Chapter 21: Lord Hyuga
As Lord Hyuga walked besides Lord Senju, he simply looked like someone who'd lost his soul.
Today really was not his day. He never really had any intention of completing the agreement as it was written. In his eyes a lowly branch family member would be useless no matter how much of a medical genius they claimed him to be.
It was the child of that ambitious woman Hiyori. He was more than aware of what she had done to the boy, the daily torture was apparently so cruel she almost caused the branch family to revolt. He personally had to make a move and remind them of their place. Such a child naturally could not amount to much, his son would be a much better groom.
In his plan he would send his heir to the academy to befriend the boy known as Senju Nawaki. Slowly they would manipulate that boy to make the marriage of lady Tsunade to Hiashi possible. How could his son not stand out more to the Senju than some random brat. Removing the seal cost quite the price and as opposed to having to pay it for an unworthy groom, why would the Senju not instead save themselves the trouble and just change the groom.
With that plan in mind he sent his son to the academy, something the main family hadn't done in a long time. He believed this plan was foolproof. He would be known as the patriarch that absorbed the Senju clan.
The heavens make fools of us all though.
To think even though he sent his son to make a friend, he would instead insult the Senju boy by besmirching his sisters honor. The branch child he thought nothing of turned out to be genius without equal. The cursed seal he would use to make the boy step aside if all else failed had already been removed.
Everything that could go wrong had gone wrong. Even now he never thought the Senju would pay the price required to remove the seal, then again with the boys talent why wouldn't they.
Now he had to deal with breaking the news he sold of that cheap woman, when he originally thought in the end he wouldn't have to. Hikaru would certainly never agree. He couldn't rescind the wedding arrangements either. The Senju would definitely not let their hooks out of that child, and the child would naturally not leave them either. He surely hated the clan to his core.
This really was not his day.
In his mindless trance he had arrived in the Senju compound. Now sitting in front of the Senju patriarch he knew he had been played. What he saw as nothing but a dumb oaf turned out to be a cunning viper.
"I'm sure you have issue with me saying I will allow Tsunade and Ren out of the village but worry not the new seal is just as effective as the previous one."
" By creating a new seal you are not only making a new branch family but one completely separate from the Main family. This is not something I am willing to allow Lord Senju."
" Allowing Tsunade to keep the Senju name and giving our name to Ren, already created a Senju branch in the Hyuga clan. Naturally it should not be the same as the Hyuga main family. This is what you've already agreed to Lord Hyuga."
" I never agreed to have a new seal created!"
" How else would the Senju line distinguish itself from the Hyuga main family? Not to mention you've already accepted the dowry. Surely the honorable Hyuga clan would not try to scam my Senju clan right?"
(The bloodlust in the room became palpable.)
This bastard no wonder he sent such a lavish dowry. I thought it was just a ploy for the Byakugan but it seems the boy is really what they coveted. I was playing a game without knowing the prize, maybe I really will just have to accept my loss today.
"Very well then we are family now. So I will accept things how they are, but I have to ask how has that boy reached such a level? Is it a secret jutsu of the Senju?"
"No he naturally had those reserves. He acquired the flying thunder god on his own while training with Tsunade. As for his other jutsu, we only provided him my uncles water jutsu scroll. You're more than welcome to it. Several copies are already in the academy library."
"You are saying he had no external help? Are his abilities really so exaggerated?"
"Theirs a reason we claim he's the second coming of my uncle. Neither I nor Hiruzen can use the flying thunder god technique and we've made multiple attempts to have others learn. If I remember correctly including you."
He's definitely not lying to me. Or so it seems. To think I created such a genius in attempt to punish that woman. He was meant to be of the main family after all, so his talent is only natural. Should I have actually married that annoying woman? No. If what happened to the boy after his birth is any indication, I made the right choice.
I must make Hikaru give up on that woman, this boy has to be integrated back into the clan. His value is far above even my highest estimates. Everything he's achieved, he's achieved on his own talent. The other elders will surely agree even if Hikaru doesn't.
" Hmm how long did the boy train for such a result?"
" He trains every single day until it's time to either eat or sleep for the past two years. Without the family asking to spend time with him or his basic needs, he'd likely train endlessly."
"A hardworking genius. Definitely someone who will go far in life. How does lady Tsunade feel about the boy?"
"They've grown close. She would marry him tomorrow had we not already agreed to the terms."
Liar. With such an age gap there's no way that would be true. You can't blame me for trying though Kenzo. If I was to marry such a genius to a lady of the main house they would surely produce strong offspring. The boys young though maybe I could have him do it anyways.
"Such great news. Unfortunately the boys father has passed. So I will stand in his place to help facilitate this wedding. Shall we begin?"
The two older men could only get more and more elaborate with the plans until Mira walked in and told them to shut up. She largely took over and made sure to incorporate the traditions of the Hyuga. So it was that by the end of the night Tsunade and Rens wedding arrangements were finally decided.
