Chapter 32: Philosopher's stone
21st of April,1991,
Sunday Morning.
'When I cast Latin spells, it feels like my wand is resisting, but when I cast in Parseltongue, it is as if it feels natural' Anthony mumbled in his mouth in the Room of requirements.
During the past few months, Anthony improved his timing of spells and his tempo in a duel. Aimlessly casting several spells is ineffective than one perfect timed spell.
In the room of requirements, several dummies were torn apart by various spells including Diffindo and Reducto. Anthony's diffindo spell can sever a dummy's waist as if cutting butter at the moment.
'In a short time, I need to obtain the Philosopher's stone flawlessly, otherwise, I can't help Daphne' thought to himself and swiped his sweat over his face and got out from the Room of Requirements.
When Anthony returned to the Great Hall for lunch, Harry Potter and Daphne greeted him.
"Anthony, where were you? Did you hear? The keeper of keys and grounds of Hogwarts, Hagrid was sent to St.Mungo's this morning!" said Harry.
"Hagrid was sent to St.Mungos? But what happened?" Anthony becomes curious.
"He was attacked at the Forbidden forest by some unknown dark wizard. Hogwarts is on high alert at the moment. Because the curse is an unforgivable curse named Crucio, Hagrid got into a coma and couldn't wake up. All students are forbidden to leave Hogwarts castle right now" Daphne replied.
'If Hagrid is in Coma, then Voldemort should be in a hurry. Did destroying the Diadem's Horcrux affected him badly so that he couldn't wait anymore?' Anthony was thinking.
When Anthony saw the headmaster's chair, and it was empty.
"Where did Headmaster go, is he not at Hogwarts?" said Anthony
"The Slytherin students said something like he went to International Wizarding Congress, he should be away at the moment," said Daphne.
'Oh Merlin, Voldemort attacking Hagrid and Albus Dumbledore going out from Hogwarts at the same time means that the Philosopher's stone is vulnerable at the moment. If I use Harry, to claim the stone today, the Philosopher's stone can get into my hands' thought, Anthony.
"Harry, Daphne today we need to go to the third-floor corridor and stop a thief from stealing the Philosopher's stone," said Anthony.
"Someone is going to steal the Philosopher's stone? But who?" asked Harry in a confused voice.
"It is not important that who is going to steal it, but we need to stop him" said Anthony.

On the night after the curfew, Anthony, Daphne, and Harry went into the third-floor corridor under the cloak of invisibility. They have entered the door to the three-headed dog.
What was waiting for them is that a crippled and dead three-headed dog.
'Several reducto curses were sent to Fluffy. Indeed Voldemort is a bit in a hurry.' thought Anthony.
'If Voldemort was not in a hurry, perhaps he wouldn't use Crucio to torment Hagrid and instead use the Dragon egg in order to catch the weakness of Fluffy from Hagrid.'
When he saw the face of Harry and Daphne they were utterly disgusted as if almost puking.
"Who could do this terrible job? The poor dog!" said Daphne.
"Seconded, even though the dog is massive and big, I don't think it should have died in this way," said Harry
"Okay, let's stop the thief from stealing the Philosopher's stone! We need to hurry. Since the thief already passed the Three-headed dog, perhaps he is near to accomplish his goal." said Anthony with an urging voice.
The three friends went to the door next to the massive corpse.
"Shall we jump? What do you think is underneath the door?" asked Harry.
"Guys, don't be afraid let me jump first." Anthony jumped and fell on a slimy green vine.
"Anthony, are you alright?" asked Harry.
"Yes, guys jump down and come" said Anthony.
When Harry and Daphne jumped down, they fell on the green vine as well.
"Lumos Maxima" casted Anthony and the slimy green vine retracted itself and let the friends fell down.

In the next room, there were several keys that fly in the air, But one particular key of course had a damaged wing and was flying with a difficulty.
"What is this room, why are here one broom and several keys?" said Daphne and reached near the locked door.
"Alohomora!" said Daphne, but to no avail, the door didn't open.
"Strange, I think I need to ride this broom to get the key," said Harry Potter.
"Then Harry you need to ride this broom, but what is strange about this?" asked Daphne.
"It's too easy," said Harry.
Anthony who is urging to get the Philosopher's stone has become irritated on his friends and the original canon plot.
So he reached near the door and pointed his wand to the door and casted
"Reducto!" and the door was blasted into dust.
"What! Anthony, what curse was that?" Harry and Daphne said in unison. Their faces were utterly amazed and looked priceless.
"An advanced curse you will learn on the fourth year. Anyway, guys let's move on!" said Anthony, and they went into the next room.
In the next room, there were some pieces of chess on a chessboard. When they reached, Anthony used the Reducto curse several times and destroyed the chess pieces.
"Such a useful spell, Reducto right?" said Harry.
"I will ask my father whether he can teach me this spell during the summer vacation," said Daphne.
"If you don't know the correct way, just use brute force! And Reducto is the best brute force spell only second to Bombarda"
After getting to the next door there were some potions and a black flame curtain nex to the door.
"There are several potions, but I think only one is the right potion to drink," Daphne said.
"Don't worry, I have some fire protection potions prepared for this." Anthony took out two fire protection potions and gave one to Harry.
"But there are only two, what should I do?" asked Daphne.
"Daphne, just stay here. If something happens, notify Deputy Headmistress McGonnagal," said Anthony.
"Anthony, are you sure you want to go to the next room with me?" asked Harry.
"Yes, you need some help. But Harry, I think you need to lend me your cloak of invisibility for a while," said Anthony taking Harry's cloak.
Harry and Anthony drank the fire protection potions and entered the next room.
Professor Quirrel was looking at the Mirror of Erised with a contemplating face. When someone entered the room, he became afraid it is Albus Dumbledore, but seeing it was only Harry Potter, he become relaxed.
"It was you after all!" gasped Harry. Quirrell smiled. His face wasn't twitching at all.
"Me," he said calmly. "I wondered whether I'd be meeting you here,
Potter."
"But I thought — Voldemort —"
"Voldemort?" Quirrell laughed, and it wasn't his usual quivering treble,
either, but cold and sharp. "Yes, you have guessed right. It is I and my master who is here"
Harry couldn't take it in. What does it mean by him and his master?
"There is no more time left. What a waste of time, I'm going to kill you tonight."
Quirrell snapped his fingers. Ropes sprang out of thin air and wrapped
themselves tightly around Harry.
"You're too nosy to live, Potter. Scurrying around the school on
Halloween like that, with Anthony Dumbledore and Daphne Greengrass. You have ruined my plan once. But now, wait quietly, Potter. I need to examine this interesting mirror."
It was only then that Harry realized what was standing behind Quirrell there was a mirror.
"This mirror is the key to finding the Stone," Quirrell murmured, tapping
his way around the frame. "Trust Dumbledore to come up with something like
this…but he's in New York…I'll be far away by the time he gets back…"
All Harry could think of doing was to keep Quirrell talking and stop him
from concentrating on the mirror. Harry was looking around whether Anthony was still in the room.
"I see the Stone…I'm presenting it to my master…but where is it?"
Harry struggled against the ropes binding him, but they didn't give. He
had to keep Quirrell from giving his whole attention to the mirror.
"Use the boy!" said Voldemort in a hoarse voice.
"Potter!" said Quirrel and summoned Harry Potter next to him. The robe that was binding him was released.
Anthony who was inside the cloak of invisibility was looking at the Mirror of Erised at the same with Harry Potter.
A man who put his foot on top of a dark human creature could be seen.
'Is that Death? My with is to overcome death? Just like Voldemort, I want to overcome death?' Anthony becomes confused. He always wanted to achieve great things like becoming influential and powerful. He thought maybe the International Wizarding Congress President could be his deep inner desire. But it is victory over Death.
When Anthony saw Harry Potter, he was holding his pocket as if something is inside his pocket.
When Quirrel noticed that Harry was holding something
'The Boy has the stone, Let me talk to the boy!' said Voldemort.
"But master.." Quirrel tried to retribute but Voldemort screamed "Just do it!"
Soon Quirrel turned his back to Harry Potter and unwrapped his turban. Soon the distorting face of Voldemort could be seen.
Just as when Voldemort took out his face, Anthony under the cloak of invisibility was opening his purse and took out his briefcase with the Basilisk in it.
But something unexpected happened and Daphne Greengrass entered the room.
"Master, there is Anthony Dumbledore here under an invisibility cloak! Be careful" screamed Daphne alerting Voldemort.
"Anthony?" Voldemort becomes surprised.
"You betrayed us?" Harry screamed pointing his index finger to Daphne.
"I never betrayed you guys! My father David Greengrass asked me to help Professor Quirrel during the school year and accept all of his personal requests. He asked me to distract you guys and try my best to make you guys occupied and observe." said Daphne with a stern face.
When Anthony heard that Daphne Greengrass was never his true friend, his heart speculation got proved. When Daphne Greengrass got near to Anthony and Harry Potter, Anthony was a bit suspicious. It is because the Potion of Invisibility is has a moderate long brewing time and a lot of steps. Ordinary first-year students may take a whole year to concoct the potion.
And for Daphne, who is an heir to a wealthy Greengrass family, she just could have purchased a potion from the Diagon Alley, why brewing herself. Anthony always assumed that she is having a hidden agenda. He believed that Daphne's father David Greengrass could have given her instruction for make them busy and not focus on the
'Such a shame that it's true?' thought Anthony and removed the cloak of invisibility. He sighed deeply and put his briefcase under the cloak of invisibility.
"Good, I will reward your father after this," said Voldemort.
"You traitor! We believed in you Daphne!" said Harry Potter in an angry voice. He also felt betrayed.
"Harry, Anthony, your lives are in my palm! If you follow me just like your friend, you can live happily. I can give you everything you want. Harry, I can revive your parents. Anthony, you can live with your parents again as well!" said Voldemort with a persuasive tone.
"Harry, you just have to give me the stone!" said Voldemort stretching his hand.
"Harry never give him the stone! And close your eyes right now!" said Anthony.
When Harry heard Anthony, he becomes confused but trusted Anthony and closed his eyes.
sss'Attack Voldemort and the Girl. Kill them! The boy with the glasses is my friend.'sss said Anthony in parseltongue and opened his briefcase.
A 25 foot long basilisk was sliding out from the briefcase and saw his surrounding. An old distorted figure and a girl with Anthony and Harry Potter could be seen.
sss'Tom Riddle!'sss said the Basilisk with a disgusted tone.
sss"This makes things easier. Slytherin Serpent kill those boys and serve the Great Salazar Slytherin. They are mudbloods"sss said Voldemort with a delighted tone. He shifted his gaze away from the Basilisk.
But Daphne Greengrass who saw the Basilisk for the first time in reality gazed through the eyes of the Basilisk and died on the spot.
Harry Potter could understand the speech of Parseltongue and asked him.
sss'Anthony, are you sure? Voldemort seems to control the beast you have!'sss said, Harry.
Anthony saw Daphne dying by the gaze of Basilisk. His heart was feeling itched. But he endured.
sss'Don't use your gaze on Tom Riddle! Use your venom, finish him off!'sss said Anthony.
When the Basilisk heard Anthony's instruction, the Basilisk glided towards Voldemort at a fast pace.
sss'Impossible! I am the heir of Slytherin! Don't attack me! I am Lord Voldemort! He is a mudblood attack him!'sss said Voldemort but the Basilisk doesn't seem to listen to him.
sss'You blood traitor! I will deal with you then.'sss said Voldemort in a hoarse tone and used Avada Kedavra to the Basilisk avoiding its gaze.
"Aveda Kedavra," said Voldemort trying to kill the Basilisk
But since Basilisk skin is magic resistible and was evolved from dark green to pitch black, the killing curse damaged the vitality of the Basilisk but was not fatal.
The basilisk used his fang to bite Voldemort and Quirrel's waist. Voldemort screamed immediately and his face become black mist and evaporated from back of Quirrel's head.
When Harry Potter heard Voldemort's screaming he become curious and wanted to open his eyes.
sss'Buddy, close your eyes!'sss said, Anthony.
The Basilisk closed his eyes and said sss'Thank you! I got my revenge. Even though it is only one of his souls. I had a delightful feeling.'sss said the Basilisk.
After Anthony put the Basilisk back into the briefcase, Anthony said in a apologing voice.
"Sorry Harry! But this is something you need to forget. Obliviate!" casted Anthony to Harry Potter.
In the deepest part of Third coridor, two dead bodies, one unconscious body could be seen.
Anthony on the other hand reached Harry Potter's pocket and took out the Philosopher's stone.
