Chapter 4: Without my knowledge
Tuesday came faster than lightening. The school was decorated waiting for parents and media to arrive. Celebs Academy is all about talent and getting the talented discovered. The entire auditorium was packed with people, rich people. Parents of different statuses in society were present,the media didn't fail to make an appearance in the school campus. The place was occupied with journalists who were interviewing students, teachers and parents.
Jessie, Gaby and Rebecca had arrived all dressed up. 'Why didn't you two tell me this program involved everyone and not just Mandy',I asked with my arm folded. 'You know this is for the music class students',Jessie said. I know now because you people didn't tell me. I rolled my eyes and went to take my seat. I can't believe I missed last week's class and I had absolutely no idea what was going on. Why am I such a loser?
Performers were backstage preparing for a performance that could change their lives forever. For the rest of the week I avoided David, As hard as it was, I had to do it. His face just sets my heart on fire for an unknown reason. Also, seeing him with his girlfriend just makes me feel like my heart was getting torn apart.
Soon, the program had started. The spotlights on the stage had been turned on, the curtains had been raised, ready for the commencement of the show. I and the girls were sitted in our seats, they bought some snacks for us to keep our mouths busy for the entire show.
'Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Annual Musical Showcase. The students in our music class are undoubtedly skilled and do not hesitate to exhibit their talent to the world. Many journalists are with their cameras at the back, filming the performance of our upcoming star, who will be taking the music industry by storm someday. Without wasting any time I am going to commence the program by calling one of the future musicians or artists to show us their performances',The MC gave the opening remarks. I must say that their performances are impressive. The people had some amazing voices and they were also excellent with their musical instruments.
'The Mandylin girls are a group of talented girls who are here to wow us with their outstanding costumes and choreography to add some spice to their entire performance', The MC called Mandy's group up on the stage. They had to introduce her group in such a way. The others didn't get such introduction. 'Why is Mandy getting the hype over the others?' I asked Jessie since she has all the info information. 'Her mother is the owner of Celebs Academy', Jessie answered. Where is her mother, I mean if such a big program is being held in your school and your daughter is performing, you should be here, 'I wondered.' She always makes a grand entrance towards the end of program', Rebecca responded. Guess I now understand where Mandy got her grand-style attitude.
I still don't understand why Mandy gets special treatment just because her mother is the owner ', I said and then watched the performance. Of course she wore a lot of pink clothes and the makeup on her face was so much that you can't hug someone wearing a white shirt.
Soon she had ended her performance and people applauded her. I must say that the performance wasn't bad at all. She has a good voice and she is a very good dancer too but she could have reduced the pink. From lights to wigs to costumes to shoes were all pink. She left the stage and the MC continued the program. I was really excited to see some more talented people exhibit their musical skills.
Later David came up on stage to perform. 'I am calling one person to come and join me up on stage, Maria. I opened my eyes wide, surprised to hear what had just happened. I reluctantly walked up the stage, not knowing what was happening, what I was going to do or if I could defeat the urge to run away and make a complete fool of myself.
I stood up on the stage unable to move but to fake a smile to the crowd to make it look like I knew what I was doing, I had no idea what I was about to do. I looked at David trying to ask why he would do this without letting the crowd know it. My heart started beating skyrocketingly fast and I couldn't control it.
The he gave me a microphone. I still gave him the question mark look on to let him know that I am not okay with what he has done. Before I knew it he started playing his guitar. Judging by the tune, he wanted us to sing Lights on by Shawn Mendes. I started breathing quickly like I had just run a 400km race at top speed.
As he slowly got to the side where I was to sing, my nerves took over. My thoughts were running wild and my anxiety set in. Before I knew it I dropped the microphone and run off the stage faster than my heart beat. I wanted to get away from there as soon as possible
