Chapter 11: THE DUNGEON CORE

The vice-president let Liam's unconscious body slide on the floor and checked his current conditions. He ingested some of his energy into him, and his eyes soon filled with shock.

"His energy is even stronger than before and they complement each other so perfectly." The man said to himself.

"What does that mean sir? ' The captain who was standing beside him asked.

"Do you know the various classes of hunters?"

"Do you know the weakness of a mage-type hunter?"

"Their bodies sir. They have to train so much in long-range spells and mana control that the only thing they practice most of their time is their inner reservoirs and fail to practice body properly. This results in most mages being incapable of a melee situation."

"And what about body type hunters?"

"Although they have incredible bodily strength and training skills, they are ineffective in long term situations as their energy levels couldn't keep up."

"So the image is like an incredible engine fitted into a broken vehicle, while the body type hunter is an incredible chassis running on a terrible engine. What happens when you combine both of them? An incredible chassis with an incredible engine." The vice-presidents asked.

"They no longer have any weaknesses. One's weakness is outdone by another's strength." The captain replied in an excited voice. he was looking at Liam's body with incredible seriousness.

"Exactly. That is the reason why dual awakeners are so powerful since their abilities somewhat take care of each other's weaknesses. But what happens if the two polar opposite groups merge into one? They become unstoppable. Is that exactly what we are seeing in front of us?"

"You people need to rejoice that the Courageous Dragons have managed to recruit someone who might become another SS-class hunter in our country. He might even be able to reach a level higher than that." The vice-president said.

The group of people who were standing behind looked at Liam with shock.

"You might want to tread lightly when around him in the future." The vice-president spoke.

The team's expression changed.

"Why do you say so, sir?" The captain asked in a nervous voice.

"You could have saved the boy, yet you didn't, could you?" The vice-president looked at the team, while bloodlust emanated from the body. The group was scared shitlessly when they heard this.

"I ..." The captain wanted to explain, but the vice-president lifted his hand to stop him.

'I don't want to hear your reasons. You followed protocols properly as your task was to keep Liam safe. You did your duty properly and hence I will not interfere or probe into the situation any further. I just want you to know that you let a boy die. Also, that boy wasn't useless. Although I felt a very weak energy fluctuation, I did feel him awakening right before he was thrown into the space crack."

"So what you killed isn't just a civilian, but a potential hunter with unknown records of energy." The group of hunters looked aghast at this revelation. They made a terrible mistake and have potentially offended the strongest hunter in the whole country.

"You needn't worry as I will not reveal this matter to him. But I can't say anything about you people. If this matter ever comes out, I don't know his reaction." The vice-president banged his head on the floor and vanished along with Liam.

The hunter team's captain sat there with a guilty yet pale face.

.........................

Somewhere in space-

A dim environment covered the whole passage, as the darkness around was trying to devour it. The passage was small and supposedly lead to somewhere. As we proceeded towards the depressing passage, a room appeared in view.

The room was gigantic, with more hall-like features, with a shiny crystal core shining brightly as it floated in the center. Essentially if someone stumbles upon this place, they would be busy appreciating the decorative attractions of the room.

But at the moment something else attracted the views. It was a small figure lying in the middle of what looked like a pool of red liquid. As one came closer to the spot, they would realize that the figure was a dismembered body, with the red liquid being its blood.

Blood was still slowly gushing out of the body, yet that wasn't the horror of the phenomenon. The eyes of the figure were still open and had a weak glow in them. The blood flow slowly stopped after some time, as a beautiful coat of white light suddenly covered the body.

It was none other than Leon.

"So this is how I die. It is contradictory. Moments earlier I was complaining about the world being unfair and hoped to be a shitless concept. Yet now I discover that I had managed to awaken a hunter's ability, a healing one at that."

"Yet the situation is so contradictory that I will die even after having an ability. I guess fate is punishing me for loathing the one thing it presents us with. Hope." Although the white light managed to cover the body, the healing capabilities couldn't be utilized as too much blood loss had taken place.

To Leon's misery, the healing power made sure he didn't lose consciousness or become brain dead even when he is on the verge of dying. Meaning he would thoroughly be awake while his death draws near to the very last drop of his blood.

The blood pool slowly enlarged as Leon laid there hopelessly, mocking himself and his cowardly nature. The pool expanded and finally reached the altar on which the crystal was suspended. As soon as the blood touched the altar, it was being absorbed into it as a shine as if coming to life.

The glow eventually reached the crystal, which slowly began to morph into bloodied shine. The crystal finally started spinning and rising higher until it reached the very top of the hall.

Leon had already lost the last drop of blood, as the light covering him slowly started to vanish. It was at this moment that the crystal immediately rushed into his body and got absorbed in it.

Moments later the voice was heard

"Scanning the host. Scan complete. The person confirmed dead as having no signs of life is being found. Follow healing and restricting protocols before assuming controls."

yet the light which was about to vanish began to reappear and grow. Suddenly it once again covered the whole body.

"Error detected. Restructuring has started. Host detected to be alive. Protocols Violated. Penal code has been appointed onto the system. The host is granted the rights of the master and will assume full control."

"Start the healing process." The healing process began as the restructuring was taking place simultaneously while all the blood which had flown out, was being absorbed back into the body."

After another day or so, Leon's body finally began to twitch as two pairs of eyes began to open.
