Chapter 38: Chapter 38 To pay for the flower vase

"How did you find my home?" she asked. "I have my ways. Will you let me come in then?" he asked once again. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door for him and he entered. He walked looking around her house taking in every detail. He settled at the couch and she sat at the one opposite him. "How can I help you?" she asked. "When I didn't receive your call, I decided to look for you myself," he stated. "Why would a busy person like the CEO of the Jing Conglomerate waste his time looking for me?" she asked.

"I have a job offer for you that's why and I know that with your past record, it won't be easy for you to find a job."

"So you've already done a background check on me," she said and he nodded before saying," Of course I had to. I have to know the people I intend to work with." Liling looked at him before saying," Tell me Mr Jing Yue. What do you want from me?"

"I want to help you," he simply stated. "Why? You feel pity for me? I don't want your pity," she said. "It isn't pity here. I like working with people like you, straight forward and outspoken." Looking at him, she wondered if working for him was a good idea because during these past days, her mind would wander off to him and it made her wonder if something was wrong with her. "I will give you my response in a week Mr Jing Yue," she said and he nodded his head.

....

Standing in front of the large, tall, white building, Li Fei scrutinized it for a long time. Although she had been at the Li enterprises a few times in the past, she was sure that it wasn't nothing compared to this. During the weekend, she had gotten a chance to buy some formal clothes because she didn't know for how long she was going to be coming here. She had covered her eyes with large shades so that she couldn't be easily recognized. Walking to the ground floor reception, she asked to speak to Wang Mel and the woman asked for a moment. Minutes later, a man came for her and they walked to the elevator that took them to the top most floor where she found Wang Mel instructing some workers.

When Wang Mel saw her, he walked towards where she was and said," Good morning, it's good that you're here. The CEO is still dealing with some clients so you will sit over there and wait for them to finish. I'm still dealing with some issues, please excuse me."

Li Fei removed the shades and nodded then took a seat somewhere where she could be able to see the CEO'S office. On looking around, she noticed a number of workers walking and running which made her realize how busy the company must be.

She waited for so long and felt her back ache as a result of sitting in one place for so long. Stretching, she finally saw the clients leaving the office and they appeared to be Korean. When they entered the elevator, she stood up and wondered if she should go. When she failed to see Wang Mel around, she decided to approach the office and knocked on it but she got no response. She pushed the door open and saw him on his seat looking into some papers. Seeing no one else in, she came in and closed the door behind her.

Walking to stand in front of him, she said," Good morning, Mr Jin Liwei." "You came," he said as he tossed the papers he was reading to the side. "Yes, I came early but you were still finishing with some clients," she explained. "You're going to work in the project department. It will depend on your skills that you take the next level or remain there," he said looking at her. Li Fei was surprised at this and he caught sight of the surprise look on her face then asked," What? You don't want to work?" "It's not that, Mr Jin Liwei. I'm a bit surprised," she said.

"How were you intending to pay for the flower vase if you don't work?" he asked. He still remembers that? she thought to herself. Before she could answer, she saw him pick up the phone and instructed someone to come to his office.

Few minutes later, a beautiful woman came in. Her hair was tied into a messy bun and she was dressed in elegant formal clothes. She greeted her and then turned to Jin Liwei saying," Yes, CEO?" "Take her to the project department and tell the HR to cater for her," he said and both women left the office.

"What is your name?" the woman asked.

Hesitantly, she said," Li Fei." "Okay Li Fei. I'm Yun Shi, for a moment I got scared," she said as they walked to the elevator. "And why's that?" asked Li Fei. "I thought the CEO had replaced me from being his personal secretary," she said. "Ah, not really," she replied. "Are you related to the CEO?" she asked curiously. "No, why?" she asked. "Simply because he was the one that hired you which has never happened. It's the role of the HR to do that," she said as they left the elevator. "Oh that. I just got lucky I guess," she said. On reaching the Project department which covered the whole of the second last floor, they found the HR who started catering for Li Fei as they were direct orders from the CEO.

She was given her desk in a huge room where she sat with others.

Just then, the project Manager came rushing to the room and announced," We have an emergency meeting with the CEO right now!!" With this, she heard gasps from most of them as they stood up and started moving. Li Fei wondered what she should do and she also stood up to follow the others who were going for the meeting.
