had a romp in the sheets. It might be time for me to go out there and find myself a man. I'm still young and attractive.
"Ellie! Do you know where I put my car keys!? I could've sworn I left them on my nightstand, but they're not here!"
The girl that's living in our home hasn't been sleeping in her own bed since she started staying here. And I'll admit I've grown fond of having another woman in the house.
"Sorry, sweetie! I haven't seen your car keys!!"
She's supposed to meet Ulysses at the park today. He got up at the usual time of 5:30 AM and left to practice.
With the 2026 NBA Draft picks tomorrow, Ulysses has been trying to clear his head. He'll basically be learning where he'll be drafted. Even though it's The Draft to figure out which teams get which pick, everyone knows that whoever gets the first pick is taking Ulysses.
"Nevermind! I found them!!"
She comes downstairs, and she's in some pajamas. Hannah and Ulysses have been sleeping together since she got here, and while I don't mind. It's embarrassing having to remind them the walls are thin.
"So, has Ulysses talked to you about how he feels regarding tomorrow? His entire life will be changing, and so will yours... Along with mine..."
My question doesn't bother Hannah. We've talked a lot about Ulysses's future and hers. As well as mine. Ulysses says when he gets his NBA money, he's buying a home in the place he's drafted and moving us there. He offered to buy me my own home, but I decided not to.
While living in my own home sounds good, Ulysses will hardly be there anyways. Hannah and me will pretty much be the ones holding down the fort while he's all over America and the world.
"We've talked about it. But he's trying to keep his mind off it. All the media surrounding tomorrow hasn't been helping. We've found a way to relax, though."
Yeah, I know. I can hear it through the thin walls.
But that's not something to bring up now.
"Have you talked to your parents since the party?"
This has been a sore spot for Hannah, and I get it. When you have parents like hers, things can get really tense and difficult. But she handled it pretty well. It helps she has a great boyfriend in my son, but she needs to talk to them. She can't ignore them for the rest of her life.
"It's not that easy, Ellie... Not after leaving the way I did, and not after Ulysses knocked out my Dad... I know that if my Dad sees him again, he'll freak out..."
I'm not a fan of the girl's Father. The way he attacked Ulysses out of the blue like that... It made me want to hit his unconscious face a few times. But Ulysses handled it like a man. He even gave the man a chance to stop.
"Well, let me know if you come to a decision. Besides, shouldn't you be getting to Ulysses by now?"
Realization hits her, and she darts out the door with her keys in her hand. Phone jumping around in the pocket of her pajamas.

Tomorrow is the day I learn where I'll be playing and living for the next 4 years... I'm excited and nervous... Not from how I'll perform in the NBA, but how the league will adjust to me. I'll be destroying the balance it has.
I turn at the sound of Hannah's car and see her park outside the fence. She's right on time.
