"Heh, bet I could find one of these by my ex's house... AHEM, I'll take that deal!" Dust threw the Dusk Stone to Jayden, who caught it, then grinned, spitting what acid he had by Dust's feet.

Before Old J left, he yelled to the trio, "If I ever see you again, you're dead!" Then he disappeared around the corner.

Dust and Chiki were both down to the very bottom of their energy reserves, and Xena's Mud-Slap couldn't beat out Muddy Water, so to ensure their survival, a crappy Dusk Stone was worth it.

The only problem was why Jayden had wanted it.

What was more important to Dust now was the impossible levels of pain he felt, adrenaline from the battle fading out.

"We need to go to the hospital, report, and sell these pokemon! Come on, let's get out of here!"

Dust led the group to the nearest exit, climbing out into the street before Chiki blacked out.

With just enough energy to Observe one thing about Chiki, Dust looked to his partner.

"Shit, Xena, return." He put his Grimer in her Pokeball before charging toward the center of town where the league was.

As he ran by the gate, he tripped, slamming his face into the pavement. A guard ran up with a gun, but Dust had already pulled out his Trainer ID and League Membership Cards, before standing up and running into the hospital.

Quickly, Dust explained to the receptionist what the problem was before passing out, having fully exhausted his energy, both in the sense of his mana and mental fortitude.

Two days later, he woke up feeling fully refreshed! As if...

Dust whimpered as he tried to sit up, to no avail. He heard a pop that he probably shouldn't have made before nearly passing out again from the pain.

A doctor came running in followed by a Chansey holding a green egg. "Wh-W-t h-p-n-d?"

"What happened? My boy, you barely survived, coming in critical condition holding a Paras that was also in critical condition. Both of you are still barely alive. Our Chansey can't heal you until both of you gain more energy as healing relies on both you and the healer.

"C-n I s- -im?'

The doctor shook his head. "While you are stable, your pokemon is not. We just finished removing the poison from him. However, your Grimer has been wanting to see you. I should warn you, to pay for your injuries, we have taken most of the pokemon you have captured as payment.

Your personal effects are untouched, excluding your spiked chain, which is not allowed in the hospital.

By the way, I recommend hiding your items better. A thief could have pickpocketed your purple gem easily where you had placed it."

The doctor waved to the door, which opened to reveal Xena and a nurse. "I have more patients. Excuse me."

As the doctor and nurse allowed Xena inside and left, she squirmed forward awkwardly.

The two stared at each other for a little while before Xena coughed and spoke up, "So, I've been thinking about it. I'm sorry I didn't warn you about Jayden. I was wrong, but you were the only one who could beat him. Everyone else who comes down to the sewer is way weaker than us."

Her words triggered a memory in Dust's mind from the "Dust before reincarnation"'s memory. Most trainers in this world barely made it to Rank 3 before dying. The missions in the sewers were for starting trainers, usually between levels 1-5.

That was the first bottleneck for pokemon, reaching level 5. And, as most trainers got their pokemon as eggs, reaching Dust and Chiki's level that quickly was nearly unheard of, apart from a specific rare variant that could be found in every kind of pokemon. However, Chiki was not one of these variants, thus it was a bit odd for such a high level up speed.

Though, however it happened that Chiki made it to level five by two months old, he would have to make it through the next bottleneck at level 19 soon enough, providing the first level up challenge.

Dust, as a human(?), didn't have the same bottleneck. His levelling speed was innately lower than a pokemon's, but his high energy capacity meant he could fight at a higher level than he should, and thus he also leveled up quickly.

The other reason he wanted to visit Chiki was to Observe him, as his party had to have all leveled up at least twice after the sewers. However, that would have to wait.

"I don't mind that much, Xena. After all, you have one hell of a treasure. Not to mention, I want you on my team." Dust grinned while chuckling to himself. 'Of course, I don't feel the same kinship with you as I do with Chiki. You just have a high potential.'

The Grimer teared up as she bent down. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" She was nearly a puddle. "Everyone in the sewer always hated me because I made everything smell different, so I had to take a small room in the back of an uninhabited zone! But you would take me in! Thank you!"

Dust smiled while biting his cheek. 'Don't make me start feeling bad for you now...'

"Of course!" He tried to give her a thumbs up, but heard a tearing sound before seeing red and passing out again.

"DUST?!"

Another two days passed before Dust woke up again, this time his arm was back on without any stitches. The skin in the area was a sickly grey, inexplicably, and the boy really didn't know what that meant.

Xena was sleeping in a... fish tank next to him, and there were no doctors or nurses running to him either, unlike last time.

Dust felt over his body, able to move with little to no pain. Ripping the wires and modern medical technology from his body, a couple of small wounds opened that he easily ignored.

As he sneaked out of bed, trying not to wake Xena, he decided to Observe her and himself then find Chiki to do the same.

His group was more powerful by the day, but when Dust considered how easily he was almost taken out by just a Rank 1 Grimer, he couldn't help but feel like the depth of this world's power was reminiscent of Dragon Ball's.

He had gained a ton of XP with Chiki from all of the weak Grimers in Zones 20-22, and Xena got some from the weak Grimers in Areas 23-24. Dust was the only one to cross his wall as he had fought in every battle, exhausting an energy pool bigger than most Commanders in the army.

Most trainers didn't train as hard as Dust did unless they were in the military.

This is because there was no pokemon battle sport. It was life or death in this world, not gym battling. Political power also went to the strongest, but the average human didn't have the mental fortitude to train so brutally. Of course, now that Dust had crossed his first bottleneck, level-ups would be way harder from there on out, especially reaching Rank 2, as well as 'Star-Ups'.

Not to mention he didn't know what stronger pokemons' potentials looked like. Of course, having over 5 was extremely rare, only around ten of the hundreds of pokemon he had seen having such.

'But what would a one-in-a-billion pokemon's potential be? 20? 50? 100? I couldn't even see the depth of the potential of the Marshadow I saw in the forest. And that old guy, the mayor. What the hell are those crazy guys? This is one of the ten largest cities in Kanto, but Kanto is still only one of the top 5 strongest nations? The number of monsters in this world...'

Dust felt his face for a moment before he continued his thoughts to find a terrifying grin plastered on it.

'I can't fuckin' wait!'

Heading out of the room and downstairs, Dust went to the same receptionist as last time, asking for the location of Chiki and telling her to ensure nobody enters his room.

Carefully, he slipped into his Paras' dark room. "Yo, Chiki. You awake in here?"

There was no reply, not even the light click Chiki made when he woke up. "Chiki?" Dust checked the bed. Nothing. "Chiki?" The darkness of the room was suffocating.

"The way they didn't even let me see him through the window last time... Could it be?"

Dust ran out into the hall, shoving doctors out of the way. Following the signs in the high tech hospital, he plowed into the security room.

Finding it completely uninhabited, he ruffled through security tape records until he got to the day he arrived in the hospital, watching Chiki's room's footage. Sure enough, there it was at 11:30 pm that night. An official in a black suit came in and put Chiki in a metal cage after sedating them.

"Interesting. Hehehe."

Boom.

"I'LL FUCKING KILL YOUUUUUU!"

Dust sent out a massive pulse of energy, completely destroying the room.

Mid-Moves: Energy Pulse (1⭐)

He stomped out, the face of the official burnt seared into his eyeballs. A guard ran up to him. "Freeze, give yourself up! You are under arrest for destruction of government property and using an attack inside a hospital! Hands over you-BOOF!"

Dust used 8% of his energy in one step to move at insane speeds behind the guard before slamming his fist into the back of the guard's neck. "Should have known you corrupt government bastards would do something to the prince of a pokemon nation..."

Blood, bits of bone, and grey matter splashed all over the wall.

"Couple of weeks in and already at odds with a corrupt government. Well, that's kind of my niche, I guess." At that moment, Xena fell from the ceiling.

"Jayden taught me how to do that. You sure you wanna do this, man?" She questioned him, staring into his eyes.

"I get a distinct feeling it's too late to change my mind now." The bloodlust of the human was incredible, so much so that Xena, who lived in sewers where death was a daily sight, was repulsed.

A voice resounded from behind. "Well, it probably should be too late, but that was technically a spy from Johto. So I suppose I could let it pass."

"Finch."

"Dust."

The mayor and reincarnator stared at each other for a few moments, before Dust growled. "Don't use your ability on me, and we can have a nice conversation."
