Chapter 29: Grand Vision
Gaofeng almost couldn't wait to pop each and everyone of these pills, but there was something he should accomplish first. Namely, breaking through to the qi-refining realm. When Gaofeng reached the qi-refining realm, he would get greater harvests from this assortment of pills, and so he would not waste these treasures carelessly.
There were, however, one item he could make great use of. This was the Invigorating Meditation Mat. Gaofeng summoned it from the spacial pouch, and it appeared in his hand as soon as he finished the thought. When he rolled the mat out on the wooden floor, he could truly see that this was a treasure, and this became all the more obvious when he actually sat down on it.
The instant his behind touched the mat, he felt as if his entire mind, body, and spirit was lifted, and an intense bout of concentration washed over him. Gaofeng felt that utilizing this mat he would be able to achieve breakthroughs far easier. Another effect of the mat which he soon noticed, was that when he utilized the Divine Myriad Changes to absorb the atmospheric qi, the mat acted as formation which gathered and purified the surrounding qi before funneling it towards Gaofeng.
This was akin to a great Transcendence realm cultivator simply grabbing the qi in an area and feeding it to his descendant. Such effects might not be too great at the transcendence realm itself, but before that it was greatly beneficial. It also meant that Gaofeng's future cultivation would be far smoother than other youths who could only rely on their absorption speed with the addition of some pills and perhaps the occasional usage of special qi-gathering formations if they had a decent background.
Naturally, the Shangsheng family had access to such resources, but formations on this level wouldn't be squandered on a mere body-strengthening junior. Thus, Gaofeng's resources at the moment could be said to be akin to that of a great elder of the Shangsheng clan, and with his far lower cultivation realm he would benefit far more from this compared to those old fogies.
Once this qi started rushing towards Gaofeng, he decisively initiated his breakthrough to the qi-refining stage. The way to enter the qi-refining stage wasn't too complicated, although the process with which he would enter the qi-refining stage was quite different from that of regular cultivators.
The way the Divine Myriad Changes technique worked, at least at this stage, was to absorb the surrounding qi into his body, refine it in his heart, for so that the refined qi traveled down to his dantian. His gigantic meridians naturally also helped transport massive amounts of energy, but the energy he could absorb purely with his cultivation base was far less than what he would be able to by utilizing his powerful physique and thus it wasn't prioritized.
The fact that the mat purified the qi before it entered his body saved Gaofeng a massive amount of time, as what he knew he had to spend most of his time on was purifying the low-quality qi to the far superior Yin and Yang qi through his physique. This effect made it so that the purified qi merely needed some slight alteration and acclimation to Gaofeng's physique before it could more easily be transformed into pure Yin and Yang qi in his dantian.
When the Yin and Yang qi entered his dantian area, Gaofeng activated the method to truly open his dantian. He would need a large surge of energy all at once to forcibly break open his dantian, especially due to his great talent. Due to the natural advantages of great talent, there were also some disadvantages. One of the greatest disadvantages was that those with too great talent had great difficulties opening their dantians initially, meaning that if they didn't have the resources available, they would never be able to truly step onto the path of qi cultivation and instead had to solely depend on body-cultivation and their soul.
Gaofeng wasn't too worried however, as the Yin and Yang qi was of a very high grade, and there was also the consistent 7% of completely merged Yin and Yang qi. The rest of the Yin and Yang qi was still intermingled, but not completely merged. When this refined qi arrived at the spot of Gaofeng's dantian, it started to dig into the, until now, dormant dantian. The dormant dantian could be described as a door locked from the inside, and only by force could one destroy the door and seize whatever one found inside.
As Gaofeng observed the completely merged Yin and Yang qi with his soul, he found that it could be described as Primal. This force was immense, and carried with great unrelenting fury and violence, while also seeming to have a sense of carefreeness and benevolence of a simple but good life. In that moment, Gaofeng named the merged force "Primal Qi" due to these associations and considered it a completely new force rather than simply the product of Yin and Yang.
The Primal Qi acted as a spearhead, and the rest of the intermingled Yin and Yang qi acted as the shaft, as Gaofeng's refined energy ceaselessly attacked the "door" of his dantian. As more and more refined qi gathered in his dantian, the attacks became fiercer and fiercer until cracks appeared on the surface of his dantian.
Gaofeng's dantian before this point could be described as an empty space divided from the rest of his body by a barrier created by the heavenly dao, but at this point Gaofeng was actually breaking apart this barrier with ease. Honestly, it would be difficult for Gaofeng not to thoroughly destroy this barrier, as his achievement of the 11th stage of the body-strengthening stage complimented by his physique made his energy incomparably refined for his relatively low cultivation realm.
After another minute, the entire barrier had already completely disintegrated, and the fragments of the heavenly dao had thoroughly been absorbed by Gaofeng's internal qi. After the barrier was destroyed, Gaofeng began revolving his internal qi following the Divine Myriad Changes to the smallest details, and a slowly revolving swirl of qi emerged.
This swirl centered around Gaofeng's Primal qi. His Yin and Yang qi intermingled and revolved around the Primal qi. As he continued absorbing the atmospheric qi, the Yin and Yang qi surrounding the Primal qi grew more abundant, until his dantian had reached more than ten times the initial amount. The amount of Primal qi in his dantian also increased in relation to the entirety of his dantian's energy, remaining at a steady 7%.
Gaofeng was filled with glee as he thought about what kind of power he would be able to utilize when his dantian had completely transformed into Primal qi. He imagined himself sitting on the throne of the Clan Leader of the entire Shangsheng Clan, and what a beautiful vision it was. From a young age, he had always been raised by his father with the greatest expectation for him to dominate the others in the clan and claim the seat of the Clan Leader, and he was currently seeing the path to this throne. It was still immaterial, but only barely.
He felt as if he only would need time to truly reach that point, however he didn't want to cultivate quietly in a silent room. Where would the fun in that be? No, Gaofeng would rise through his experiences in the Martial World. He would need great tribulations and opportunities to truly ascend to the peak of cultivation, as merely being the Clan Leader of the Shangsheng clan couldn't even come close to his true ambitions.
