Chapter 9: Furusawa Shizu
[Sword Art Online, Asuna, Kirito…] Arthur lowered his head and held his chin in hand while lost in thought. [So that means it's still before the first season, huh…] He smiled playfully and whispered. "Sorry Kirito, but you wont have a chance with Asuna…"
The clerk seemed to hear Arthur's whisper and looked up in confusion. "Sorry Sir, I didn't know you came in."
"Its fine." Arthur shook his head with a smile and motioned with his hand. "Can you please go get the manager here, I have something to discuss with him."
"Are you sure…" The clerk glanced at Arthur's young age and hesitated. "I can help you if you have something to sell or pawn."
Knowing the clerk's concerns, Arthur reached into his robe and pulled out a gold coin from [The Demon King's Treasure].
"I have more of these…" Arthur placed the gold coin on the counter with a smirk. "Are you sure you can handle this deal?"
The clerk picked up the gold coin in confusion and used a pen-like device to test its purity.
"This…" The clerk looked up with wide eyes. The pen-like device screen shows 100% purity rate.
Arthur glanced at the Clerk with amusement and asked. "Now can you go get your manager?"
The clerk laughed apologetically and used a phone to call his manager upstairs.
"Sir, the manager will be down shortly." The clerk explained and asked Arthur respectfully. "Would you like to wait in our VIP area?"
"Sure." Arthur took the gold coin off the counter and followed the clerk into a luxurious room.
The VIP area was a lavishly decorated room with two couches facing each other, separated by a table.
Arthur glanced around with contentment and sat down on the couch that faced the door.
While waiting, a decent-looking woman in a maid's outfit brought in a cup of tea and set it on the table in front of Arthur.
"Please be careful, its hot." The maid bowed respectfully and strode towards the door.
Arthur sighed, looking at the back of the maid leaving. [A week ago I was just like her and served food at a restaurant…] He shook his head, removing the unwanted thoughts in his mind. [Things change.]
Arthur ungracefully picked up the teacup and savored it slowly.
Arthur placed the teacup on the table and glanced at the clerk with sharp eyes.
The clerk quickly hid his contempt, but not fast enough because Arthur already saw it.
[So it was contempt…] Arthur held his chin with his hand and fell into thought. [While drinking tea just now I felt his contempt…] His eyes flashed with wisdom. [Could this be the legendary Sixth Sense?]
The VIP door opened and a charming woman sporting a dark-gray suit with long-black hair tied in a ponytail stepped in and sat across from Arthur with her legs crossed.
The female-manager scanned Arthur and was surprised. Not because he was handsome. Quite the opposite. He was too ordinary. Other than his strange black robe, everything else looks like it was made in a mold called 'common'.
When Arthur awoke from his thoughts, he felt that someone else was in the room and looked up to meet the strange eyes of the female-manager.
[That look in her eyes… Like I'm an alien… Well, I guess technically I am an alien to this world…] Arthur coughed awkwardly and apologized. "Sorry, I didn't hear you enter."
[Why does she seem familiar…] Arthur glanced at the mature woman across the table and thought.
"Its fine." The female-manager shook her head with a charming smile. "My name is Furusawa Shizu."
"My name is Hyoudou Issei." Arthur nodded with a smile. "It's nice to meet you."
"Well, Mr. Hyoudou..." Furusawa Shizu smiled gracefully and asked. "I heard you have some gold coins to sell." She uncrossed her legs and re-crossed them to the other side. "May I see one?"
[Purple…] Secretly, Arthur's eyes flashed with surprise, then responded with a calm smile, and slid the coin in his hand across the table. "Of course."
The clerk that standing behind Furusawa Shizu stepped forward with a scale and the pen-like device he used earlier and set them on the table.
Furusawa Shizu leaned forward and took the gold coin in hand. Surprise flashed in her eyes. [This is at least two ounces, right?] Placing it on the scale, she confirmed her guess. [Although Kazuo told me it was pure gold, it's better to check it myself.] She picked up the pen-like device and held it to the coin. The screen on the pen lit up with 100% on it.
Furusawa Shizu placed the coin back on the table and looked at the normal-looking guy across from him with penetrating eyes.
Arthur watched the entire process of her checking the coin and smiled at her. "So, how is it?"
"Two Ounces of pure gold." Furusawa Shizu used her nail to tap the table and asked. "How many do you plan to sell exactly?"
"Twenty-one thousand and one." Arthur leaned back on the couch with a smile. "I plan to sell them all." He crossed his leg and asked. "Can I speak with the business owner about it?"
[Twenty-one thousand…] Furusawa Shizu's dark-green eyes flashed with surprise and asked. "Twenty-one thousand? Are you sure?"
"No, not twenty-thousand…" Arthur shook his finger playfully.
[Looks like I really misheard...] Furusawa Shizu sighed with regret but then heard Arthur continue, which made her even more surprised.
"Twenty-one thousand and one." The corner of Arthur's lips lifted slightly and corrected. "Not one more, not one less."
[Really, twenty-one thousand and one, two-ounce gold coins?] Furusawa Shizu's lips opened slightly with wide eyes. [Doesn't that mean he has billion's of yen worth of gold?]
He knocked on the table, awakening the surprised mature woman across from him and asked with a smile. "Can I speak with the owner?"
Furusawa Shizu blushed faintly with shame because of her mistake and nodded with a shrewd look in her eyes. "If you're telling the truth, I'm sure my boss would prefer to come and talk business with you personally."
